The voting on our Best Lesbian/Bi Movie Ever poll closes next Tuesday, and if you haven't yet figured out what film deserves your click of approval, then perhaps you'll take some professional opinions into account. We asked some of our favorite out directors, actors and writers to tell us which movie they'd vote for to win the title of Best Lesbian/Bi Movie Ever, and it proved to be an interesting experiment. Most of them had the same problem you do: It's hard to pick just one! You might even get a few new films to watch out of reading their responses.

Good morning!
Jodie Foster is developing a female-centric mob series for Showtime. Angie’s Body is said to be "a Sopranos-like drama that follows a shrewd and lethal woman who runs a family-based crime syndicate." It doesn't look like Jodie will star in it, but she is going to direct and executive produce. It's Showtime so I hope there are lesbians.

Remember when Wendi McLendon-Covey got drunk and kissed Ellie Kemper in Bridesmaids? Well now she's committing to being a lesbian on Modern Family. The funny lady will be playing "one-half of a lesbian couple whose son gets into a fight with Lily on the first day of kindergarten." Michaela Watkins will be her wife and Wendi tells EW:
I can’t wait. I go in and film it tomorrow and Wednesday and Thursday.

Phase 4 Films has acquired North American rights to “Sassy Pants” from writer-director Coley Sohn. The specialty distributor plans a day-and-date release in theatres and on VOD in the fall. A Santa Barbara International Film Festival world premiere, “Sassy Pants” stars Haley Joel Osment, Ashley Rickards and Anna Gunn in a coming-of-age drama about a teenager who leaves her mom to live with her dad and ends up forming a friendship with her dad’s young boyfriend. Adam Wilkins and Pavlina Hatoupis produced the project. Phase 4 execs Larry Greenberg and Katharyn Howe negotiated the deal with Traction Media on behalf of the filmmakers. "Teaming with Phase 4 was the perfect fit for us,” said Sohn. “‘Sassy Pants’ definitely vibes indie at times. It's dark, it's funny, and there's a lot of heart in there too. Festival audiences have responded really favorably to the movie, and we're very excited to have...

RobThe Palm Beach International Film Festival (Pbiff) is back for its 17th year in the south of Florida. This time, the festival will open with Jake Schreier's "Robot and Frank," a film that received some positive reviews at Sundance in January. The story follows a elderly man (Frank Langella) whose children opt to buy him an android companion in lieu of placing him in a nursing home. One week after the festival opening "Sassy Pants," the latest from Coley Sohn will close out the festivities. Anna Gunn, Diedrich Bader and Haley Joel Osment lead the cast of the new film that follows a teenage girl's escape from her family and her pursuit of an education in the world of fashion. In the intervening seven days between beginning and end, the festival will feature a full slate of films (all of which can be found at www.pbifilmfest.org) as...

Remember Haley Joel Osment, the adorable/creepy kid from The Sixth Sense and Pay It Forward? He’s making a comeback in Sassy Pants and trying his darndest to make a new impression on a public that hasn’t seen him in a feature film since 2003 when he starred Secondhand Lions.
In the new independent comedy, he plays Chip, a young, hard-partying gay man who forms a relationship with his much older boyfriend’s naïve daughter. The bold career move reminds me of Macaulay Culkin, another former child star who tried to make the difficult transition into adult stardom by reemerging in edgy projects like Party Monster and the religious comedy Saved!. While it didn’t exactly work for Culkin, hopefully Osment’s makes a much more successful re-introduction on Jan. 28, the day when Sassy Pants premieres at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

It has been 13 (gasp!) years since Haley Joel Osment saw ghosts in "The Sixth Sense," and he's proving he's all grown-up in the trailer for "Sassy Pants." Osment resurfaces in this indie as the boyfriend of Diedrich Bader, whose estranged daughter (Ashley Rickards of "Awkward" fame) seeks him out to get away from her overbearing, home-schooling mother. Osment doesn't seem to be the sassy-seated title character (sorry, fans of Sassy Gay Friend), but he does rock some very short cut-offs. And the potential for advice to the clueless heroine is huge. The film marks the debut of writer-director Coley Sohn and will have its world premiere Jan. 28 at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Osment, whose last major film was 2003's "Secondhand Lions," will also star in the upcoming thriller "Wake the Dead," based on the Steve Niles graphic novel of the same name. He'll play a modern-day Dr. Frankenstein,...

