With the summer comes the deluge of big blockbuster franchises that threaten to drown out pretty much anything else that might happen to stumble into theaters. From May to July you can pretty much kiss anything without a huge budget and a franchise goodbye. Sorry romantic comedy lovers. Sorry drama addicts. Good news horror buffs, because if you happen to live near one of a given number of participating AMC Theaters (which you probably do at this point, they're everywhere now), you'll get to enjoy the 4-movie Bloody Disgusting Selects series of films sponsored by Bloody Disgusting, The Collective, and AMC.
The series kicks off on May 4th with Rammbock and carries on through the summer with the other 3 films: Yellowbrickroad, Cold Fish, and Atrocious. Additionally, the French (non-horror) film Le Herisson (aka Hedgehog) will also be showing courtesy of NeoClassics Films.

Bloody-Disgusting and their new venture into distribution with The Collective/AMC Theaters has announced release dates for the upcoming releases, including Atrocious (here), a creepy shaky-cam film from Spain.
In AMC theaters August 3rd, the film is directed by first-time helmer Fernando Barreda Luna and produced by Octavi Martínez, David Sanz, and Jessica Villegas Lattuada. After its international premiere, the film screened at Slamdance this past January, garnering a tide of online buzz and comparisons to Paranormal Activity. The film centers on the Spanish police’s discovery of hours of recorded evidence that shed new light on a gruesome murder investigation. The found footage documents a family’s summer holiday, where a brother and sister investigate a terrifying local urban legend. As their investigation intensifies, strange occurrences in and around the house escalate rapidly, before culminating in unspeakable atrocities.
Look for Rammbock on May 4th; Yellowbrickroad on June 1st; and Cold Fish July 6th.
