For example, his game, The Legend of Zelda (1986), was inspired by his childhood, when he would explore different forests and caves. The chain chomps in Super Mario Bros. 3 (1988) were also inspired by a terrifying memory, where Miyamoto was walking home from school, when a big scary dog jumped at him, attached to a chain. The chain just barely out of reach of the child.

- Was introduced to Nintendo by his father who was a schoolmate to now former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi. Yamauchi was so impressed with Miyamoto's untrained artistic abilities that he was instantly hired.
