On September 15, 1965, Irwin Allen whisked television viewers out of their living rooms on a journey to the outer reaches of space, where the Robinson family finds themselves marooned on a strange, not-entirely-hospitable planet thanks to the sabotage of their chief medical officer. For a nation dreaming of a seemingly impossible moon landing, "Lost in Space" was both wish fulfillment and cautionary tale; a part of us was enthralled by the notion of exploring the cosmos, but we were also terrified by the thought of aimlessly hurtling through a universe with no known end and no direction home.
Allen's series didn't dwell much on the more frightening aspects of the Robinsons' predicament. Unlike Gene Roddenberry's "Star Trek" (which would debut a year later), Allen employed a fairly rigid formula that found the Robinsons and the hunky Major Don West (Mark Goddard) having to outwit the generally inept scheming of Dr.

Roger Ebert dismissed Stephanie Rothman’s sweaty sexploitation flick as “The kind of movie that can almost be reviewed by watching the trailer”—Tfh Guru Heidi Honeycutt is here to accept that challenge. More entertaining than Ebert would suggest, the 1973 film stars Phyllis Davis as just one of many voluptuous inmates on a remote island where escape is impossible and no guards are necessary. 28 year old Tom Selleck makes an appearance along with Marta Kristen, teenaged Judy Robinson of Lost in Space.

With lives hanging in the balance at the end of Lost in Space season 2, here’s our explanation of what really happened in the finale.
Lost in Space is no stranger to cliffhanger endings, and once again this year, the finale of season 2 finds most of the principal characters in dramatic limbo. In addition to the children of the Resolute failing to reach Alpha Centauri and being “lost in space” once again, the Robinson parents and Don West have no idea how to catch up or where their kids actually are. Somehow we have to account for Dr. Smith’s whereabouts as well since it appears her sacrifice may not have as been as permanent as her floating, shattered helmet would indicate. There’s even quite a bit of speculation surrounding the fate of the Fortuna and the planet where the kids ended up. We can only...

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming reboot of the classic 1965 sci-fi series Lost in Space. I wasn't sure what to expect from this series, but it actually looks like it could be good! I know it's just an announcement teaser, but the production value seems solid.
The story will follow the Robinson family, who are a part of "a highly trained mission to establish a new colony in space, is unexpectedly pulled off course forcing them to crash land on a lost planet."
In the teaser, we see the Robinson family walking onto their ship, the Jupiter 2. The cast includes Toby Stephens as John Robinson, Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson, Ignacio Serricchio as Don West, Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson, Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson, Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson, and Parker Posey as Dr. Smith.

Lost in Space finally has a launch date. Netflix has announced that its reboot will lift off on Friday, April 13 — a decidedly unlucky day for the Robinson family.
The drama, which was ordered to series last June, will take its cues from the original ’60s series. Set 30 years in the future, the Robinson clan finds itself among those first selected to colonize space. They are forced to come together and forge new alliances after crash-landing on a lost planet, which is light years from their intended destination.

Last summer it was announced that Netflix ordered a remake of the classic 1965 sci-fi series Lost in Space. The new series was described as an “epic but grounded science fiction saga focusing on a young explorer family from earth lost in an alien universe and the challenges they face in staying together against seemingly insurmountable odds."
Deadline is now reporting that Parker Posey (Dazed and Confused, Best in Show, Portlandia, Mascots) has signed on to co-star in the series. She is set to play Dr. Smith in the series, who was previously played by Jonathan Harris in the original series. Then Gary Oldman played the character in the 1998 feature film. They are obviously switching things up with the character.

Netflix’s superhero dramas, because they don’t have to sweat the week-to-week ebbs and flows in ratings, are able to spend protracted amounts of time with the villain. And that can indeed be a sweet storytelling luxury, as demonstrated thus far by Marvel’s Daredevil and Jessica Jones series.

But there’s a point in Marvel’s Luke Cage (premiering Friday, Sept. 30, all 13 episodes) where two crime bosses are drilling down so deep into their dealings, the viewer almost feels remiss for not possessing a degree in Illicit Business & Finance.

O Captain! My Captain! Deadline is reporting that Netflix has identified Toby Stephens to helm the ship and lead the Robinsons as dad John Robinson in the reboot of Lost in Space. Stephens will be joined on the intergalactic tour by Max Jenkins as Will Robinson, the family’s youngest child. Taylor Russell, best known for her work on Falling Skies, has been previously announced to star as Judy Robinson, the eldest daughter. Stephens is no stranger to heading a vessel. No word yet on who they plan to cast as Dr. Smith or that Hopeless Heap of Tainted Tin robot.

It's time for a blast from the past.
The classic sci-fi TV show Lost in Space aired its first episode 50 years ago Tuesday, with the series introducing the world to the Robinson family, a group of travelers on a mission in a futuristic 1997 to found a colony in deep space.
The campy CBS series is perhaps best remembered for this catchphrase spoken by the family robot to one of the kids: "Danger, Will Robinson!" After its 1965 debut, the series went on to air for three seasons on CBS and spawned a 1998 big screen remake starring Matt LeBlanc and Heather Graham.

I should have loved Lost in Space when it debuted on CBS in the fall of 1965. At seven, I was the prime audience for this family adventure about the Robinsons and friends who are literally, hurtling through uncharted territory. Instead, I never warmed up to the show and much preferred ABC’s Batman when that arrived in January 1966. I found the science fiction lacking, the acting over-the-top, and the robot one of the few interesting aspects.
I think I would have preferred the Irwin Allen series had the villainous aspect of Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris) remained, rather than using him as a comic foil. Regardless, the series had its following which has led to various revivals as an animated series and even a Bill Mumy-scripted comic during the 1990s. A feature film adaptation seemed inevitable and that’s what we received in 1998. Now, the movie is making its...
