A two-day extravaganza of pitching sessions kicked off today at the M:brane youth forum in Malmö, with target ages ranging between 3 and occasionally even 99. It’s been referred to as such more than once, and at the M:brane financing forum for youth content in Malmö, the Noble Art of Pitching is, in fact, its own prize category. Out of this year’s batch of presented projects, several should receive resources for further development, but only one will walk away with the Pitch Award of €2,500, launched in collaboration with Creative Europe. Preliminary tutoring has been provided by director-producer Thomas Borch Nielsen, himself a three-time recipient and clearly worth listening to. Twenty-six projects in search of funding and/or partnerships form the 2021 line-up. The media formats range widely between live action and animation, fiction and documentary, big screen, television and web series, plus a few interactive and VR works, all promising...
On Sept. 6, Phase 4 Films will release the Blu-ray and DVD of the 2008 movie Disco Worms, an animated family comedy about, well, use your imagination! The discs will be priced at $29.99 and $24.99, respectively.
Okay, here we go: In the film, Barry is an earthworm who is sorta bummed out because he works in a compost heap and lives at the bottom of the food chain. A Danish movie originally entitled Sunshine Barry & The Disco Worms (think K.C. and The Sunshine Band), it’s the third feature film directed by veteran Danish animator and F/X craftsman Thomas Borch Nielsen.

- The Toronto Film Festival announced the line ups for the Wavelengths, Sprockets Family Zone and Midnight Madness sections with names like Quentin Tarantino, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Gene Simmons participating to the festivities, but to be honest there aren't that many films that peak my curiosity with the exception of Pascal Laugier’s Martyrs (see the picture above). A late 2007 pick up for The Weinsteins, this is the story of a terrifying cycle of violence that follows a group of girls. The picture is apparently so nasty, that France is almost banning the picture slapping it with a must be over 18 classification. Two other titles that I have a low level interest are a meta-comedy from director Mabrouk El Mechri. The action laugher Jcvd stars Jean Claude Van Damme playing himself in the midst of a post office heist. Cannes was bombarded by Cannes market advertisements for this project,
