If there is one DC Extended Universe movie with a more dedicated fanbase compared to the rest, it is Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Having cast the most beloved characters—Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman—in his film, Snyder had a brilliant idea for the franchise that would have made it one of the greatest ever.
Snyder had lofty goals for the DC Extended Universe (Dceu), which were sadly thwarted. From the very beginning, the director had the ideal plot for Justice League. One of the most anticipated storylines that fans were looking forward to was seeing Henry Cavill’s Superman face off against the ruthless villain Darkseid, but it seems that those dreams have been dashed.

It’s no secret that Darkseid and Thanos are two of the most powerful and feared villains in the comic book universe. But with Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War’s phenomenal successes, one character in particular has emerged as a pop culture icon: The Mad Titan.
In the MCU films, Josh Brolin’s Thanos truly brought the dread, ferocity, spectacle, and shock factor when he assembled the Infinity Stones and snapped half of life away. However, the DC Universe and its heroes have also been afflicted by Darkseid. Naturally, Darkseid and Thanos have caused problems for the members of the primary superhero teams from DC (Justice League) and Marvel (Avengers) through their many battles. So who would win if Darkseid and Thanos faced off?

The rave and unhinged obsession of people regarding their favorite film or TV show is something that is unfortunately well-documented, which can often times lead to some seriously disturbing circumstances. This time, that situation was caused by none other than haters of filmmaker Zack Snyder and his vision of the Dceu dubbed ‘The Snyderverse’.

This was an extremely unhinged and concerning response to the star’s public show of support for Snyderverse’s revival.

Zack Snyder, the veteran director known for directing Zack Snyder’s Justice League and several other DC movies, depicted Darkseid in his 2021 movie. Being shown as an unstoppable terror who destroys everything in his path, Darkseid is indeed quite a terrifying character.
Well, although he is a tyrant in his universe, Darkseid once fought Marvel’s one of the most terrifying villains in a crossover event in the comics. Sadly, the DC villain was defeated quite humiliatingly as the match seemed very unfair!

Mythology offers some of the most enduring and rich stories when it comes to epic storytelling. And at the top of the pantheon of mythical figures sits Zeus, the king of the gods in Greek mythology. Throughout Hollywood history, many stars have tried their hands at playing this powerful deity, with varying degrees of success.
Having said that, it makes sense that we should honor the actors who gorgeously portrayed Zeus on screen. Since he is the undisputed leader of Mount Olympus, it is about time he had his own list. Those who have portrayed Zeus on screen have done so with a certain stoicism that is more in line with ancient Greek depictions.

[This story contains spoilers for Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire.]
Every Zack Snyder film has a handful of sequences that even his fiercest critics can’t help but admire, and in the case of Rebel Moon, Staz Nair may have received the most rousing one of all.
Nair, whose previous big break came in the form of a Dothraki warrior on the later seasons of Game of Thrones, now inhabits the role of Tarak, a former prince who’s lost his way for reasons that will become apparent in Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver and the extended R-rated director’s cuts of both films. The audience first meets an enslaved Tarak at Hickman’s (Ray Porter) ranch on Neu-Wodi, as Kora (Sofia Boutella) and Gunnar (Michiel Huisman) hope to recruit him for their newfound rebellion against Admiral Noble’s (Ed Skrein) hostile takeover of their Veldt farming village.

The premise of Zack Snyder's upcoming two-part sci-fi epic "Rebel Moon" is lifted directly from Akira Kurosawa's 1954 classic "Seven Samurai." Sofia Boutella plays Kora, a former army officer who must defend her modest moon-bound home from an encroaching battalion of fascists -- fascists she once served under. Before the enemy can attack, Kora has to scour the galaxy for a small team of dedicated warriors to mount a defense.
Kurosawa's premise is so simple and effective, it has been recycled many times since 1954. Famously, "The Magnificent Seven" transposed the story to the Old West, while "A Bug's Life" set it in a world populated by anthropomorphic insects. Jimmy T. Murakami's 1980 film "Battle Beyond the Stars" was, like "Rebel Moon," also a sci-fi rendition of Kurosawa's tale.
The first half of "Rebel Moon" will be released on Netflix on December 22, 2023, and, like most of Snyder's films, promises to be enormously overblown.

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the CW/Warner Bros. TV two-part season one finale of Naomi, ep. 12 “Ready or Not” and ep. 13 “Who Am I?”
Imagine finding out that your adopted parents took the lives of your biological parents.
Something that just was never in the DNA of Jonathan and Martha Kent, Superman’s down-to-Earth guardians.
But life can’t always imitate that of your mentor, the Man of Steel; a harsh truth that alien Naomi (Kaci Walfall) learned tonight on the two-hour season finale of the Ava DuVernay-Jill Blankenship co-created series.
But before we get there, in part one of the season finale, “Ready or Not,” our protagonist is given a locket by fellow alien Akira (Stephanie March), who was her mother’s friend. She’s re-building a ship to get Naomi back to her home planet, a mission her Earth parents Greg and Jennifer McDuffie (Barry Watson...

