‘The Repair Shop’ Outfit Ricochet Signs Damon Pattison
The Repair Shop outfit Ricochet has signed up British indie vet Damon Pattison as its Creative Director. Reporting to MD Joanna Ball, Pattison will be responsible for developing, pitching and securing new commissions across all genres for the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed outfit. Pattison, who replaces Katy Thorogood, most recently ran Banijay-backed Beyond’s UK production arm but it was shuttered last year. He previously worked for BBC Studios and Keo Films, and set up Lucky Day Productions in 2007, which was sold to Zodiak Media Group. Ricochet makes smash BBC series The Repair Shop along with the likes of Channel 4’s Food Unwrapped and Discovery’s Woodland Workshop. “Damon’s experience, energy and creativity, is precisely what we need in a Creative Director,” said Ball.

Because "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" was set in such a politically fraught universe, it was always eager to tackle difficult stories about moral ambiguity. The title space station is located near the planet Bajor, which had been, up until recently, militarily occupied by the Cardassians, a fascistic species devoted to military strength and Bajoran extermination. "Deep Space Nine" takes place right as the Cardassian occupation had ended and witnessed Bajor entering into a long and tricky restoration phase. A lot of "Deep Space Nine" was about the rising corrupt Bajoran theocracy that was elbowing their way into the power vacuum.
Major Kira (Nana Visitor) was the Bajoran first officer on board DS9, and she spent the show learning to live with her military past. During the occupation, Kira took many, many Cardassian lives as a member of the Bajoran Resistance. As one might expect, she was deeply wounded and...

There’s a scene in the Paul Reubens-starrer Pee-wee’s Big Adventure that finds its titular character setting off on a vagabond adventure. He hops aboard a train to sit side-by-side with a grizzled, toothless man known as Hobo Jack, and they sing camp songs until Pee-Wee suddenly sours on the moment. The disgust radiates from his face and he makes a rash decision to jump off the moving train and tumble into the dirt below. The scene lasts all of 53 seconds.

As tributes to the late Paul Reubens pour in, an iconic figure from Pee-wee’s Big Adventure raises its claws to celebrate the beloved comedian. On Wednesday, the owners of Cabazon Dinosaurs in Southern California posted photos of the Tyrannosaurus Rex sculpture from Tim Burton’s 1985 cult classic with a makeover worth roaring about. In the images posted to Instagram, Pee-wee’s late Cretaceous era co-star wears the child-like character’s gray suit and red bowtie. A bright red heart is at the center of the dinosaur’s chest, while the name Pee-wee lies beneath. The tribute is on display until October 30! As far as larger-than-life honors go, this is one for the books!
In Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, Pee-wee, joined by his friend Simone (Diane Salinger), visits the towering dinosaur while on a cross-country road trip to recover his stolen bicycle. Pee-wee and Simone tap into their emotions while nestled in Mr.

I can’t believe no-one has used this title for a horror Christmas film before! But here it is with a new Dread Central Presents… release, Slay Belles; which follows three cosplaying YoutTubers, who film themselves searching abandoned places, who decide to search ‘Santa Land’ on Christmas Eve. They soon find this is a much more real land than they were expecting.
Slay Belles does take a bit of time to get going. It doesn’t take long to explain what the three group of women are and what their characters are like but we get a lot of time spent just following them around, not doing much of interest. Thankfully once they get to Santa Land, things liven up. They are attacked by Krampus and saved by Santa Claus!

A lot of water, legal and otherwise, has passed under the bridge since Paul Reubens last donned the signature crisply tailored gray suit and red bow tie of his indisputably great comic creation, Pee-wee Herman, for a feature-length comedy. His previous Pee-wee feature, Big Top Pee-wee, debuted during the summer of 1988, 28 years ago, and that picture was hardly anyone’s idea of a worthy follow-up to the delirious and hilarious Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985)-- it certainly wasn’t one I held too dear. When I saw Pwba the night it opened, I was actually admonished by fellow audience members and even the management of a Medford, Oregon movie theater for my hysterics. But though I approached the Big Top three years later with much eagerness, I left it feeling that Pee-wee had somehow ended up getting twisted into a formula that traded that gray suit in for something more akin to a straitjacket.

A quick note: my computer finally gave up the ghost last week, and I’ve spent the past five or so days scrambling to get back up and running. I’ve never gone this long without posting at HitFix, not since we began the site, and it’s a disconcerting feeling to just watch pop culture flow by without having the tools be part of the conversation. It’s amazing how ingrained it is at this point, and even when I’m working as hard as I can, I still always feel like there’s more that I’d like to write and publish than I’m able to actually accomplish. Case in point: I was hoping to publish this review last Friday night after my sons joined me and my girlfriend for an evening built around the Netflix premiere of Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday, directed by John Lee. Ajai's Stitch is another surreal entry into the horror genre. This title stars Edward Furlong and Shawna Waldron. Together, these two play a couple who head onto a healing retreat, after the death of their young daughter. Then, Marsden (Furlong) and Serafina (Waldron) find themselves trapped in a bizarre landscape by a maniacal shaman as seen in the film's first trailer. Horror fans can view the clip inside. The reel uses CGI effects to create a state of unreality, which the characters struggle against. Supernatural forces are at work in this early trailer for Stitch. Director/writer: Ajai. Sometimes, the movies slated for the 2012 year are only as good as their hype. A few of these flicks only look good as a trailer, but when audiences hit the theatre, either all the best parts have been given away or expectations fall flat. Not every title bears merit, but if any blood money is to be spilt, here’s a list of curios that should really be investigated.
Beneath the Darkness (Release Date: Jan 6)
Dir.: Martin Guigui.
Cast: Dennis Quaid, Tony Oller and Aimee Teegarden.
When a group of teens witness their best friend murdered by a so-called hero, they have to figure out how to expose him and avoid being killed too. Dennis Quaid plays Ely Vaughn, the pillar of the community, but also the antagonist in this film. Interestingly enough, Vaughn is the town’s local mortician, and there’s a secret that no body knows about him.

It’s hard to imagine Danny DeVito’s utterly revolting Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns without thinking that maybe his bizarre persona had at least something to do with how he was raised. In fact, his story was not one merely of botched upbringing, but total abandonment. And if one has to point fingers, you could look no further than Oswald’s icy-cold mother, played by character actress and acclaimed theater veteran Diane Salinger. Now, Salinger is traumatizing—and worse—a whole group of unlucky kids as the vile Miss Darrode in director Darin Scott’s festival-award-winning Dark House, now available everywhere as part of the Fangoria FrightFest’s eight-title collection on DVD from Phase 4 Films and via video-on-demand (check local listings) and iTunes.

Note: All guests/events listed are tentative. More stars are still joining the fun at this late stage, so expect lots of surprises all weekend long. And for the first time ever, there will be a second track of programming that will take place concurrently with the main track on Saturday and Sunday!

After a year of planning, the schedule for the West Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors convention is ready to be unveiled. The event will to be held this coming April 17-19 (three monstrous days and over 100 guests!) at the Los Angeles Convention Center (1201 South Figueroa).
All guests/events listed here are tentative. More stars are still joining the fun at this late stage, so expect lots of surprises all weekend long. And for the first time ever, we’ve added a second track of programming that will take place concurrently with the main track on Saturday and Sunday! Be sure to note which rooms your favorite panels will be held in. Details for the jam-packed film schedule, including several world premieres and more unannounced bonus guests, can be found here. For additional information and tickets to the Weekend of Horrors, produced by Creation and Fangoria Entertainment, go here.
