He wrote concertos and ballets, becoming principal conductor of the Scottish Ballet (1972-74) and Music Director of the London City Ballet (1982-86). His film compositions were mainly for Hammer in the 1950's. Among these, he is best remembered for The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958).
