Boris Isaakovich Zavelev (1876 - March 28, 1938). Cinematographer, figure of the Russian pre-revolutionary and Soviet cinema, teacher at (VGIK). One of the first and biggest cameramen of Russian cinema. Worked on more than 150 films.
Zavelev began his creative career as a photographer. Since 1914, he was cinematographer of the film company Joint Stock Company A. Khanzhonkov, where he shot about 70 films. He worked at film studios in pre-revolutionary Russia, in Georgia and Ukraine (Odessa and Yalta film studios).
