Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels is being renewed for Season 2, Variety has learned from sources.
The show, which stars Aldis Hodge as Cross, has yet to debut its first season or even set a premiere date. But according to sources, Amazon was impressed enough with what they have seen from the first season to greenlight the second and begin casting. Jeanine Mason has reportedly already been cast in Season 2.
Reps for Amazon declined to comment.
If “Cross” proves to be popular, it would be the latest successful Amazon series based on a long-running novel character. The company found themselves with a massive hit on their hands courtesy of “Reacher” starring Alan Ritchson, based on the Jack Reacher novels written by Lee Child. Likewise, Amazon’s longest-running series to date was the cop drama “Bosch,” based on the Harry Bosch novels written by Michael Connelly.

Tom Cruise is the personification of the word ‘Superstar’ thanks to his unbeatable charm and a career graph that only seems to go upwards. Naturally, a superstar of his caliber will have gigantic paychecks coming his way, often upsetting the gender pay gap.

Adan Canto, star of "Designated Survivor" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," has died at the age of 42. The actor had been privately battling appendiceal cancer, according to Deadline. Canto managed to parlay a musical career in Mexico into a successful acting career in Hollywood. He most recently starred in the Fox drama "The Cleaning Lady" as the male lead in the first two seasons alongside Elodie Yung.
Canto had originally intended to return for the show's upcoming third season, but his health prevented that from being a possibility. The series will pay tribute to Canto during the season 3 premiere. Fox and Warner Bros. TV had the following to say in a joint statement:
"We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto. A wonderful actor and dear friend, we were honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment families since his U.

After a decorated career in television, The Family Plan director Simon Cellan Jones has returned to feature films for the first time in two-plus decades.
Cellan Jones’ feature career began with 2000’s Some Voices, a British drama starring a still-emerging Daniel Craig, and he soon followed that up with 2002’s The One and Only, before spending two decades in television, helming episodes of How to Make It in America, Treme, Jessica Jones, Boardwalk Empire, Ballers and Shooter. ‘The Family Plan’ Ending Explained & Movie Spoilers: Why Did Dan Agree To Work With Mccaffrey Again?
It’s been ages since I caught Mark Wahlberg in an action-packed role, and let me tell you, his latest film doesn’t disappoint. The Family Plan is an absolute must-watch. The film chronicles the exploits of Dan (Mark Wahlberg), an assassin turned family man, a guy who swapped guns and bombs for domestic bliss with his beautiful wife, Jessica (Michelle Monaghan), and a duo of teenagers, Nina (Zoe Margaret Colletti) and Kyle (Van Crosby), plus a newborn, Max, in the mix. Dan had traded in his high-stakes and dangerous job for a living as a car salesman. Dan is a superstar at his dealership, making sure everyone leaves with a smile after buying a car. Since he’s no longer an assassin, Dan has adopted a new mantra: no violence. This explains why he chose not to beat up the so-called bully for sharing his image online. Dan wasn...

Plot: Dan Morgan loves his quiet suburban life as a devoted husband, father of three and successful car salesman. But that’s only half the story. Decades earlier, he was an elite government assassin tasked with eliminating the world’s deadliest threats. When enemies from his past track him down, Dan packs his unsuspecting wife, angsty teen daughter, pro-gamer teen son and adorable 10-month-old baby into their minivan and takes off on an impromptu cross-country road trip to Las Vegas. Review: Mark Wahlberg’s recent output has been mixed at best. For every solid acting project, Wahlberg has churned out awful action (Infinite), terrible comedy (Me Time), and a couple of attempts at franchises. The actor’s latest project blends humor and action in The Family Plan.