Exclusive: Audible is launching a Cold War-era scripted comedy podcast series from Paul Young’s Make Good Content. The Amazon-owned audio service has set Operation Cordelia, created by Berlin-based writer-director Kevin Napier and produced by Young.
The series, which launches September 9, stars Luka Jones (Shrill), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), Sasheer Zamata (Home Economics), Andy Daly (Veep), James Urbaniak (Venture Brothers), voice-over legend Phil Proctor (Firesign Theatre) and audiobook veterans Scott Brick, John Lee, Ray Porter and Simon Vance.
Set in the early 1970s, the espionage comedy follows the CIA’s most emotionally unstable case officer, voiced by Jones, as he attempts to stop a mass terror attack in West Berlin, all told using “found audio” such as news reports, tapped phone calls, bugged offices, and people secretly wearing wires.
Napier is best known for his work on FX’s Married and Young from Comedy Central’s Reno 911 and Key and Peele.

The DC movie-verse is getting a little bit smaller.
Long gestating DC Comics adaptations “New Gods” with director Ava DuVernay and screenwriter Tom King, and “The Trench” with director James Wan and producer Peter Safran are not moving forward at Warner Bros., the studio announced on Thursday.

The projects will remain in their skillful hands if they were to move forward in the future.”

The most gabbed-about pop culture event of, well, at least this past weekend was Zack Snyder’s “Justice League,” made available in its full, nearly-four-hour vision on HBO Max on March 18. It’s now restored from the supposed hack job done upon the project by Joss Whedon once he stepped in for the original 2017 release. And while releasing the Snyder Cut was key to HBO Max’s path to the 150 million subscribers it needs to be a leading force in streaming, that doesn’t mean we’re going to be seeing more “Justice League” movies anytime soon.
Snyder recently revealed that Warner Bros. hasn’t expressed any inclination toward making more movies with him, and to that point, it does seem the studio is taking its DC Extended Universe in a different direction: “Justice League” cast members like Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill aren’t reappearing in upcoming reboots of “The Batman” and “Superman,...

There are so many things about 2017’s Justice League that disappointed fans, but the absence of Darkseid is one of the biggest. This will be corrected in Zack Snyder’s upcoming HBO Max director’s cut, though, with actor Ray Porter set to have a minor but key role as the ruler of Apokolips.
As Dceu lovers will know, Darkseid was not the main villain of Jl, as he was to have properly made his mark in the planned sequel. But could Snyder get to finish his plans for the big blue bad guy at some point? Perhaps.
While taking part in a League of Mayhem live stream from The Nerd Queens, the filmmaker was asked about if he had plans for what Darkseid would get up to once he came to Earth himself in Justice League 2, following the defeat of his general Steppenwolf. Despite being around for over seven years, the Dceu has announced just as many projects that never made it out of development hell as it has actual movies. It took Warner Bros.’ shared mythology a long time to settle on a creative direction and that led to numerous titles like Green Lantern Corps, Gotham City Sirens, Nightwing, Ben Affleck’s The Batman and many more quickly stagnating before disappearing from memory entirely.
Justice League was initially announced as the first of a two-part saga, but as we all know, some serious behind the scenes turmoil plagued the Dceu’s all-star epic. Joss Whedon essentially reshot the entire movie at the request of the studio following Zack Snyder’s departure, which led to such a sustained level of backlash from fans that the 300 director was eventually invited back into the fold to finally complete his original vision.

When the news broke earlier today that Jared Leto would return to the Dceu as the Joker in Zack Snyder’s newly expanded version of Justice League, the question immediately arose: was Leto supposed to even be in the original movie in the first place?
The answer, to the best of our knowledge, was “no,” which leads to an even bigger riddle (not to mix our villains): just how different will the new version, now called Zack Snyder’s Justice League, be from the 2017 theatrical movie?
Leto’s encore as the Clown Prince of Crime was revealed by the Hollywood Reporter, which indicated that the Oscar-winning actor had joined the additional photography that is now underway for Snyder’s project, which is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2021 on HBO Max.

We’ve hardly even seen much of Zack Snyder’s Justice League yet, but it’s already better than the version released in cinemas back in 2017. At least, that’s according to the one and only Darkseid himself.
Today, Snyder dropped our first look at a redesigned Steppenwolf online, which joins a previous clip the filmmaker has shared as pretty much all we’ve laid eyes on of the Snyder Cut to date. But that’s enough for star Ray Porter to declare that it’s already better than what Joss Whedon came up with for the theatrical edit.
Porter, whose uber-villain was not featured at all in the Whedon cut, took to Twitter today following Snyder’s post to praise what we’ve seen of his movie so far, saying:
“A 30 second video and a low res still. Already better than the entirety of that “other” version. F**k the trolls.

