Reviewers in the Us are just as sweet on Damon Gameau.s That Sugar Film as their Australian counterparts.
Samuel Goldwyn Films launched the Madman-produced documentary on 10 screens and on-demand last Friday.
Us critics favourably compared the doc to Morgan Spurlock.s Super Size Me and last year.s sugar-themed expose Fed Up from executive producers Katie Couric and Laurie David (An Inconvenient Truth) and director Stephanie Soechtig.
The New York Times. Daniel M. Gold declared, .Like Super Size Me, Mr. Gameau keeps a team of doctors and nutritionists handy, and the health effects are alarming. Within three weeks, he starts to develop fatty liver disease, and by the end incurs early Type 2 diabetes and increased heart disease risks.
.Mr. Gameau.s breezy blend of computer imagery, musical numbers, sketches and offbeat field trips makes the nutrition lessons easy to digest.

The heroes in a half shell are back, and this time they are the most realistic looking Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ever, thanks to Industrial Light & Magic's performance-capture technology. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman (but produced by Michael Bay and Nickelodeon), the newest reboot distinctly targets younger viewers but still has a PG-13 rating, mostly due to sci-fi violence and a scary looking Shredder. It hasn't gotten good reviews, but most critics admit that this is a movie that has more kid than nostalgia appeal.
But first, here are five questions to consider before taking the kids to see "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
1. How familiar is your kid with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Luckily, your kids don't need to know anything about the Turtles to enjoy or understand the movie. It helps if they do know basic things about Donnie, Rapha, Leo, and Mikey, but even if they've only seen the Turtles on backpacks or commercials,...

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" has been called an X-Men crossover, as "The Dissolve" critic Matt Singer says: "Like Days Of Future Past, crossovers in comics tend to be light on character development. But when they're good, the huge stakes and epic scale of the action make them hard to put down" -- and this is precisely that sort of "can't look away" crossover: one that's both entertaining and remarkably well acted. What else can you expect from a cast that includes two Sirs (and off-camera BFFs) Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto; four Academy Award nominees, James McAvoy as young Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as young Erik Lehnsherr, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and Ellen Page as Kitty; and let's not forget the two Oscar winners, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven/Mystique and Halle Berry as Storm; and the one and only Tyrion, Peter Dinklage as the film's entrepreneurial anti-mutant villain.

Author Orson Scott Card is a polarizing man, but there's no denying that his seminal 1985 novel "Ender's Game" is one of the most famous and beloved sci-fi books of the past 50 years. For years Card himself said he didn't think it was possible to adapt the book, which takes place in the mind of a young military genius living in a future world that is constantly on alert to defend itself from an insect-like alien race. "Hugo" star Asa Butterfield plays the titular Ender Wiggin, a military wunderkind the likes of whom Colonel Hyram Graff (Harrison Ford) has never seen. Young Ender is promoted from his military academy to Battle School, where he's singled out and expected to prove himself worthy of commanding the entire International Fleet against the possible alien threat.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, but they sure can file a lawsuit. Producers of ABC's Glass House are suing CBS, according to the Hollywood Reporter. CBS tried to keep Glass House from airing, alleging it was a copycat of their popular Big Brother series. A judge later denied this request, and the ABC reality show premiered in June to poor ratings. In August, CBS dropped its lawsuit against ABC, citing the show's lackluster audience as "the ultimate form of justice." But then CBS filed for arbitration against the Glass House producers. And now, Glass House producers are firing back at CBS. Kenny Rosen, Corie Henson and Michael O'Sullivan, who all previously worked on Big...

The producer, a Republican, says that his film is "fair and truthful."
“All of my movies have been about telling the truth,” Molen told the Hollywood Reporter. “That’s important to me. We’ve gone out of our way to make a movie that’s fair and truthful. And these numbers tell me that the American people agree with that assessment.”
"2016: Obama's America" is Molen's first documentary based on the book by Dinesh D'Souza, "The Roots of Obama's Rage." The film finished at No. 8 in the box office this weekend, nearly outdoing Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "Premium Rush" and ranking as the second-highest grossing new film.
The anti-Obama documentary expanded to theaters nationwide this weekend after noteworthy success in a select-market release.
