In the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, Sen. Joseph McCarthy carried out a witch hunt for Communists that led to the creation of the infamous Hollywood blacklist, resulting in 150 directors, actors, writers, and others in the entertainment business, being banned from making a living for over a decade.
Don't miss our screening of The Front, written by Walter Bernstein, who received an Oscar nomination for best screenplay in 1976, and directed by Martin Ritt. Both were victims of the blacklist themselves. The movie takes a comedic look at what happened during this dark period in American History. Screening to be followed by a conversation and Q&A.

New Supernatural season 9 set photo hit the net with interesting gun toting action. Recently, CW Supernatural camera man, Brian Rose, served up this new "behind the scenes" 2nd photo from the upcoming "Supernatural" season 9,and it looks pretty interesting as it features a couple of army guys with guns in tow. Brian captioned the pic with the following tweet: "Great day of shooting on SuperNatural, hot and sticky..and I'm not talk'n about our director Guy!" In related news, it's been reported that a new enemy is going to arrive on the scene, looking to take over Crowley's position as the king of Hell. Sam is going to start off the new season in bad shape as he will be very sick. Castiel won't be looking to good either as he'll be downgraded to human and powerless along with a couple of other fallen angels. Then dead Bobby is going...

Today's podcast is filled with randomness beginning with another problematic screening of a movie, marking what may be the longest streak of rude filmgoers I've experienced in a long time along with new DVDs and Blu-rays including this week's release of the first season of "Game of Thrones". We also get a lot into the state of cinema and the movie going experience and thanks to a question from Roberto925 we dig into the decline of the rom-com and why they seem to all be so bad. Also, while we forgot to cover it during the actual podcast, Brian Rose was today's prize winner for best listener question/topic and he will be receiving a copy of "The Art of John Carter a Visual Journey". Remember to get your questions and topics in as we will continue to give away prizes for the best of the lot. As always, I...

Hello all and welcome to our Tuesday edition of the RopeofSilicon Podcast and I have to say, we had a few technical issues with this one, which is the large reason for the delay in getting it posted and unfortunately you will be able to tell when you listen. I was attempting something new which would allow us to play additional sounds during the podcast and the test didn't go as planned. So, a couple times during this episode, you will hear what it sounds like when things don't go right. Sorry about that. However, we are still talking movies and the first 35 minutes wrap up the Oscars with our thoughts and several of your questions mixed in, we also explore the week's new DVD and Blu-ray releases, Laremy has a couple random topics for us, more of your listener questions, over/unders and even some politics. Also, we gave...
