"She made me feel hope... I wanted every day to feel like that." Freestyle Dm has released an official trailer for a indie road trip dramedy titled She's in Portland, from filmmaker Marc Carlini. This first premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival earlier this year, and it also played at the Sedona, Sonoma, and Phoenix Film Festivals. She's in Portland follows two men who seemingly admire each other's lives and feel trapped in their own. Wes, tied to his demanding corporate career and his responsibilities to his growing family, extends a work trip to drag his dispirited artist friend Luke up the California Coast to find Luke's "one that got away". Through their travels and conversations, the trip takes a deeper look into life choices, acceptance, and commitment. The film stars Tommy Dewey and Ricco Ross, with Minka Kelly, Vishesh Chachra, Alexis Krause, Robin Gammell, Elaine Partnow, and François Arnaud.

Special makeup supremo Robert Kurtzman directs this 1997 homage to 1980s horror, and while its gross-out effects are impressive, the plot, characters and script leave much to be desired.
Wishmaster opens in 12th century Persia, and a royal party in chaos: people are mutating, skinning themselves, turning inside out, that sort of thing. It seems the king has made a deal with a Djinn, a mythical demon who will grant three wishes. On the third wish, a portal will open and the Djinn (plural) will be unleashed and take over the world of men. Or something. Thankfully, this Djinn is banished thanks to an opal made of blood.

Wishmaster is one of those movies that is a treat for horror geeks. Featuring some of the genre’s most iconic actors part of the fun is hunting out all the Easter eggs that are so easy to spot. The question is, on revisiting the film, does The Djinn (Andrew Divoff) still have what it takes to make your dreams come true?
When a Persian statue of Ahura Mazda is broken, a red jewel is discovered within. Given to Alexandra Amberson (Tammy Lauren) to evaluate for auction, she accidentally awakens the Djinn inside. While capturing more souls inside the jewel, he chases down Alexandra with the aim...

A couple of weeks ago we brought you news that Aussie actor Roger Ward had joined the cast of the film and now we can exclusively share the next piece of casting for the eagerly awaited new movie from Black Forest Films & Lady of the Light Productions – who have partnered up to make the ambitious feature currently in pre-production.
As if mining the talents of one genre star wasn’t enough, the production team have announced that Ricco Ross – who played Frost in Aliens, as well as appearing in Death Wish 3 and Wishmaster (though I’ll always remember him as Kassim in the Highlander TV show, as well as his appearances in a bunch of 90s Dtv action movies like Project: Shadowchaser and Timelock) – has joined the cast of The Shinjuku Five; and is set to play Ronny, a sleazy Shinjuku night club owner.

Unofficial sequel Alien Identity is set after Aliens, brings back Newt and reintroduces actors Carrie Henn and Ricco Ross...
James Cameron, like many Alien fans, was incensed by Alien 3's decision to kill off Newt and Hicks, two supporting characters that made Aliens such a perfect sequel. But a new, unofficial tribute film called Alien Identity will attempt to rewrite history, saving Newt from her grisly fate at the start of Alien 3 and sending her off on a new sci-fi adventure.
The story will pretend that the events of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection were mere "cryo-sleep nightmares" and will catch up with Newt 14 years after the events of Aliens. This time, Elle Viane Sonnet will play the now 20-something Newt; Carrie Henn, who played Newt in Aliens, will return as her mother Anne in a flashback sequence.

Aliens was Carrie Henn's only movie role, dating back to 1986 when she was just a child.
Movie buffs may remember Henn as Rebecca 'Newt' Jorden, who was the only survivor of the colony on Lv-426.
Fast forward 29 years, and the actress has agreed to appear in a tribute film called Alien Identity, in which she will play Anne Jorden, young Newt's mother in a flashback. Newt will be played by Elle Viane Sonnet in the film.
"I am looking forward to working on Aliens from a different perspective," she said. "I can't wait to hear what all the fans think!"
Ricco Ross is also returning and will take up the role of Richard Frost - the brother of Private Robert Frost, who Ross portrayed in the original movie - as well as producing the project.
"When I heard of the story I thought, 'Why hasn't someone thought of this sooner?...

With filming of Blanc/Biehn Productions' remake of Hidden in the Woods set to begin July 1st in and around Houston, Texas, all the major players are lining up, and handling effects will be Vincent Guastini's V.G.P. Effects & Design Studio.
Hidden in the Woods star Michael Biehn met Guastini when they briefly worked together on Sushi Girl (in which Hitw co-star Andy Mackenzie also appeared), and Biehn was so impressed with V.G.P.'s work, the producers asked Guastini to come on board and supervise with Evelyn Belmar and Vanessa Cartier. Some of Guastini's previous credits include Silent Night, ColdWater, The Devil's Carnival, Under the Bed, and Hansel & Gretel Get Baked, just to name a few.

Just over a quarter of a century ago, one of the biggest sci-fi franchises had its second and possibly finest instalment.
Aliens, released in 1986, grossed $131million globally and was nominated for seven Oscars, including a Best Actress nomination for Sigourney Weaver.
On September 24 and 25, the UK's National Space Centre in Leicester will be celebrating the 25-year milestone and inviting fans to come along to meet cast members Ricco Ross, Daniel Kash, Colette Hiller, Cynthia Scott and Trevor Steedman. Joining this squad of Colonial Marines will be the creator of their armour, Terry English.
There are also panels, with one including special effects experts Steve Begg (Aliens SFX supervisor), Chrissie Overs (Aliens creature sculptor) and Christopher Trice (senior modeller for Alien vs Predator).
Visitors can try Aliens Encounter, an interactive walk-through experience specially created by the UK Colonial Marines, a group of enthusiasts who dress as the characters from the second film.

Remember the 80s? Back when it was okay to kill black actors first? Thanks to affirmative action and diversity in filmmaking, movie makers decided to give African American actors the “opportunity” to appear in movies – as long as they died first that is. Okay, so it wasn’t just the 80s. It was just about every year before the 80s too. This was the decade of the action-adventure blockbuster and the massive horror movie explosion. If there was an action-adventure or horror flick, “best believe” there was a black man dying. Remember Aliens? Now, I love that movie, but Frost (Ricco Ross) bit it big time. And, he did it first. What about The Monster Squad? No main characters died, right? Oh wait, they did kill off one character who had lines. And, guess what? He was Detective Sapir (Stan Shaw), the black cop – death by dynamite. Cut to: Over...

You're just asking for trouble if you call a programme The Greatest Show In The Galaxy. Those who don't get the joke will just end up sneering and pointing at the telly wondering how on Earth a horde of evil clowns and obvious stereotypes can constitute the stuff of legends.
Interestingly, The Greatest Show In The Galaxy isn't that highly regarded by the fans either. It's not languishing in the company of Time And The Rani just yet, but it doesn't figure among the fans when they're asked to choose the greatest Doctor Who story of all time. Even the DVD release hasn't surfaced yet.
For my money though, Greatest Show is not only one of the best of the McCoy years, it's also one of the best Who stories period.
The Greatest Show In The Galaxy originally closed Doctor Who's anniversary season in late 1988/early 1989, and just for one brief moment,...
