Some of Five-0's adventures have taken on a comic-book quality.
Now superheroes were at the heart of Hawaii Five-0 Season 9 Episode 9.
Fortunately, most of the team could still get in touch with their inner child. Excepting, surprisingly, the youngest, Tani and Junior. They're too cool for that scene.
This was a Jerry episode. And aren't those also the most fun ones?
Of course, Jerry was at the forefront of this investigation of the murder of a real-life urban vigilante. Jerry is a true believer in the archetypes of comic books. Was anyone surprised that "Jeremiah" had a pull list at Other Realms?
I loved Jerry's dissertation about why he wanted to be Batgirl as a child. As a misfit with an active imagination who didn't fit in, his explanation made perfect sense.

I wish I could call this article, "Something Interesting Happened," but I know as an online writer of little to no fame that we must grab you with the thing, and that thing is that I just saw my most "best" movies in one single day at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, and I don't believe it will ever be topped. I was a stat geek when I was a kid. Here's how I prove that to people: I played Nintendo's football game "10-Yard Fight" and kept track of passing, rushing and receiving stats. Keep in mind, there were no individual players, and the game didn't give you any statistical updates ever. After each play, I would jot down "Walter Payton, 7" or "Steve Largent, 16." I did this for a full imaginary season for 10...

Since the days of Walter Payton, Franco Harris, and Barry Sanders, the Running Back has evolved into one of the best if not the best athlete on the field today. A combination of speed, power, and agility are characteristics of the best running backs on the professional and college level today. Some of the most prolific players in football history excelled as Heisman Trophy winners and NFL MVPs, without them, football would be a much different sport than we know it as today.
Here are five of the best Running Backs in College Football who will leave defenses in the dust in 2014:
Honorable Mentions:
Travis Greene, Bowling Green (279 carries, 1,594 yards, 11 TDs)
-The former Wide Receiver found his calling in the backfield for the Falcons in 2013, rushing for 1,594 yards, good for 11th nationally and 2nd in the Mid American Conference this year.

Jeremy Piven is returning to TV, but as a different kind of power player than Entourage’s Ari Gold. On PBS’ drama Masterpiece: Mr. Selfridge (tonight, 9 p.m.), he stars as Harry Selfridge, the real-life American businessman who dreamed big enough to become a London department-store magnate. Take inventory of Piven’s answers below in EW’s Personality Quiz.
What’s the first place you head to when you walk into a department store?
First department you pass is cosmetics thanks to Harry Selfridge — but I go straight to casual men’s department. Rag & Bone, Jon Varvatos and Hugo Boss have great stuff.

Prometheus (20th Century Fox) Ridley Scott’s quasi-prequel to his 1979 classic “Alien” has an intergalactic exploratory team (Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba) arriving on a uncharted planet, where they discover what appears to be a dormant alien spacecraft and what might be the first discovery of intelligent life outside of Earth. Of course, everything goes straight to hell before you can scream “Don’t touch that egg!” Sumptuous visuals and strong performances from the cast (not to mention a nearly-perfect first half) can’t compensate for gaping plot and logic holes that nearly sink the proceedings in the film’s protracted second half. It feels as though some very crucial footage wound up on the cutting room floor. Perhaps, as with “Alien” and “Aliens” we’ll see a “Director’s Cut” of “Prometheus” arriving on DVD within the next year. In the meantime,...

Tried and true just like its namesake, EA Sports’ Madden franchise has made a career out of delivering successful football titles with strong competitive mechanics. Outside of real life, there’s nothing that can quite compare to the rush you get when you’re down by seven at the half then come back to win the game with a few fourth quarter drives that would make Joe Montana jealous. The Connected Careers mode gives you the chance to jump between coaching from the sideline and gridiron competition. Online battles are as intense as ever in Madden NFL 13 thanks to Madden’s loyal fan base, which will come back to the game year after year. What else can you do? Madden is the only football game in the business.
Unfortunately, while competition thrives on the football field, lack of competition in the game industry has hindered this series from reaching Hall of Fame heights.

Sophistication means different things to different people. For rapper Rick Ross, according to the video for “So Sophisticated,” it means hanging out with Meek Mill near his two Maybachs, giving a shout-out to the prison population, spending time in an abattoir with a sharp knife, rapping in a semi-undressed state, name dropping the late, great Walter Payton, shilling Ciroc, and talking about women’s lady parts with words we can’t print. Different strokes... [More after the jump...] As Ross ramps up for the release of July 3’s “God Forgives I Don’t,” he’s been busy: The video for “Touch ‘N You” featuring Usher...

