Director J. Stephen Maunder’s action epic “Shadows in Paradise” — which has been available in France for about a year — is kind of like “The Expendables” for the direct-to-video market. The film is stuffed to overflowing with an abundance of Dtv actors, including Tom Sizemore, Armand Assante, and my personal favorite, “Iron Chef America” badass Mark Dacascos. From what I can gather, the picture has been floating around for quite some time now, but apparently Germany will be among the first to receive the film in English next month. Why is the world so cruel to those of us who spend an embarrassing amount of free time watching this sort of movie? Although I’m tempted to drop some serious cash to import this sucker into the States, I think I may wait for an American distributor to foot the bill. Still, the thought is extremely tempting.
