People seem to forget that back in 2008, the Casey Anthony case all began with her own mother calling for Casey to be arrested. That’s right folks. Cindy Anthony made a 911 call to the police claiming her car was stolen and that it was none other than daughter Casey who she claimed stole the car. Once police arrived, they learned something far more shocking – that 2-year-old Caylee Anthony had been missing for a month. This is the beginning of the Casey Anthony story. It’s a story that’s considered one of the most talked about murder stories and jury

While the newsroom staffers attempted to stop a ratings plummet, "The Newsroom" halted its season-long plummet with a smart, strong episode. And welcome back, Mackenzie. We like you so much better with a brain. What happened: Will courts New York Magazine writer Bryan Brenner (Paul Schneider) to write a feature story on the changes "News Night" has undergone since the "2.0" makeover, as a method of combating the negative press from tabloid Tmi. As it turns out, Bryan is Mackenzie's ex-boyfriend and the man with whom she cheated on Will. Reese informs Will, Mackenzie and Charlie that "News Night" not covering the Casey Anthony story resulted in a ratings plummet. Will is anxious to do whatever it takes to save face -- the show is hoping to air a mock debate, and needs good ratings to assure the debate's fruition. Mack, however, is staunchly against the team morbidly focusing on a horrific case,...

Dr. Phil launched its tenth season today with the much-promoted, exclusive interview with George and Cindy Anthony, their first public appearance since their daughter Casey was acquitted of first-degree murder.
Dr. Phil began the episode by touting the Casey Anthony story as “one of the biggest dramas to ever capture the nation’s attention” and spoke of how coverage of the case left him with more questions that answers. He is certainly not alone. Casey Anthony was found guilty of lying to police but beyond that, little is known of what actually happened.

The cable news ratings game is best adjudged by trends: who is moving up or down from month to month or year to year. And while last month the big story was Hln's enormous ratings (due almost exclusively due the Casey Anthony story) there is another item worth noting, eventhough the story might be somewhat unremarkable: Fox News was the #1 cable news network for the 115th consecutive month going back to January of 2002, and the network was the fourth most-watched cable network in all Primetime.

Two classic Lifetime movies aired last night featuring the harrowing tale of Betty Broderick -- the wealthy American women convicted of murdering her ex-husband and his second wife. The ripped-from-the-headlines double feature made us wonder when the cable network will pick up “The Casey Anthony Story."
No official plans for a film -- on the big screen, Lifetime or otherwise -- have been announced, but making the story of Anthony, the loss of her young child and that emotional trial into a heart-wrenching movie is almost inevitable at this point.
After the shocking verdict was announced earlier this month, rumors began flying that ‘Twilight’ star Kristen Stewart was being considered to play Anthony, no doubt thanks to her striking resemblance of the Florida woman.
However Stewart made it clear she wants nothing to do with the Anthony case or any movies in the works.
No matter who fills the role...

NBC News correspondent Kerry Sanders, who's covered the Casey Anthony story for three years, was outside the Orange County Jail this morning, telling viewers of Today that this could be the last full day and night in custody for Anthony, who faces sentencing tomorrow on lesser charges of lying to prosecutors and could--conceivably--be released for time served. "Had Casey been convicted of murder, she could have faced the death penalty," said Sanders. "The judge could sentence Casey to four years, but with the time she's already served, she could walk free."...
