Garrett Morris was born on February 1, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He is an actor and writer, known for Coneheads (1993), Saturday Night Live (1975) and How High (2001). He has been married to Freda Morris since September 20, 1996.
Received his Bachelor of Music degree from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana (1958).
A former schoolteacher, he taught at New York City's PS 71.
Trained in voice at the Juilliard School of Music, he appeared on stage in many musicals in his pre-SNL days, including "Porgy and Bess", "Hallelujah, Baby", "Show Boat", and others.
Raised by his grandfather, a Baptist minister, and began singing in the church choir.
