Every day when we log on to Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter), Reddit, or any other social media platform, we see hundreds of posts obsessing over a celebrity. While it's fine to praise an artist and share their work online, the moment the online fangirling ends and the offline stalking begins, it gets serious.

Ncuti Gatwa made history when he appeared as the fifteenth Doctor in BBC’s Doctor Who. The Barbie star became the first Black and queer actor to portray the role, making his debut in the third 60th-anniversary special episode ‘The Giggle’. He took over from David Tennant, who returned to the role for the anniversary specials.
The fourteenth series of the show will begin airing in May of this year. The show also received a streaming partner in Disney Plus, which reportedly gave the show a bigger budget. While no particular numbers have been revealed, Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies mentioned that they could make the best episode even without the money.

Scottish star David Tennant has an impressive repertoire of acting projects that puts him among some of the most versatile actors of his generation. Prominently known for his character in the popular BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, Tennant’s manic turn as Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was also a massive fan favorite.

The Hamlet actor also starred in the supernatural comedy series Good Omens along with co-star Michael Sheen. Ahead of taking on host duties for the BAFTAs 2024, Tennant sat down to answer some fan questions, which included his opinion on a passionate kiss between him and Sheen in the show. Donna Noble is angry. She agreed to come with the Doctor through space and time with the belief that he could do heroic works. But when she accompanies him to Pompeii in 79 Ad, Donna learns that the Doctor can’t change history at will, which prevents him from rescuing a family from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
“Some things are fixed, some things are in flux,” the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) tells Donna (Catherine Tate). “Pompeii is fixed.”
While that difficult conversation from the Doctor Who season four episode “The Fires of Pompeii” haunted Donna’s initial partnership with the Doctor, the duo’s reunion allowed them to tinker with a historical moment that apparently wasn’t fixed. At the start of “Wild Blue Yonder,” the Doctor and Donna briefly land in 1666 England and meet Sir Isaac Newton. We’ve had a marvellous run of Taskmaster series lately, so when a new line-up announcement is on the horizon, it’s easy to wonder whether the winning streak will continue or if we’re due a dud.
Never fear – Alex Horne and co. have delivered once again, although the series 17 Taskmaster line-up might not be quite what you’re expecting. Instead of the now-traditional Taskmaster family line-up, this time they’ve gone for a veteran from outside the world of stand-up comedy, plus four rising stars with slightly less mainstream recognition than normal. As ever with this show though, anybody you’re not familiar with at the start, you’ll almost certainly love by the end of the series.
The Taskmaster series 17 line-up is: Steve Pemberton, Sophie Willan, Nick Mohammed, John Robins and Joanne McNally! And here they are appearing in the very first trailer for the new run:...

The BBC has brushed off complaints from Doctor Who viewers who argued that the inclusion of Yasmin Finney‘s transgender character Rose was “inappropriate.”
The British broadcaster received 144 messages from disgruntled viewers about Heartstopper star Finney’s appearance in The Star Beast special, with some arguing it was “anti-male.”
In an update on its complaints responses website, the BBC said: “As regular viewers of Doctor Who will be aware, the show has and will always continue to proudly celebrate diversity and reflect the world we live in. We are always mindful of the content within our episodes.”
The Star Beast special was watched by more than 7.6M people last month meaning the complainants made up a tiny proportion of the audience. It is not unusual for the BBC to receive complaints over transgender storylines or reporting.

As a former teaching colleague was very fond of saying: “You can’t make a pie out of sh*t”.
He was wrong and right. You can technically make all manner of things – up to and including pies – out of sh*t, but in the end, put any amount of sh*t in a pie and what you’ll end up with is a sh*t pie. Ingredients matter, is the point. Just ask Gordon Ramsay, or Minny Jackson from The Help.
The ingredients in the below movies and TV shows are the opposite of shit. They’re grade A, top drawer, high quality constituent parts… I really wish I hadn’t started this ‘shit’ thing. Does anybody else feel a bit queasy. And off pies?
Any road, we salute the actors below for being particularly excellent at their jobs this year, in some similarly excellent films and shows. Top work,...

