It’s now official, Sam Mendes will not be returning to direct the next Bond movie. Of course, he said that after Skyfall, but it makes more sense now. Deadline caught up with the director of Spectre, opening today, and the filmmaker likened the “regeneration” of the Bond franchise to Doctor Who, both of which have featured a slew of different actors in the title roles.
I grew up on Dr. Who, and its ideas of regeneration. People say, ‘Well, once you’ve acknowledged time passing and Bond getting older and characters dying, how do you continue the franchise?’ And the answer is you regenerate, and you have to be as brave as when they cast Daniel, and when they let M die. They have to go off in a completely different direction, into regenerating mythology. You cast a new actor and find a new director, and make something totally new.

Sam Mendes will not be returning to direct the next James Bond film, and Daniel Craig has essentially made it clear he has little incentive to continue further after "Spectre".
Indeed the new Bond film in many ways feels like a wrap-up of everything that came before, ending in such a way that should the character return it will likely be in a quite different way. Speaking with Deadline about his departure, Mendes compares the franchise to "Doctor Who" and how its time for Bond to regenerate:

At one point in the third season of "Rectify," Amantha Holden is floundering her way through a team-building exercise at a management training seminar for her job. To help her out, the moderator suggests, "Why don't you tell us a story that only you can tell us?" Her story — about how older brother Daniel wound up on Death Row as a teenager, how she devoted her entire adult life to getting him released, succeeded through DNA evidence, and then saw him confess to the murder a second time to cut a plea deal, making her efforts and years into a joke — fits the letter of the suggestion, if not the spirit of the exercise, and it leaves the entire room speechless. "Rectify" itself doesn't exactly tell a story no one else on television could. Almost from the moment TV was born, the medium's been filled with stories of crimes, cops,...

Adam and Tomasz's online video business spirals out of control, while sexually ambiguous Daniel may not be as ambiguous as Lance thinks.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE has announced the return dates for two currently injured superstars. The sports entertainment company and its superstars will be touring around Europe from November 5th through the 15th.
Both Bad News Barrett and Daniel Bryan have been announced as taking part in the European tour with Barrett returning on the 5th at London’s Wembley Arena. Bryan, on the other hand, will supposedly be making his return on the 6th in Cardiff. While these announced dates are a good sign, they should not be taken as official confirmation just yet.
Barrett has been out since separating his shoulder at the June 24th Smackdown taping, which subsequently required surgery. A November 5th return may seem quite sudden, but it’s not far off of original projections. Initially, Barrett was rumored to return sometime before or around the 2015 Royal Rumble.

If you’re in the mood for something really scary — and maybe a little off beat — to watch this Halloween, you’re in luck! A terrific crop of wickedly frightening and ghoulishly grotesque horror flicks that terrorized the underground film circuit have made their way to your favorite VOD streaming service just in time for this All Hallow’s Eve.
Saturday Morning Mystery, dir. Spencer Parsons (Amazon | Itunes) Saturday Morning Mystery is one of the best, most original horror movies in recent memory. Daniel Craig was on hand to help unveil the new Range Rover Sport ahead of the New York Auto Show in NYC yesterday. Earlier in the day he walked around NYC with a group of friends while carrying a garment bag. At the event, Daniel Craig drove the SUV into the event hall and parked it in front of a group of photographers. Daniel admitted that maneuvering the car in front of everyone was harder than it looked. He said, "I've done plenty of driving in movies, but a live event, you think do I know how to drive?" Daniel may have second-guessed his driving skills, but one thing we will never doubt is his ability to seduce the ladies - check out James Bond's best pickup lines, including a few from Daniel's Bond, who will return to the big screen in a new installment of 007 within three years. Despite the duplicitous motives underlying their relationship, Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and Daniel Grayson (Joshua Bowman) seemed to be living the dream in "Revenge" Season 1. Legal woes, disapproving families and even the occasional murder couldn't keep these two kids apart!
And then it ended. Now, well into season 2 of the soapy drama, could the former fiances get back together? A few photos from the upcoming episode, "Sabotage," indicate that a flame could reignite.
Granted, Emily is -- as far as anyone knows -- still with her vengeance sidekick, Aiden (Barry Sloane). If that's the case, then any cozying between the lady and Daniel may be just part of an act. The official episode description for "Sabotage" backs this up:
"A fundraiser and wine auction provide the perfect backdrop for Emily and Aiden's next plan of attack, while Victoria strategically plots her next move. Meanwhile, Jack, Declan and Amanda struggle with what lies ahead.