It has been some time since we've seen Haley Joel Osment. The Sixth Sense star practically went into hiding after 2003's Secondhand Lions, saving us all from watching his awkward stage unfold across the big screen like so many child stars before him. (Thank you, Haley.) Instead, Osment smartly sidestepped the spotlight, went to college, and took to voice acting, making only the occasional film appearance in a couple of movies you've likely never heard of. But now he's back and all grown up in the trailer for writer-director Coley Sohn's debut feature Sassy Pants. Based on the Sohn's award-winning comedic short "Boutenniere," Sassy Pants centers on the coming-of-age tale of Bethany Pruitt (Awkward star Ashley Rickards), a home-schooled teen who is desperately seeking freedom from the overbearing parenting of her sweet but smothering single-mom (Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn). So, she runs off to live with her absentee...

Though he hasn't done much in the vein of acting in nearly a decade (his last high profile film was Secondhand Lions in 2003), it looks like Haley Joel Osment is on the verge of a grown-up comeback. We've previously heard that Osment was looking to return to the big screen a couple other projects, but it looks like we might see his return in a film called Sassy Pants. In the film about a teenage girl (Ashley Rickards) with a gay dad (Diedrich Bader) and overbearing mom, who is trying to get a job and go away to college, Osment plays the father's young boyfriend Chip Hardy sporting cut-off jean shorts. Watch below! Sassy Pants looks a bit like Whip It if Ellen Page’s character found Joker makeup instead of Roller Derby. The coming-of-age film follows Bethany Pruitt (Awkward favorite Ashley Rickards), fresh out of high school and trying to spread her wings despite her suffocating mother (and by “suffocating,” I mean “wants Bethany to go to college nearby” — for shame!), her emotionally wrought, alcoholic, gay dad, Dale, and Dad’s hot young piece of cutoffs-wearing, line-dancing tail, played by none other than Haley Joel Osment (who is rockin’ the Pete-Wentz-circa-2007 bangs like the rent’s due tomorrow). Did I mention that...

Here’s a quirky little trailer for a movie called Sassy Pants, interested yet? What if I told you Haley Joel Osment, everyone’s favorite child actor from the late 90′s early 2000′s was involved? Now you’re more than interested, admit it. The film is the directorial debut feature from Coley Sohn, I can’t do it’s synopsis justice so here it is officially:
Bethany Pruitt (Ashley Rickards) is valedictorian of her class – her one student homeschool class. Stuck with younger brother Shayne (Martin Spanjers) under their perky but oppressive mother June’s (Anna Gunn) thumb, Bethany’s only escape is a teen fashion ‘zine courtesy of her absentee gay dad.
Read the rest and watch the trailer below:
Life at dad Dale’s (Diedrich Bader) mobile home is no picnic either. Despite the close bond she forms with his fun, younger boyfriend, Chip (Haley Joel Osment) Dad’s self-loathing,...

The trailer for newcomer Coley Sohn's "Sassy Pants," starring "Awkward" actress Anna Rickards as a young woman on the job hunt rather than the college hunt, has hit the web.
The coming of age tale features the trials and tribulations that come with trying to make it in the real world while dealing with a difficult world at home. Rickard has to deal with a helicopter mother played by "Breaking Bad's" Anna Gunn who tries to foil her plans; and a gay father ("Napoleon Dynamite's" Deidrich Bader) dating a much younger man, played by "The Sixth Sense" star Haley Joel Osment.
Osment has been out of the spotlight for years, but that doesn't mean he wasn't busy. "Going back to elementary school and high school, I put so much work into having a regular education that it was a huge priority for me in finishing that," he tells the Huffington Post.

#53. Sassy Pants - Coley Sohn We could have a festival loaded with these kinds of examples...here is one more case of a Sundance accepted short Boutonniere (2009) that got turned into a feature length film. Entitled Sassy Pants, with a backdrop of the prom and the pain associated with it, if programmed Coley Sohn's coming-of-ager comedy will most certainly grab a Premieres category slot and be a prime candidate for Queer Lounge Award and in the same token would be a platform for actress Ashley Rickards to shine. Gist: The short's synopsis is...a simple teenage girl attempts to survive her overbearing mother's exuberant plans for a prom she’d rather not attend. Producers: Pavlina Hatoupis and Adam Wilkins(Ioncinema.com Preview Page // IMDb Link)...