There’s a lot of talk going into the Justice League Snyder Cut about Darkseid’s role in the movie, but it’s worth a reminder that Steppenwolf will still be the film’s main villain. That might illicit groans from some, due to how boring he was in the theatrical cut, but the good thing is this is Zack Snyder’s version of the antagonist. We’re not entirely sure how his characterization will differ from what we’ve seen before, but he’ll definitely look a whole lot better. And scarier.
Today, Snyder revealed our first look at Steppenwolf in his cut of the flick. The filmmaker took to Vero to share a low-res pic of the villain from behind. While we can’t see his face in this image, we can already make out how much more detailed and monstrous this depiction of the general from Apokolips is.

DC FanDome is set to deliver a lot of DC goodness later this month, and one thing we know to expect is a trailer for the Justice League Snyder Cut. It’ll be interesting to see what the trailer features and what it doesn’t, though. Obviously, we know the plot, seeing as we’ve seen this movie in a different form already, so it’ll likely tease the new additions to the film that fans desperately want to see. A brief glimpse at Darkseid, for one, will blow everyone’s mind.
We’re not sure if the ruler of Apokolips himself will make an appearance in the promo, but one of his disciples apparently will. Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Randolph says she got to watch an unfinished version of the sneak peek and, when asked by a fan if she’ll be reacting to the trailer when it’s released,...

A new clip from Zack Snyder’s Justice League has just been released and you can check it out in the tweet down below.
Without a doubt, the Snyder Cut of Warner Bros.’ 2017 box office bomb is my most-anticipated upcoming superhero movie. It’s a weird feeling to be really looking forward to an alternate version of a film I hated, but I’m very curious to see whether Snyder can achieve the impossible and wrangle the existing footage into something special.
After such a heartfelt and committed campaign to make the Snyder Cut happen, fans are now eager to get a taste of what’s coming down the pipeline. As such, it seems that we’re going to be treated to some new clips giving us an idea of the changes in store for us. Already, we’ve seen a hint of what Darkseid is going to look like and now,...

Ever since the release of “Justice League” in 2017, many DC Comics fans have been actively campaigning to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut of the film. The movement began after director Zack Snyder, who had previously helmed two movies set in DC’s cinematic universe, 2013’s “Man of Steel” and 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” left the project in the middle of post-production amidst a family tragedy. “The Avengers” director Joss Whedon stepped in to get the project across the finish line through a process that included substantial reshoots and retools.
The result was not particularly well met. Critics had mixed to negative reactions to the film, with Variety calling it “as close to generic as a sharp-witted high-octane comic-book movie can get.” Audiences were also lukewarm on the film; “Justice League” grossed $229 million domestically and $657.9 million worldwide against a reported $300 million budget, a drop of more than $200 million from the gross of its predecessor.

There were many elements of the theatrical version of Justice League that came under fire from fans, and the design of the main villain Steppenwolf was one of them. Many criticized the Apokoliptian general’s appearance as underwhelming, not to mention of a lesser quality, in terms of CG animation, than one would expect for a major blockbuster. The good news is that the Snyder Cut won’t have the same problem, as it’ll feature the original depiction of the foe.
Over on Vero, one user asked Zack Snyder if he wanted to “break Twitter” by revealing that “Steppenwolf has his original design in your [Justice League]?” The director then responded with, “Is that not well known?” In other words – yes, the original Steppenwolf will be in his movie.
We got our first glimpse at Steppenwolf in the Dceu in a deleted scene for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

After waiting nearly three years and counting for it, DC fans are gearing up to see the Snyder Cut of Justice League at long last. The theatrical release of the movie is one of the most infamous superhero flicks of all time because of how major studio-mandated reshoots completely changed the tone and content of the story. In a rare move, Warner Bros. is now admitting their mistake and is sharing Zack Snyder’s original vision on HBO Max next year.
And this really will be his vision this time, as the filmmaker has promised that he made no compromises with his cut. Twitter user Scott McClellan has shared some screenshots of Snyder’s conversation with a fan on Vero. Warner Bros. is wasting no time in hyping up Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the legendary “Snyder Cut” which will finally make its debut on HBO Max in 2021.
The Snyder Cut footage was first revealed via Jason Momoa’s Instagram page before it made it to official HBO Max channels. Momoa has long been a vocal proponent of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement, and it was Snyder himself who pursued Momoa for the role of Aquaman.
The big hook here isn’t the ancient depiction of Darkseid that it appears Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman has stumbled on (and been unsettled by), even though this is indeed new footage. Instead, it’s the reveal of actual footage of Darkseid. While that’s the same image of the character we’ve previously seen in stills and concept art, it’s still a big deal to get him here.