Just as her perfectly orchestrated plot unraveled before her eyes, an embattled Victoria Grayson pulled a rabbit out of her hat and successfully reascended to her throne as Queen of the Hamptons ... for now.
All it took was a convincing aura of "Confidence" and a high-wire PR act.
The resurrected Grayson matriarch still has plenty of obstacles - and enemies - in her path after Aiden and Emily forced her hand before the press conference, but this woman is darn near impossible to break.
Largely relegated to the shadows in the previous two weeks, this was Madeleine Stowe's night, and she delivered in typically captivating fashion. The actress is so perfectly cast in this role, it's uncanny.
Stowe's facial expressions are priceless and make it hard not to love her, or at least love to hate her, even as you root for Emily Thorne. It takes a brilliantly complex character to achieve that.

It is easy to label Daniel Plainview, the oil man at the center of Paul Thomas Anderson’s American epic There Will Be Blood, as a villain. As he scowls, grumbles, glares, and slinks his way through the picture, his bursts of outrage and violence, and his single-minded obsession with greed may paint him outwardly as a scoundrel through and through. But looking closer at this man, played by Daniel Day Lewis in one of the all time great film roles, he is not the villain here. In fact, if I were forced to label, I would have to say Plainview is the protagonist of the story, an antihero so corrupted by greed and power that he loses sight of himself and his obsessions drive him to solitary madness. Of course, every protagonist needs an antagonist, and I think there is a clear answer as to who that is in the film.

Watching So You Think You Can Dance‘s Season 9 Top 20 announcement episode — its first this year with live, choreographed dances — I was struck by the fact that the show really is like an old friend. Daniel may be getting out of prison on Revenge, but his troubles are far from over. While standing trial for Tyler's murder, a lot of people thought he was being given special treatment because of his social status. And we know that it was Conrad's money and connections that got the murder pinned on another man who "committed suicide". Now Daniel is back at Grayson Manor and, in an attempt to repair his image, the family has decided to allow him to be interviewed.
Before this interview happens, however, Ashley announces that she is moving on to bigger and better things. During Daniel's trial she was able to exploit the situation for personal gain and quickly became the Graysons' spokesperson. Now that the trial is over, she'll be handling PR for Daniel's lawyer and his law firm.

Blu-ray & DVD Release Date: Feb. 14, 2012
Price: DVD $19.95
Studio: Kino Lorber
Courtney Patterson (l.) and Zoe Cooper star in The Little Death.
The sexually charged 2010 independent drama-thriller The Little Death takes on the rather unique subject of early 20th Century brothels and that era’s psychology and philosophy on the “immorality” of prostitution.
The Little Death tells the story of a strong-willed reformer (Courtney Patterson) who ventures into a turn-of-the-century brothel to confront its owner (Daniel May) and liberate a young woman (Christie Vozniak) whom she believes is being held there in sexual captivity. While the brothel’s owner attempts mesmerize and seduce the lovely would-be rescuer, a meek student (Clifton Guterman) becomes a pawn in the increasingly risque game of sexual cat-and-mouse that is unfolding.
Based on the 1905 play Death and Devil by German playwright Frank Wedekind (Spring Awakening), which is integrated with Anton Chekhov’s 1888 short story A Nervous Breakdown,...

Revenge Sneak Peeks: Daniel Takes a Big Step Tonight!
A lot of people are anxious for Revenge to get back to that engagement party on the beach that we originally saw in the pilot. That will be coming up very soon and we'll finally learn - once and for all - just who got shot on the beach. To be honest, I'd put my money on Daniel surviving. But before we can even think about the engagement party, we need an actual engagement. Guess when that's coming? Tonight!
As we saw in the last episode of Revenge, Daniel has come up with a way to help his mother in the divorce: gain access to his trust and his shares of Grayson Global. By combining his shares with Victoria's shares, the two of them can take control from Conrad. But Conrad isn't stupid and when his lawyer hinted that Daniel may...