For the better part of 60 years, “Doctor Who” has been typified by an ongoing cycle of death and rebirth. The death of one Doctor brought the birth of the next. Viewers of the long-running BBC series instinctively knew from the moment a new actor was announced as the titular Time Lord that an emotional farewell awaited in the not-too-distant future.
That all changed this year, fundamentally — perhaps irrevocably — altering the franchise with it.
Regeneration — one of the most brilliant storytelling devices in TV history — was a gambit born of necessity by the “Doctor Who” brain trust in 1966 when star William Hartnell, suffering from ill health and memory problems, decided to bow out of the successful series after three years. Of course, that the series was successful meant creatives and executives alike wanted to keep the train running. And if audiences were Ok with an impossibly long-lived time-traveling alien, surely the...

Sixty years is but the blink of an eye for a time-traveler like The Doctor. But for a television series, a Diamond Anniversary is an extremely rare and impressive occurrence.
BBC’s Doctor Who recently celebrated such a milestone with three one-hour specials which, for the first time, streamed globally on Disney+.
Russell T Davies, fresh from his success on ’80s AIDS miniseries It’s a Sin, returned to the show he brought back so successfully to the BBC in 2005. Bolstering his team are returning producers Julie Gardner and Phil Collinson, as well as Jane Tranter, the woman who was instrumental in bringing back Doctor Who in 2005. Bad Wolf, the company founded by Tranter and Gardner in 2015, currently produces the show with BBC Studios.
Another big returning name return was David Tennant, who played the 10th Doctor from 2005 to 2010 and who also returned for the show’s 50th anniversary in 2013. Beloved by fans and audiences alike,...

Catherine Tate’s latest sitcom Queen Of Oz has been given the chop after a single series, the BBC have confirmed.
Catherine Tate is currently riding high on the huge success of the long awaited Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials. Written by returning showrunner Russell T Davies, the episodes saw Tate reprise her role as Donna Noble opposite David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor.
However Queen Of Oz, Tate’s latest foray into sitcom, has been cancelled after a single series, the BBC has confirmed.
The six-part series followed Tate as Princess Georgiana, the “spare to the British throne”. With her party girl lifestyle and constant public scandals threatening the monarchy’s future, she is moved to Australia to become their Queen, along with her new staff – director of communications Zoe (Jenna Owen), private secretary Bernard (Robert Coleby), head of security Marc (Rob Collins), personal assistant Matthew (William McKenna), lady...

The legal drama “Suits” may have been the show of the summer, but another beloved USA property is on top now.
Tony Shalhoub reprises his Emmy-winning role of Adrian Monk in “Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie,” a Peacock original that sees the ol’ detective with obsessive compulsive disorder return for one last case (or is it?) in the age of Covid. In the 90-minute film, which is now streaming, Monk is preparing for his stepdaughter Molly’s (Caitlin McGee) upcoming nuptials when he finds himself pulled into an investigation involving a charismatic billionaire with his eyes set on space (James Purefoy).
During its original run from 2002 to 2009, “Monk” was a critically acclaimed comedy and an Emmy mainstay, taking home eight awards in all. Much of the original series cast has returned for the sequel film, including Ted Levine, Traylor Howard, Jason Gray-Stanford, Melora Hardin and Hector Elizondo. A...

More behind the scenes secrets from Doctor Who’s latest episode, Wild Blue Yonder, have now been revealed…
Last weekend’s episode of Doctor Who, Wild Blue Yonder appears to have (rightly) gone down rather well. Our own spoiler-y review of it is here, with Russell T Davies penning a tale that called for plenty from his two lead actors, David Tennant and Catherine Tate.
The man who directed the episode was Tom Kingsley meanwhile, and over on his Twitter/X/Whatever We Call It These Days feed, he’s been detailing some behind the scenes information from the shoot.
It’s a fascinating thread of details he’s dropped too, not least the revelation that in Wild Blue Yonder, you actually see the Doctor played by six different people throughout the episode.

