Exclusive: The Toronto-based distributor has picked up Canadian rights to George Mendeluk’s Ukranian genocide feature starring Max Irons, Samantha Barks and Terence Stamp.
D Films plans an early 2017 theatrical release for the story of lovers caught in Joseph Stalin’s murderous starvation of the Ukrainian people from 1932-1933 known as the Holodomor.
Barry Pepper and Tamer Hassan round out the key cast. Richard Bachynsky Hoover wrote the original story on which the film is based and collaborated on the screenplay with Mendeluk.
Roadside Attractions will release the film in the Us in early 2017.

Carl Franklin will direct City of Night, a thriller about a Los Angeles Police Department rookie who finds himself working in the toughest crime unit in the city. Meyers Media Group and McDonald Entertainment announced Tuesday that they will co-finance the movie, written by David Chisholm and produced by Brendan McDonald of McDonald Entertainment and Jesse B’Franklin, and executive produced by Lawrence Meyers and Randy Dannenberg of Meyers Media. Franklin, whose credits include One False Move and Devil in a Blue Dress, most recently directed the pilot episode of TNT’s Falling Skies and the premiere episode of Starz’s Magic City.

Roadside Attractions has acquired all U.S. rights to "CA$H," written and directed by Stephen Milburn Anderson and starring Sean Bean, Chris Hemsworth and Victoria Profeta.
The Chicago-set action thriller features Hemsworth and Profeta as a couple who find a suitcase full of cash that brings with it a sinister character played by Bean.
Roadside will release the film theatrically on March 26, and Lionsgate will handle the subsequent DVD release and ancillary markets as part of its output deal with Roadside.
The film was produced and financed by Naveen Chathappuram of Immortal Thoughts with Prema Thekkek serving as exec producer. Media 8 Entertainment is handling international sales.
