Lionsgate’s Pilgrim Media Group has signed an exclusive unscripted deal with Sean Perry’s production company 2500 Media, the company announced Thursday.
Under the agreement, 2500 Media, which focuses on unscripted series, documentaries and scripted projects, will immediately enter into Pilgrim Media Group’s development and production staff. The deal also covers a first look scripted component with Lionsgate Television.
“When I looked around at ways to super charge my new company 2500 Media and deliver high quality production at a reasonable cost, it was clear that locking arms with Lionsgate and Pilgrim was the best and fastest way to accomplish our goals,” Perry said in a statement. “When you see what Kevin Beggs, Sandra Stern and their team have accomplished across Lionsgate Television and my good friend Craig Piligian has built with Pilgrim, it was a no brainer to dive in fully with them.”

I have all the details from inside the event, which as usual attracted the most elite of the Hollywood set who poured in after watching Everything Everywhere All at Once score seven Oscar trophies including Best Picture.

Exclusive: Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to the gripping historical drama Kent State from writer, director Karen Slade. The film will star Dermot Mulroney, Clancy Brown, Aksel Hennie, Christopher Backus, Christopher Ammanuel, Andrew Ortenberg and Jacqueline Emerson.
Grandave International is handling foreign sales on the film. The pic will begin filming this November in Columbus, Ga with a US theatrical release anticipated for 2023.
Inspired by true events, the movie tells the story of how a family’s buried past coincides with the brutal truth of one of the most significant events in American history, when the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of student protestors, killing four, and injuring 7 on May 4th, 1970, at Kent State University. Told through the perspective of Will McCormack in two time periods in his life, the film asks the question of not just what happened then, but why these kinds of events continue to happen.

In the space of a year, she went from Matt Weiner’s personal assistant on “Mad Men” to his Emmy-winning co-writer of the season finale. Then, less than a month after standing next to Weiner on the Nokia Theatre stage, she was fired. Or, as a show insider put it: “Matt has reluctantly decided that their relationship has reached its full potential.” That awkward rationale highlighted the “Mad Men” narrative: It was Weiner’s show, and his whims were law.
“Mad Men” continued for six more critically lauded seasons as Gordon faded from the news cycle and from the industry. Now imagine that story in 2017, with Gordon coming forward with her sexual harassment accusations against Weiner. Her story would have legs; he would be forced to deal with the charges, Peak TV be damned. All of which suggests...

When it was first announced Rashida Jones had exited the writing process of Toy Story 4, unnamed sources came forward and alleged that it was due to unwanted sexual advances by Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter. Now (via Indie Wire), Jones is setting the record straight, although her reasoning doesn't sound any less damning for Pixar. Jones and writing partner Will McCormack said the reason they left the project was due to a culture that prevented minorities and women from having an equal voice in the creative process:
“We did not leave Pixar because of unwanted advances. That is untrue. We parted ways because of creative and, more importantly, philosophical differences. There is so much talent at Pixar, and we remain enormous fans of their films. However, it is also a culture where women and people of color do not have an equal creative voice...We hope we...

Rashida Jones and writing partner Will McCormack are setting the record straight regarding the reason they left screenwriting duties on “Toy Story 4.” In a story published by The Hollywood Reporter on November 21, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter was accused of misconduct by insiders at the company and Disney. One source told THR that Jones left “Toy Story 4” after Lasseter made an “unwanted advance.”

Jones and McCormack have refuted the allegation in a statement made to Entertainment Weekly. The writing duo, whose previous credits include “Celeste and Jesse Forever,” deny unwanted advances were ever made toward Jones, and instead they cite the unequal treatment of minority voices within Pixar as the reason they removed themselves from “Toy Story 4.”

Rashida Jones is disputing a report from The Hollywood Reporter that said she and Will McCormack left Toy Story 4 over an unwanted sexual advance made by the head of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, John Lasseter. Instead Jones said in a statement sent to E! It seems Toy Story 4 is in need of new screenwriters.
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Rashida Jones walked out on the animated sequel after John Lasseter, the renown head of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, made an “unwanted advance.” This news comes just as Lasseter takes a six-month leave of absence because of unspecified “missteps.”
Disney’s official statement on the matter failed to mention specifics, but the allegations against John Lasseter are beginning to mount. At the time of writing, Jones has not responded to her alleged incident with the Pixar co-founder, though it should be noted that she’s still listed as Toy Story 4‘s screenwriter. Her writing partner, Will McCormack, also left the project early on in a show of solidarity.
