- Diminutive, plump-faced American character actress, on stage from the 1880's. At one time, headed her own stock company out of Philadelphia. Her husband was the stage actor Walter Gale. Florence came to films late in life to play gentle motherly or grandmotherly roles, spinster aunts or testy dowagers. Best remembered as Granny Jones from the Jones family series at 20th Century Fox (1936-40).
- Made her stage debut in San Francisco performing in the Dion Boucicault play, "Arrah-na-Pogue".
