In Leipzig und Umgebung wird von bis Ende November die neunte Staffel der Ard-Serie „Tierärztin Dr. Mertens“ gedreht, die nach Angaben des Senderverbunds im vergangenen Jahr mit 4,31 Millionen Zuschauern (Ma: 17 Prozent) ein erfolgreiches Comeback im Ersten gefeiert hatte. Regie führen Dennis Satin und Theresa Braun nach Drehbüchern von Christiane Bubner, Petra Mirus, Andreas Heckmann, Lynda Bartnik und Klaus Wolfertstetter.
In der Hauptrolle der Cheftierärztin am Leipziger Zoo, Susanne Mertens, steht auch in der neunten Staffel der Serie, die im kommenden Jahr im Ersten ausgestrahlt werden soll, wieder Elisabeth Lanz vor der Kamera.
Sie will dort ein Nachwuchsprogramm starten, um ihre eigene Kompetenz, Erfahrung mit und Verantwortung für Tiere an junge Studierende der Veterinärmedizin weiter zu geben.
