The upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is set to shake up the MCU after a couple of slumps in the past one or two years. Fans have been dreaming about this live-action team-up for years ever since their brief interactions in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Deadpool 3 pairs The Merc With a Mouth with his frenemy Logan/ Wolverine
Another iconic combination that Wolverine was a part of on the animation side was with the Hulk in the 2009 film Hulk Vs Wolverine. The film did not get the deserved attention and popularity back in the day. As Deadpool 3 comes closer to release, fans are giving a shoutout to the film for giving them a badass two-hander back in the day.

It’s hard to believe that prior to the mid-’80s when Frank Miller, got his evil genius hands on the Dark Knight with the landmark graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns, the figure of Batman was defined by the kitschy ’60s TV show starring Adam West and the bright and sunny pages of Bob Kane’s original Detective Comics. Released in 1986, The Dark Knight Returns cast Batman as a moody, bitter, aging caped crusader: a musclebound vigilante who spends his nights crashing a tank through the grimy streets of a Gotham that closely resembled the rain-soaked, gothic aesthetic of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner (1982).
From this point on in comics, television, cinema, and the general public consciousness, Batman was forever reinvented as a brooding, tragic, gothic figure who often occupied the thin line between hero and anti-hero. When Tim Burton was handed the reins for Batman’s first real foray into cinema,...

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is easily one of the best Batman films that has been made, especially to those of us who grew up watching Batman: The Animated Series.
It’s been twenty-five years since the movie was released in theaters and to celebrate the occasion the movie is getting a theatrical re-release for one day only thanks to Fathom Events.
Your chance to see the movie on the big screen will happen on Monday, November 12th. I also included a special trailer that was released promoting the special event screening that fans won’t want to miss!
In this animated feature set in the 1940s, the troubled yet heroic Batman (Kevin Conroy) is pitted against a mysterious figure who is rubbing out Gotham City's most dangerous criminals, and who many believe is the caped crusader himself. Batman's alter ego, millionaire Bruce Wayne, is about to get married to...

After all these years, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is finally coming to Blu-ray! This is one of my favorite Batman movies and I've been wondering when Warner Bros. would finally get around to doing this! I'm surprised the studio waited this long to give the movie a high definition remaster.
The 1993 film has a new 1080p HD remaster and will include both the original 16×9 aspect ratio (1.78:1) and an open matte 4×3 (1.37:1) version.
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm begins when the city’s most feared gangsters are systematically eliminated and the Caped Crusader is blamed. But prowling the Gotham night is a shadowy new villain, the Phantasm, a sinister figure with some link to Batman’s past. Can the Dark Knight elude the police, capture the Phantasm and clear his own name?
The movie was directed by Eric Radomski, Bruce Timm, Frank Paur, Kevin Altieri, Boyd Kirkland, and Dan Riba,...

Back in 2009 when Marvel was developing great animated films, they released a two-part movie called Hulk Vs. One story focused on Hulk Vs. Thor and the other one focused on Hulk Vs. Wolverine. If you haven't seen this movie you should check it out because it's pretty awesome.
Anyway, some cool storyboard art has surfaced for the Hulk Vs. Wolverine aspect and it included a concept that ultimately wasn't used in the story. The art comes from director Frank Paur and it came with the following commentary:
"My original story about Hulk Vs Wolverine dealt with a retelling of the Windigo story from Wolverines First appearance In the Hulk comic. Whereas Hulk/Thor dealt with the mindless rampaging Hulk, Hulk/Wolverine would have dealt with the child-like Hulk. Hulk finds a little girl alone in a destroyed town. He rescues the girl and takes her with him, and soon finds...

About a month ago, artist Frank Paur, who was the supervising producer of the classic 90s series Gargoyles, released a piece of Gargoyles art featuring Elisa Maza. He has since been busy working on more new original character art from the series for fans to enjoy.
These latest three pieces are all in different stages of development, and the characters include Goliath, Hudson, and Broadway. It's so cool to see new art pieces like this being created by one of the original creators of the series. Makes me wish Disney would actually breathe life back into the franchise and do something with it!

If you're a fan of Disney's classic animated series Gargoyles, I've got a cool piece of art for you to check out today! It comes from Frank Paur, who was the supervising producer on the original series. As you can see, the art puts the focus on Elisa Maza, who was a friend of the Gargoyles. You can see her Gargoyle friends soaring through the sky behind her. It's a beautiful black and white piece that I think fans will love. It's ridiculous that Disney still hasn't pulled the trigger on a feature film adaptation of the incredible series!