Remember Marky Mark? If you’re under a certain age, probably not, and Mark Wahlberg has some fun with that notion in the new trailer for the upcoming Apple TV+ action-comedy The Family Plan.
In the film, Wahlberg plays a nice-guy suburban husband and father whose kids have no idea that he used to be a government assassin. The situation provides ample opportunity for lots of jokes about how incredulous the children are regarding their uncool dad’s formerly cool persona.
And if that’s not enough of a wink to viewers, Wahlberg actually does some rapping in the comedy. Watch the trailer above to see how director Simon Cellan Jones and writer David Coggeshall work that into the story.
Here’s the official synopsis: Dan Morgan (Wahlberg) loves his quiet suburban life as a devoted husband, father of three and successful car salesman. But that’s only half the story.

Arnold Schwarzenegger may have set the standard of an action-tough guy making an unlikely family comedy that features him taking care of children. "You're like James Bond in a minivan?" Apple TV has revealed an official trailer for The Family Plan, a big action comedy from the streaming network heading directly to streaming in December at the end of the year. No theatrical release for this one. How's this for a story we've seen so many times before that they're rehashing once again: A former top assassin living incognito as a suburban dad must take his unsuspecting family on the run when his past catches up to him. Isn't this similar to Taken or True Lies all over again? Determined to protect his family — while treating them to the vacation of a lifetime — Dan must put his long-dormant skills into action, without revealing his true identity. Mark Wahlberg stars with Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Saïd Taghmaoui, Maggie Q, and Ciarán Hinds as the lead bad guy. Of course this looks super cheesy,...

His horrible mistake with The Wicker Man aside, Neil Labute has a history of making interesting films about uglier aspects of gender relations. He was exploring toxic masculinity long before it became fashionable, and he’s back on that topic here. Though it’s far from his most nuanced work, this home invasion horror tale has a few interesting things to say about expressions of masculinity and femininity within groups of women.
The occasion on which we meet these women is a hen party being held for Rose (Highdee Kuan) at a remote property which was owned by her parents and is now used for holiday rentals. The first people we meet are her older sisters: Tess (Maggie Q), a veteran of combat in Fallujah who has struggled to adjust to civilian life, and Beth (Kat Foster), a deeply conventional middle class woman who is continually embarrassed by this. They are joined.

The director of In the Company of Men continues his run of terrible films with this awfully acted, ungripping drama
In the most dismaying possible way, Neil Labute has done it again. The dramatist and film-maker who gave us the 90s toxic masculinity classic In the Company of Men and the interesting and undervalued Samuel L Jackson thriller Lakeview Terrace in 2008, seems now to be going through a period of churning out exploitation content like a hack-for-hire. The "Mission: Impossible" series has become easily my favorite film franchise over the course of the last decade. Not only is its consistency unmatched in today's Hollywood blockbuster landscape, but the franchise has pulled off the remarkable feat of remaining consistent; the later entries of the series are actually the best of the bunch. As the series has spanned 27 years now, people come to the "Mission: Impossible" films at different times. I'd say there are two major entry points. Obviously, you have Brian De Palma's original "Mission: Impossible," but I would also say Brad Bird's fourth installment, "Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol," would be the other film where a new generation of people hopped in.
Mine wasn't either of these films. My first experience with Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt was J.J. Abrams' "Mission: Impossible III." This was a film that came out at the height of...

A bachelorette party at a remote desert house is suddenly terrorized by home invaders.
That’s the plot of the new action thriller, Fear the Night, which stars Maggie Q as the sister of the bride and a hardened Iraq war veteran and skilled combatant. The women battle back against the invaders while searching for their father’s trove of guns.

Hai Quing and Wu Renlin star as a middle-aged couple in a rural province encouraged to marry by their families, who see them as a burden. Maggie Q burst onto the scene with 2006’s Mission Impossible III and quickly established herself as an action star. Over the years she’s dipped her toes into various franchises but has mostly found herself in smaller fare. Fear the Night (Check out Cody Hamman’s review Here) is proof of how that can be a positive as Maggie is captivating in every frame of the film as she’s allowed to do a little more than just stuntwork. So I was extremely excited to be able to discuss the film with Maggie and see just how much she collaborated with writer/director Neil Labute in creating the character of Tes. While Fear the Night is a bit on the generic side, Maggie’s performance elevates it and makes it worth a watch. Check out my wonderful conversation with the actress above.
