What's the holiday season without warm family reunions?
One of TV's most famous families, the Waltons, got together on "The Today Show" on Friday, three decades after their show went off the air. As a poor family in Virginia struggling during the Great Depression, the cast warmed hearts and touched on historial issues, winning 12 Emmys and leaving a legacy of period drama that can be plainly seen on TV today.
Just as they were one big, happy family on the show, they were the same way during the reunion. Michael Learned, who played Ma, told Matt Lauer that, "We get giddy, we love each other" when asked about their reunion. The remaining cast -- David Harper (Jim Bob), Judy Norton (Mary Ellen), Kami Cotler (Elizabeth), Jon Walmsley (Jason), Mary Elizabeth McDonough (Erin), Eric Scott (Ben), and Richard Thomas (John-Boy) all agreed.
They noted that, perhaps unlike today, there were no...

In the introduction, editor Jennifer Brozek states that the purpose of this anthology is to center “around the idea of a brutally pragmatic female protagonist who would to whatever she wanted to get what she wanted.”
As such, this is an anthology designed more around character type rather than genre. The majority of stories sit comfortably in the fantastic- from urban fantasy, to sword and sorcery, to dark fantasy. The characters, though not all from a woman’s point of view, maintain the focus on the strong, female character in a rich variety of ways.
The opening story Paul D. Batteiger’s "Sacrifices to the Moon" sets the tone for the sorts of characters you can expect. Sheol, the main character is the classic hero in the vein of Beowulf-if Beowulf were a fearless, kick ass woman with a sword. Despite the gender shift of an...

New York – The most memorable comedic take on the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico hasn't come from "Saturday Night Live," "The Daily Show" or a late-night monologue.Instead, a cheaply made video by an unlikely New York improv troupe has created the only commentary that has truly resonated online: a three-minute spoof that shows Bp executives pathetically trying to clean up a coffee spill. In the last two weeks, the video has been watched by nearly 7 million people on YouTube. By the count of Viral Video Chart, it's been shared some 300,000 times on blogs, Facebook pages and Twitter feeds. The video was dreamed up by the writers for the sketch show "Beneath Gristedes," a monthly stage show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York. While meeting to work on the show, a germ of the concept came to Erik Tanouye, who worked out the script with fellow writers John Frusciante,...