In this instance, he's taunting the old scrooge Joker, and is pointing out his grave. We hope everyone has an awesome and safe holiday!

I've got a set of beautiful and awesome art to share with you that focuses on the origins of the Mandarin. These were created for Marvel's 2007 animated film, The Invincible Iron Man, by supervising director Frank Paur. Here's what said about about the illustration above on his Facebook page.
"The idea was to be a blend of comic illustration and ancient parchment painting telling the story of the origins of the Mandarin, our villain for the movie. We opted for something else and I left them all unfinished. But during the time they were fun but a total pain in my backside."
As for the art below, he says:
"More of the Iron Man murals of the Chinese elementals doing their thing. the bgs were done by Fedja Jovanovic."
These things would make amazing prints! I'm sad Marvel isn't making good animated movies anymore. ...

Writer Greg Weisman is best known for creating Disney's epic 1990s series Gargoyles, but he's also worked on a ton of other projects over the course of his career. I've been a fan of his work since Gargoyles, and he recently published a book called Rain of the Ghosts that I think a lot of you would enjoy. He has also been working on the highly anticipated Star Wars Rebels animated series for Disney and Lucasfilm, which is sure to be a hit.
Weisman was kind enough to take the time to answer a few questions for us regarding Gargoyles, Rain of the Ghosts and Star Wars Rebels. He shares his thoughts on a Gargoyles feature film, goes into detail about his new book, talks about his excitement for Star Wars Rebels, and answers a few other general questions. Our exclusive interview is definitely an interesting read, so check it out below!

In addition, they commissioned Phantom City Creative to design these limited edition posters, which will available for sale in the lobby.
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was a near flawless Batman film, one that was overlooked by a lot of people when it was first released. The movie was directed by Eric Radomski, Bruce W. Timm, Kevin Altieri, Boyd Kirkland, Frank Paur, and Dan Riba.

Check out these incredibly badass pieces of concept art created for Marvel's Hulk Vs. animated films. One features Hulk Vs. Wolverine, the other features Hulk Vs. Thor. I don't know about you, but I miss those movies. Hulk Vs. was my favorite. The concept art was posted by the films' producer and director Frank Paur, who had this to say about the illustration above,
This little number is an ode to the early Creepy comics cover by Frank Frazetta of Dracula vs. Frankenstein... except of course this is Hulk Vs. Wolverine. The second half of Hulk Vs., I wanted the art direction to be completely different than the Thor segment. Where Thor was all bright colors, self color lines and grandeur, Wolverine needed to be darker more down and dirty. My direction was "Make it a Universal monster movie, dammit!" and that's what I got. Again Painting by Joel Chang over rough layout by me.

Last week, we brought you some fantastic character art for Ninjasauras Rex, an original animated series being developed by Emmy Award winning director Frank Paur (HBO's Spawn, X-Men: Evolution) and Steven Meyer (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes). Today, we bring you some artwork for the pilot episode of the show!
The character descriptions that came with the concept art gave us a taste of the overall tone of the show. The pilot synopsis gives us even more insight into the relationship of the characters and their dynamics, the amount of action we can expect, as well as the mysterious world it takes place in. The dino-warrior series takes place in what seems like Feudal Japan, but in actuality, is a world where the country has become a mix of different races and languages. "This is what happened to Mad Max after everybody got their shit together." There's some pretty exciting...

If you grew up spending Saturday mornings with a bowl of cereal in your lap that would spill onto your pjs while you religiously watched shows like Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles, then we have a treat for you! Here's some great looking character art for an original new animated series, Ninjasauras Rex, which is being developed by Emmy Award winning director Frank Paur.
His credits include the aforementioned Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles, as well HBO's Spawn, X-Men: Evolution, Men In Black: The Series, Hulk Vs. Wolverine, and many more -- essentially, the man shaped and monopolized your childhood. Paur is developing Ninjasauras Rex with frequent collaborator Steven Meyer (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes).
Here's a short synopsis:
Ninjasauras Rex is a 1/2 hour animated adventure/comedy series that follows the exploits of a Ninja Tyrannosaurus Rex and his teenage sidekick Asper in what at first looks to be Feudal Japan.

