Plot: The mystery surrounding the enigmatic void on the west pasture of the Abbott family ranch deepens as Royal and his wife Cecelia struggle to keep their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter’s sudden disappearance. The stakes have never been higher for the Abbotts, who now face threats on multiple fronts with profound and unforeseen circumstances that could shake the very foundations of time itself.
Review: With so many shows on television and streaming platforms, it can be nearly impossible to distinguish yourself from the pack. While Outer Range may be a complex blend of genres, the first season was unlike anything else. Blending elements of everything from Yellowstone to Arrival and The Twilight Zone, Outer Range ended its first season with some substantial cliffhangers, while the second season wastes no time diving right into the murky complexity of this story of multiverses, parallel timelines and so much more.

Don't let the title fool you: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" isn't the only one of her kind. The "Slayer" line goes back millennia, and when one falls, another young girl is called on by destiny. In the season 1 finale, "Prophecy Girl," Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) briefly dies but is revived. The writers took advantage of that technicality in season 2 to introduce another slayer, Kendra (Bianca Lawson) — but she met a swift end.
Enter Faith Lehane (no relation to Dennis) in season 3, played by Eliza Dushku and sharing her actress' Boston origins. Her name is a virtue, but Faith is a rebel — so much so, she bounces from ally to enemy and then back again. In an interview with "Buffy" writers and producers, they discussed how, from the beginning, Faith was meant to be a "psycho" Slayer who would be a foil for Buffy. Marti Noxon called her Buffy's "shadow self,...

Netflix announced on Thursday its new Brazilian original series Spectros, which sees exec producer, writer and director Douglas Petrie partnering with Brazilian production company Moonshot Pictures for an eight-episode show.
Set in Liberdade, a neighborhood in Sao Paulo known for its large Japanese community, the series will revolve around a group of five teenagers inadvertently drawn into an unearthly reality they cannot comprehend. Confronted by increasingly bizarre and grim events, the group will reach the conclusion that someone is bringing back the dead and those spirits want vengeance for the mistakes in the past.

Kingpin is officially headed back to Hell’s Kitchen.
As one of the most poised, well-rounded characters on the Daredevil roster, Marvel fans reacted with glee after hearing the news that Vincent D’Onofrio had signed on to reprise as Matt Murdock’s greatest foe – hell, showrunner Steven S. DeKnight even went so far as to suggest that Wilson Fisk deserves his own six-part miniseries.
But before we get swept up in rumors and hearsay, here’s the latest: Vincent D’Onofrio has officially completed his first reading of the script for Daredevil season 3, and took to Twitter (via Cbm) to inform curious fans. The post was accompanied by a dark and rather foreboding image of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, though it’s unclear if this is an entirely new still image or, in the more likely scenario, one that has been dusted off and pulled from the Marvel archives.

Wilson Fisk is returning to Hell’s Kitchen. Not that anyone had any doubt, mind you, but earlier this week, Deadline confirmed that Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise the role of Kingpin in Daredevil season 3, with Erik Oleson taking over as showrunner. The latter will now pick up the torch from Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who graduated to The Defenders – for the record, only Ramirez saw Marvel and Netflix’s team-up series through to the finish line, after Petrie bowed out early on.
Rumors of a potential return for D’Onofrio’s villain have gripped the Internet ever since the tail-end of Daredevil season 2. Indeed, once Marvel debunked those reports that initially linked the actor with an appearance in The Defenders, where he arguably would have stolen the thunder from Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra, Netflix subscribers quickly came to the conclusion that Kingpin was being held until Daredevil‘s third season.

Marvel has planted its seeds far and wide over the past few years in the television landscape, but that volume has so far yielded mixed results.
While rival DC has found success by focusing on familiar franchises like “The Flash,” “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” and the Batman origins tale on “Gotham,” Marvel has been a bit more stingy with its marquee characters. For example, ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” lives in the world of the Avengers, yet never became a hit partly because it focused on lesser-known characters.
But that’s not always a hindrance. Many of Marvel’s Netflix series, especially “Jessica Jones,” have been critically acclaimed partly because they felt like they hadn’t been overly mined previously. It takes a visionary showrunner, in this age of so many superhero tales, to bring a fresher take to the genre and keep interest high.