Zack Snyder has teased a new villain for his recut version of “Justice League.”
On Wednesday, the director posted a picture of DC Comics villain Darkseid on his Twitter with the caption “He’s coming… to HBO Max.” Ray Porter was originally attached to play the supervillain in segments of “Justice League” that went unused in the film’s final version.

No details have been revealed on how Darkseid will function in the narrative of the new version of “Justice League.” Ciarán Hinds played Steppenwolf, the main antagonist of the theatrically released version of the film.
Since the release of “Justice League” in November 2017, both talent and comic book fans have campaigned online for the release of the once-mythical “Snyder cut” of the film. The movement was born from public knowledge of the film’s trouble production process and middling reception.

The Snyder Cut of Justice League was a long time coming, with fans fervently petitioning its release for close to two and a half years before finally getting their way. Whether it can correct the missteps of Joss Whedon’s version remains to be seen, but now that the film is making its way to HBO Max, teasers and snippets of information are flying out faster than Superman racing to save the day. Among these was the reveal of the actor who played Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s film, and no, it isn’t a certain WWE wrestler.

The news that every DC fan has been waiting for broke earlier this week – Warner Bros. is finally about to release the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Since the theatrical version failed to satisfy, uh, basically everyone, Zack Snyder has revealed bits and pieces about his original vision over time, so we already know something of what to expect. One of the biggest additions in the Snyder Cut will be the inclusion of Darkseid, for instance, as the Lord of Apokolips was entirely absent from the Whedon cut.
It’s long been reported that actor Ray Porter played the arch-villain of the DC universe in the movie, but he hasn’t been able to confirm it before now due to the secrecy surrounding the Snyder Cut. Given that it’s now set to release next year, though, Porter has finally come clean on social media.

Before we go any further, let’s get one thing perfectly clear: I’m in no way championing the “Release the Snyder Cut” movement. Though I would watch an alternate version of Justice League if it one day found its way to home video, I know better than to hold my breath waiting for it. Warner Bros. have more important matters to attend to – like The Batman, Joker, Wonder Woman 1984 and The Suicide Squad, for instance – and need not look backward.
That said, I’ll forever remain a trivia junkie, so my ears are bound to perk whenever something such as today’s bit of news arises – especially when it pertains to Darkseid. As you may know, the ruler of Apokolips would’ve had a cameo role in Zack Snyder’s picture, thereby setting up his greater involvement in the ill-fated Justice League, Part Two.

As a realist, I can’t rule out the possibility of Warner Bros. releasing the elusive Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League on home video at some point down the line, just as they once did with Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. That said, my gut tells me they won’t give up the goods anytime soon.
Regardless, that hasn’t stopped a very vocal minority from relentlessly campaigning for such a thing to see the light of day in the very near future. In fact, what would be a substantial some of money to us mere mortals has been raised by way of crowd funding, though it’s hardly enough to make a major motion picture studio bat an eyelash.
As luck would have it, one guy who’s siding with the diehards is that of Ray Porter, whom we recently learned would’ve voiced Darkseid in Snyder’s untouched film.

For the average theatergoer, going to a production of a William Shakespeare play can either be an enlightening night of poetic culture or it can feel like homework. The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles’ production of Henry IV, helmed by Tony Award-winning Daniel Sullivan, lands somewhere in the middle of that spectrum, but leans towards enlightening and fun, thanks to its impressive cast of star power that is fronted by Academy Award-winning Tom Hanks, Scandal‘s Joe Morton, and Legion actor Hamish Linklater.
Henry IV, Shakespeare’s two-part play that makes for a three hour-plus theater experience at the Japanese Garden on the V.A. campus, can be considered a frenemy bromance between Linklater’s Hal and Hanks’ Falstaff, the latter being a character that appears multiple times in the Shakespeare-iverse. Hal is the son of the titular king, played with an appropriate patriarchial authority by Morton.

The sixth season of Lost has been released on DVD and Blu-ray. As promised, the sets include a 12-minute epilogue that takes place after Hurley (Jorge Garcia) has taken over as the new caretaker of the island. As promised, "The New Man in Charge" gives us a few more answers to various island questions.
The two-chapter Lost epilogue opens up on a warehouse in Guam that's producing Dharma-branded food and supplies. Employees Glenn (Ray Porter) and Hector (Ted Rooney) are in a hurry because they need to get stuff ready for another airplane drop.
Ben Linus (Michael Emerson) enters and tells them that he's from the "home office" and that their services are no longer needed. The place is being closed down and he gives them envelopes with lots of cash as severance packages (probably from Hurley's lottery winnings).