It used to be easy to get away with hating a popular movie, but marketing and spoilers have made it harder than ever to escape
We've all been there. Saturday night at the movies. You're in your favorite seat. Miraculously, you didn't eat all your chocolate raisins during the trailers. The audience around you are having the time of their life: whoops and hollers fill the air.
But for some reason – the dialogue, the bad CGI, the way the hero keeps developing the exact superpowers he needs to get him out of the particular mess he happens to find himself in – you're not enjoying yourself.
Afterwards, you dissect the movie with your friends only to find, to your horror, that they liked it, too. In fact, they loved it. They thought it was the best thing to happen to them since Trinity ran up a wall and scissor-kicked that cop in The Matrix.

He was one of the greatest running backs ever. He was beloved in Chicago. He had the genteel nickname of "Sweetness." But it appears that NFL great Walter Payton had much darker side.
According to excerpts released to Si.com from the upcoming book "Sweetness: The Enigmatic Life of Walter Payton," author Jeff Pearlman reveals that the Chicago Bears' star, Super Bowl champ and Hall of Famer had extra-marital affairs, abused pain killers and was, at times, suicidal.
In the book Payton's longtime agent Bud Holmes says of the running back, "I'd see him walk out of the locker room with jars of painkillers, and he'd eat them like they were a snack...Walter was pounding his body with medication."
According to the book, Payton's life was in turmoil as his relationship with his wife Connie crumbled.
Pearlman writes, "Payton said he imagined picking up his gun, murdering those around him,...

The man known as White Owl answered the phone, and I spoke.
“So I have a stupid idea,” I said.
“No idea is stupid,” Owl replied. “Let me hear it.”
“I want a theme song.”
“A theme song? For what?”
“For my Walter Payton book.”
Long pause—for effect.
“I love it,” said Owl. “I absolutely love it!”
Five months later, here I am, perhaps the only author in America with his very own jingle. When my new book, “Sweetness:...

We're headed towards unknown waters, sports fans; for the first time ever (?) the country will possibly be staring at its two highest profile professional sports leagues (I don't count Nascar until they start loading .50-cal machine guns on the hood) locked out. Trying to disseminate what is bullpucky and what is financial reality has little bearing on us, the consumer. However, there's been an exceptional amount of progress on the NFL front; by the end of Friday, we may have the
framework in place for an agreement. The incentive is now even greater for the NFL to beat the NBA by getting back to business, even if that means skipping most of the preseason to usher out-of-shape behemoths onto the field in an asthmatic overture of pulled groin muscles and strained hamstrings. Knock on wood, let's get this one done boys.
The hope, and perhaps the real financial bottom line,...

Chicago – Da Super Fans were out in force on a spectacular Saturday night at the Park West in Chicago, as the TBS Network’s “Just for Laughs” Festival presented “Da Bears Movie Dat Wasn’t.” George Wendt, Joe Mantegna, Horatio Sanz and Da Coach, Mike Ditka, provided the hilarity.
Da Bears Movie Dat Wasn’t was an early 1990s screenplay by Rob Smigel (”TV Funhouse,” “Triumph the Insult Comic Dog”) and Bob Odenkirk (”Mr Show”). It was an extension of the popular Super Fans SNL sketch (the greatest fans of the Chicago Bears), known for the famous catch phrase, “Da Bears!”

No, it’s not 3D as in James Cameron’s Avatar and annoying eyewear. The original Tecmo Bowl has been updated with all new 3D models in the upcoming release of Tecmo Bowl Throwback, which is being developed by, you guessed it, Tecmo. For those traditionalists, you’ll still be able to play the game in glorious 2D. But if you want to see the new 3D models incorporated in this re-release, watch the below trailer:
You may have noticed that the players shown in the game are a bunch of guys of which you’ve never heard. Sadly, EA Sports’ license agreement with the NFL and NFL union prevents Tecmo Bowl Throwback from including Walter Payton, Bo Jackson, Marcus Allen, or NFL team names. However, all of the original player statistics will be in the game so you’ll be able to locate your favorite old players and edit...

John Cusack learned he should stick to acting with his first piece for the Huffington Post Chicago - which was "riddled with more errors than the 2006 Cubs," according to one blogger. Cusack, who was writing about his childhood as a fan of the Cubs, the White Sox, Michael Jordan and Walter Payton, managed to misspell the names of three Cubs players and of playwright Eugene O'Neill. Cusack also erroneously stated that Sammy Sosa played for the '89 Cubs. Finally, the "High Fidelity...