Welcome back to another edition of Lrm's Fantasy Fridays, where myself and Jeremy Scully- two real-life best friends- pretend to be studio execs by calling some major shots. In the past, we rounded out the cast of Ben Affleck's The Batman, we assigned directors for several major upcoming superhero flicks, and today we set our sights on Marvel and it's wonderful relationship with Netflix.
See, say what you will about Marvel's exploits on the ABC network like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but their work on Netflix has been undeniably stellar. With shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, which are all leading up towards Iron Fist and a The Defenders crossover event, Marvel Studios has shown that they can make some amazing television with their partners over at Netflix.
With that in mind, the two of us mused about what other Marvel properties should get the Netflix series treatment.

Jessica Jones is probably one of the darkest properties that Marvel has brought to life. The main reason for that was David Tennant’s Kilgrave, who was one hell of a disturbing villain. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Marvel has planned for Season 2, which will be set after the events of The Defenders. During an interview with EW, executive producer Melissa Rosenberg talked about Jessica Jones and how she is helping with the character in The Defenders, which is currently in development.
“My colleagues Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie, who are doing Defenders, they’ve shared material. We’ve sat down for many conversations about what are they doing, what’s happening with Jessica? They want my input, they want all the different showrunners’ input on the characters that they’re most familiar with. Marvel was very smart in hiring those guys, because they’re really collaborative.

Marvel’s Hero for Hire Luke Cage and Iron Fist are currently considered priority over at Netflix, and the company’s superhero slate means that new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones won’t enter active production until the heroes of Hell’s Kitchen unite for that all-important The Defenders series.

One of the unseen and often-unnoticed challenges in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to do with keeping the characters consistent between films, seasons, and series. As much as I love Joss Whedon’s Avengers film, I maintain that the Loki in that film compared to the Loki in the first Thor film is night and day, and the reason is understandable. In The Avengers, Loki needed to serve as a plot device — a catalyst for the Avengers to unite. As such, I needed to get off my high horse and accept that the film had different plans than to make him a sympathetic villain.
These same challenges affect the McU in all its forms, including in the Netflix TV front, with shows like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders, and, of course, Jessica Jones. Speaking of Jessica Jones, this is a character who will be popping up for the second...

If you've managed to check out either season of Daredevil, or the first season of Jessica Jones, you'll know that Marvel is really doing the Lord's work on Netflix. Where the Marvel movies in theaters tend to be big, fun, and family friendly, their Netflix shows are smaller in scale, and darker in tone. But that doesn't mean they're any less ambitious than their cinematic counterparts.
Ever since Daredevil first took to the streets of Hell's Kitchen last year, Marvel Entertainment knew they'd want to cross him over with three other street-level Marvel characters: Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Like in The Avengers before them, The Defenders will likely pit these four superheroes against some force or villain that none of them could handle on their own.
It's definitely a great idea, but like with any comic book property, there is always room for things to go wrong.

Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, the duo who served as show runners on the recent second season of Marvel and Netflix's "Daredevil," are officially set to take on that role for the upcoming "Marvel's The Defenders" limited event series on the streaming giant.
At the same time, Drew Goddard has come on board the project as an executive producer. Goddard was involved in the development of the first season of "Daredevil".
The fifth in Marvel's five-series deal with Netflix, the series will bring together the lead heroes from the four previous series, including the already aired "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" along with the upcoming "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist". The group will face their biggest threat ever.
Unlike their individual series, which have had thirteen episode seasons, this will be a miniseries of only a few episodes - how many is unclear at this point.

The Defenders will feature some familiar faces both in front of and behind the camera when it makes its 2017 Netflix premiere: the mini-series that teams up Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist will be executive produced by Daredevil's Drew Goddard, with season two showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez reprising their roles. Marvel made the announcement today, praising Petrie and Ramirez's work on Daredevil and calling the team "as formidable as the Defenders themselves." It's good news for people who thought Daredevil's second season was better than its first, and probably the opposite for people who thought the show fell victim to the dreaded sophomore slump.

Due to enter production towards the tail-end of 2016, Marvel is already assembling its chess pieces for The Defenders, the small screen ensemble series that will signal the coming together of Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Daredevil.
Overseeing that hotly-anticipated team feature will be Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who already know a thing or two about Hell’s Kitchen and its eccentric inhabitants. Outside of work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Orange is the New Black, both Petrie and Ramirez worked as showrunners on Marvel’s standalone Daredevil series, and today’s news ensures that their tenure in the studio’s ever-expanding universe will continue long into 2017.

This article contains major spoilers for the whole of Daredevil seasons one and two.
It's only been a week since Netflix released season two of Marvel's Daredevil, but lots of fans and viewers would already declare Jon Bernthal's take on Frank Castle to be the best screen version of the Punisher to date. He's not even the principal antagonist, but he steals scenes left and right all the way through the season.
Following the acclaimed portrayal of Wilson Fisk last season, new showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez provide a more humanised spin on the character than is traditionally depicted in the comics, without having him get pally with his neighbours, like the 2004 film did, or having him indiscriminately blow up free runners with a bazooka,...