Another intense episode of Revenge was delivered this week, this time delving deeper into the case of David Clarke (James Tupper) and a certain journalist’s involvement in bringing the case to light. Plus, a cliffhanger like never before may have led viewers hearts to skip a beat. What an unbelievable twist of fate here. Brilliant episode, let’s break it down.
First, there’s Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman) who decided to move back home with Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) after the Tyler shake up. This move was understandable but who would have thought that Daniel would propose moving in together with Emily (Emily VanCamp) after it all blew over? Exactly how long have these two been together? While Daniel may be rushing things, Emily has her reasons to not move in with Dan and her reasoning to him is definitely not it. The marriage excuse was cute and quite hysterical.

"Freaks and Geeks" is now airing on IFC, and we thought we'd take this opportunity to revisit the show that launched a thousand bromance movies. Every week, Matt Singer and Alison Willmore will be offering their thoughts on that night's episode.
Episode 15
Noshing and Moshing
Written by J. Elvis Weinstein
Directed by Jake Kasdan
"I'm leaning towards undeclared." -- Barry Schweiber
Matt: Sadly, we're all leaning toward "Undeclared" at this point; we've got just three more episodes left before we all graduate to Judd Apatow's "Freaks and Geeks" follow up set in the world of college. In the meantime, we do get a small taste of university life from guest star David Krumholtz, who plays Neal's older brother Barry, back on a break from college. Everyone seems to like Barry, but no one more than Lindsay, who decides to attend the Schweiber's annual party just to spend some time with him.

The return of Caprica was one that saw all our players making moves to either solidify their power or gain it back, whether that meant selling one’s soul to the Taurons or convincing The Holy Mother that perhaps a virtual heaven is as good as the afterlife is going to get.
Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) and Clarice (Polly Walker) are both traveling down dangerous, parallel roads towards playing God, whether it’s in the service of one’s grief or one’s glory. So it was a clever structure in 1.10 to allow us to see these analogous journeys so clearly. Each path required a blood sacrifice. Each path pushed our characters further than they have had to go before. And where one (Graystone) envisions a world without the need for grief, the other (Clarice) envisions a world without the need for faith.
Caprica’s challenge at this point is...

One politically correct thing to say about The Specials is that Sarah Silverman won’t be adopting them any time soon. The cast of the 10-episode reality series features five young adults who have slightly varying degrees of learning disabilities; four of them Down’s syndrome, while the fifth, Lewis, has Williams Syndrome. The precedent for a show with an actor living with Down's goes all the way back to Corky from Life Goes On to the more recent Retarded Policeman. But in The Specials all the main players are disabled. It creates a far more inclusive dynamic. Each of the five principal cast members narrates scenes and intros and appearances by any other characters is limited. Created by Katy Lock and Daniel May, the series follows the dramas and day-to-day activities of five housemates in Brighton, all college students except for Lucy, who works full-time doing odd jobs at a small business.

R-Patz admits he wishes his career could be more like Daniel Radcliffe’s!
Robert Pattinson may be the biggest star in the world right now and in one of the most successful film franchises ever, but there is one person he is still envious of – Daniel Radcliffe! The Twilight hunk told CBS, “I love the mix of stuff he has done in his career, always pushing the boundaries and stuff like that. I also envy his stints on stage – he is a great actor.” You’re not so bad yourself Rob!
Maybe Rob is finally ready to get naked on stage, like Daniel famously did in the play Equus! He already said he volunteered to get nude for a racy magazine spread earlier this year but they turned him down. What were they thinking!
Rob, who costarred with Daniel in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, also...

U.K.'s Yahoo! Movies has got its hand on a new image from the next installment of "Harry Potter" film franchise, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". Unlike the first still which shows Harry Potter along with his best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, this newly released picture features Daniel Radcliffe's character alone, holding his wand in what seems to be Grimauld Place.
In another "Deathly Hallows" news, Daniel reportedly will not just appear naked once, but twice in the film. According to La Vibra, director David Yates said, "Well, Dan has appeared nude in the past, but there are a couple of scenes in the new film in which he will undress, but we're still thinking about how we present it."
The first scene, in which Daniel may bare his skin, is when Harry and Ron try to kill a Horcrux, which "tries to defend itself...
