A sex toy company is producing a movie. Why am I writing about it here? Because it's a post apocalyptic love story. I. Kid. You. Not.
Lelo, one of the world's leading manufacturers of sex toys, is producing Beyond the Wave, a film starring Casper Van Dien of Starship Troopers fame, Emilie Ohana and newcomer Zhu Wei Ling, which unfolds in a futuristic world where men and women choose to live apart.
From the movie's press kit:
A chance meeting with the young Noria (Ling) sparks an unforgettable journey for Jacques (Van Dien), one that shows him the importance of understanding another's perspective. On the surface it's a love story, but deeper than that, it's a reminder on how to enrich relationships in an increasingly individualistic and divided world.

If you've seen Paris, je t'aime, you would know the basic concept of New York, I Love You. Some of the world's celebrated filmmakers create short tales of romance based in a metropolitan city, compiled in an anthology film. The stories stand on their own, but connected together by the common theme of love and the mood of its location.
What's different—and consequently better—about New York, I Love You is that the individual stories are interconnected, to illustrate a web of people that links New Yorkers in unexpected ways. It could be that two strangers hail the same cab, or go to the same Chinese laundromat, or know the same pharmacist. Furthering these links is Emilie Ohana, playing a video artist who circles the city with a video camera and continually runs into the other characters.
Unlike the segmented and showcasey Paris, je t'aime, this film is much more fluid.

Once in a while, one has to try something new when it comes to films. Unlike Toronto Stories, which is another anthology movie I'd recommend, Paris, je t'aime uses a rather different approach while showing as much audacity as its Canadian counterpart. All in all, the film is a rather enjoyable gem.
First of all, to put it shortly, Paris, je t'aime uses 18 short segments directed by internationally acclaimed directors. Of course, each segment takes place in a different district of Paris. In each segment, the directors, through their own vision, offer their own interpretation of the meaning of love in none other than the most romantic city in the world.
Obviously, the first praise that you'd like to offer for this film is certainly its photography. Without looking like a postal card, Paris, je t'aime has no difficulty to capture the city's beauty in order to fit it into...

Vivendi Entertainment has released a new movie trailer for the anthology film project New York, I Love You. The movie is the next film from the producers of Paris, je t'aime, and features another anthology of short films, this time focusing on the stories of love in New York's five boroughs. I Love California, but I've always wanted to live in Manhattan (maybe someday). Films like this certainly don't help my obsessions with "Gotham" and short films. The film includes short films directed by Jian Wen, Mira Nair, Brett Ratner, Allen Hughes, Shekhar Khapur, Natalie Portman, Fatih Akin, Joshua Marston and Randy Balsmyer. The film's ensemble cast includes: Bradley Cooper, Andy Garcia, Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Natalie Portman, Irrfan Khan, Emilie Ohana, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, Maggie Q, Ethan Hawke, James Caan, Blake Lively, Drea de Matteo, John Hurt, Shia Labeouf, Burt Young, Chris Cooper, Eli Wallach and Cloris Leachman.

- I'm starting to think that Nathalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson were doing a lot more than gossiping about male leads, or trading fashion tips on the set of The Other Boleyn Girl. Joining the ranks of other young Hollywood actresses who go behind the camera (Kirsten Dunst made a Sundance short and Sarah Polley raised the bar with what we can expect from young talents with Away from Her) Johansson was confirmed a while back that she would be directing a segment in New York, I Love You (her film follows the lonely journey of one man throughout the city) and now, Portman has been confirmed to both write and direct 1/12th of the short film collection. Further announcements have been made regarding the cast and crew of the twelve part pic. Variety reports that Orlando Bloom, Olivia Thirlby, Hayden Christensen and Ethan Hawke have joined the cast (we