You can’t talk about the DC animated world without first prefacing the golden standard set by the now legendary Bruce Timm and his equally notable collaborators Dan Riba, Frank Paur, Paul Dini, and Eric Radomski. You just can’t. As the first serious DC cartoon series since Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice has big shoes to fill, which only seems appropriate because so does the show’s protagonists. A show about young hand-me-down versions of the more famous Justice Leaguers would have been so easy to write off as an attempt to recapture the lightning in the bottle that was Timm’s greatest serial achievement, but with its first season wrapped, there’s no question that Young Justice has the youth accessibility and storytelling complexity to make it a worthy follow-up franchise.

Once again I found myself in the Marvel Comics panel, and once again I had no idea what anyone was talking about. So once again I'm pretty much just transcribing my notes.*
They started out teasing the new Man Without Fear. Possible characters to assume the role include Falcon, Nova, Gambit, the Black Panther, and Craven the Hunter. The answer will be revealed at the end of Shadowland. Hulk 24, out next month, will be the last by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGinnis. It wraps up the Red Hulk saga. There will be a definite ending. Jeff Parker and Gabriel Hartman will be the new creative team. Their first arc is titled "Scorched Earth." Some of the intelligentsia doesn't check in and a doomsday protocol will go into effect. It's a redemptive arc for Red Hulk in which he teams up with Thor, Iron Man, and some other dude. I'm guessing Captain America?...

Marvel and DC are both in the middle of a new movie strategy where they release animated films of some of their most popular characters direct to DVD. The two rivals have arguably been doing it for ages if you count the spin-off “movies” from their animated television series, but the last 4 years have seen a leap in activity. Have any of them topped Batman: Mask of the Phantasm? No, not really. However, each of the studios seems to be making huge strides with each successive movie. Marvel, having reached its 6 film marker (DC isn’t far behind at this point), have released them all in a box set. While it’s nice to have an anthology to put on the shelf instead of individual DVD cases, it ends up serving as a reminder of how far the films have come since the original Ultimate Avengers: The Movie back in...

One of the best series in all of TV these days is ''Batman: The Animated Series, '' the Emmy-winning afternoon program featuring the Dark Knight Lite in adventures filled with gorgeous, Deco-styled visuals. The show's popularity has even justified a big-screen incarnation, ''Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.''
Nonetheless, the movie has a couple of question marks hanging over it -- will parents want to take their kids to see something they can watch for free every weekday afternoon? And, how will they feel when they discover their youngsters are sitting through something more violent and macabre than the average installment of the tube version? Boxoffice prospects appear mild, though it'll likely clean up on video.
In ''Mask of the Phantasm, '' a new vigilante (who is actually not named in the movie, except in the title) has come to Gotham City. This one makes our hero seem timid in comparison: it wields an ax for a hand, and grimly murders mobsters. Batman/Bruce Wayne (voice of Kevin Conroy) soon finds himself knee-deep in guano -- an opportunistic, corrupt city councilman (Hart Bochner) is blaming him for the murders, and is also romancing Wayne's old flame, Andrea (Dana Delany).
Of course, it's not too long before the Joker (Mark Hamill) figures into the proceedings.
The animation is slightly better than the series' already high quality, though nowhere near the state-of-the-art of recent Disney efforts. Still, the visuals retain the extraordinarily evocative and imaginative polish of the series -- a World's Fair-style exhibit of the future is creatively rendered, particularly in its condemned, run-down stage (Batman and the Joker have a particularly neat Godzilla-like battle within a miniature cityscape).
Scripting is competent and clever, as good as if not better than your average live-action action flick. Shirley Walker (who also scores the TV series) contributes effectively operatic music.
Still, the mayhem level here may give parents pause when it comes to bringing younger children to the film. As opposed to, say, ''Tim Burton's the Nightmare Before Christmas, '' in which the gruesomeness is couched in a sweet and gentle atmosphere, the Gothic ''Mask of the Phantasm'' is practically fatalistic.
Its baroque tale of a couple whose love is doomed because they're too much alike is sophisticated (give the filmmakers points for not talking down to their audience), but the fact that the tale is steeped in high tragedy may not appeal to younger fans.
And the violence -- deaths, explosions and automotive accidents, all graphically rendered -- is almost on a level of Tim Burton's ''Batman'' movies (not for nothing is this rated PG). A wake-up call to kids that life can try one's soul isn't necessarily a bad idea, but in this particular forum, it seems a tad inappropriate.