In 2015, Marvel Studios opened up a whole new side of their Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the company spent years making feature films and television shows intended for all audiences, Daredevil marked a turn into much darker territory, delivering a street-level hero who gets quite a bit bloody in his fight against crime. The show completely blew us away with its first season, and this past week we finally got our second dose. Daredevil Season 2 is a bit different than its predecessor, not only because Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez have replaced Steven DeKnight as showrunners, but because some of the spotlight was shared with Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal), and Elektra (played by Elodie Yung). As the show progresses, we not only see the escalation that has arrived in the world of vigilantism . with Daredevil putting people behind bars and Punisher putting them in...

Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez recently gave an interview on what it was like to be showrunners for Marvel’s Daredevil season 2, as well as how fitting in The Punisher and Elektra wasn’t so easy.
On making sure that the show stayed true to it’s title character Doug Petrie said:
Doug Petrie: “We had 13 episodes of watching this Matt Murdock and we really wanted to make sure we were telling the story of Matt, which is really hard to do when you’ve got Elektra and The Punisher trying to steal the show at every turn. We let those characters try, but we always bring it back to Matt, this tortured, Catholic, complicated, self-loathing, heroic, blue collar New York pro bono lawyer, who’s also blind, who also has a homicidal streak that he hasn’t worked out yet. That’s what we were serving first and foremost,...

During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.
The film also stars young actress Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer (the “Magic Mike” films, HBO’s “The Normal Heart”), Margaret Qualley (HBO’s “The Leftovers”), Keith David (TV’s “Community”) and Oscar winner Kim Basinger (“L.A. Confidential”).

In season one, Daredevil battled an evil businessman intent on destroying Hell's Kitchen for his own profit, a ninja, more than his fair share of thugs, a very tight black thermal and so much more, but that's nothing compared to season two. Kicking off Friday, March 18, the new season of Marvel's Daredevil will introduce not only a boatload of more ninjas, but antihero Frank Castle aka The Punisher and dangerous assassin/ex-girlfriend Elektra Natchios also make their way to the Netflix series. What can viewers expect from them? "Violence, sociopathy and temptation," according to showrunner and executive producer Douglas Petrie. And he's not kidding on either front. Jon Bernthal's Frank...

Superhero movie sequels often suffer from the disease of more: more villains, more costumed sidekicks, more (and bigger) explosions, etc. Some of this comes from an understandable desire to top what the audience saw in the original movie, but often it seems to arise from a fear that the superhero at the center of it all is kinda boring, and needs to be surrounded by as many colorful allies and rogues as possible. Netflix's Daredevil had a very strong first season with lots to recommend: great fight sequences (particularly the single-take hallway fight), a compelling villain in Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, and strong supporting performances from Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Vondie Curtis-Hall, and (for an episode) Scott Glenn. What it never entirely figured out — neither under original showrunner Drew Goddard, nor his replacement Steven DeKnight — was what made the title character, played by Charlie Cox, compelling in and of himself.

Usually, when a TV show is on its third set of showrunners before its second season has begun, it's the sign of major creative trouble. With Netflix's Daredevil — which almost everyone (myself included) really liked last year — it's been a sign that the previous showrunners were too in-demand to stick around for very long. Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, The Martian) started out as the man in charge, but left early in the first season to work on the (since-canceled) Spider-Man spin-off movie The Sinister Six. Spartacus creator Steven DeKnight came in to steer the ship for the rest of season 1, but didn't want to stick around long term, given other opportunities (one of which turned out to be directing Pacific Rim 2). So now Daredevil has turned to a pair of writers who worked on the first season — Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy,...

No one knew what to expect from the first season of Daredevil. The first collaboration between Netflix and Marvel, it was an undeniably risky proposition from the outset, tasked with carving out a distinctive place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe under the constraints of a TV budget while also developing a complicated cast of characters over the course of 13 episodes (a much trickier process in terms of pacing than that faced by a two-hour film).
As it turned out, the risk largely paid off. Daredevil unfurled as a gritty and grounded excursion into a much seedier corner of the McU, bolstered by brutally realistic action (that hallway fight sequence, if slightly overhyped, was still a bruising, balletic joy) and one truly exceptional performance. As the mercurial yet dignified Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Vincent D’Onofrio was nothing short of mesmerizing, breaking with Marvel tradition...