If you’d polled a million Doctor Who fans last week asking them to predict what would happen in “Wild Blue Yonder” – the second of three 60th anniversary specials – not a single one of them would have come close to guessing what that wild ride of an episode entailed. This leaves us wondering: what on earth have they got lined up for “The Giggle”, the third and final episode?
Some things we’ve known for a while: David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be back as the fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble, Neil Patrick Harris will play The Toymaker – a Who villain that we haven’t seen on TV since the sixties – and Jemma Redgrave is back as Unit boss Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.
Pretty much everything else we know has been gleaned from cryptic glimpses in teasers and trailers – so let’s put all the evidence we have so far together:...

Warning: contains spoilers for Doctor Who: “Wild Blue Yonder”
In the December issue of Doctor Who Magazine, a preview for the second 60th anniversary special “Wild Blue Yonder” advertised the following episode cast:
“David Tennant, Catherine Tate, [Redacted], [Redacted], [Redacted]”
Fans were understandably quick to fill in those blanks with potential guest stars fitting for a diamond anniversary. Nobody guessed the actual names redacted: Bernard Cribbins, plus Daniel Tuite and Helen Cripps.
Who? Exactly.
Tuite and Cripps play David Tennant and Catherine Tate’s body doubles in “Wild Blue Yonder”, an episode that saw the Doctor and Donna pitted against monstrous copies of themselves. Neither household names nor Doctor Who regulars, had the two actors been revealed prior to broadcast, it would likely not have explained or spoiled a thing…

“It’s time.” But as much as we can’t wait to see Ncuti Gatwa‘s Fifteenth Doctor in action — the first full adventure is this year’s Christmas special — it’s going to be hard to watch another regeneration of a Doctor played by David Tennant. After quite the experience — including facing almost exact copies of themselves — The Doctor and Donna (Catherine Tate) returned to where they’d left her family only to find her grandfather, Wilf (Bernard Cribbins), waiting. (They’d actually been planning to go see him when she spilled coffee into the Tardis console and things went sideways.) “Hello, me old soldier!” In memory of Bernard Cribbins #DoctorWho pic.twitter.com...

Bernard Cribbins sadly left us last year – but Doctor Who has found space to respectful acknowledge him.
If you’ve not seen The Star Beast and Wild Blue Yonder, there are spoilers here. But very light ones.
This article was originally published at the end of November, and was updated once we’d seen Wild Blue Yonder.
There are inevitable ties to Russell T Davies’ fourth series of Doctor Who in his return to the show, The Star Beast. The new episode – and the new era of Doctor Who – debuted on BBC One at the end of November, and you can read our review of it here.
The fourth series of revived Doctor Who saw David Tennant’s Doctor partnered with Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble, just as we saw again this weekend. But for many, the standout character of that series was Bernard Cribbins’ Wilf. A wonderful character, played by a wonderful actor,...

This post contains spoilers for Doctor Who: The Star Beast
The first Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special may have brought back David Tennant and Catherine Tate, and even adapted a comic book story from 1980. But make no mistake, the special takes the Doctor into new territory, at least in the United States.
The first special “The Star Beast” dropped on its usual home at the BBC in the UK, but it debuted on Disney+ for the rest of the world. The same will be true of the next two specials, “Wild Blue Yonder” and “The Giggle,” preparing the way for the show’s fourteenth season since the 2004 reboot, which will air eight episodes across 2024.
The Story Thus Far
As the Doctor himself puts it in the most recent Children in Need special, he was this brilliant woman and now he’s back wearing an old face. In more complicated terms,...

Warning: contains Spoilers for Doctor Who episode “The Star Beast” and several modern Doctor Who episodes
The internet is still whirring after that explosive first episode of the three Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, with the return of David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and his beloved ex-companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate).
There was certainly a lot to take in: “The Star Beast” saw an alien spaceship crash-landing in London, the arrival of the adorably fluffy Meep and sinister, bug-eyed Wrarth Warriors, the return of Unit (the international intelligence taskforce that investigates alien activity), and the very real threat that if Donna remembers who The Doctor is, she’ll die.
We also met Donna’s family, including her husband Shaun and daughter Rose, whom we eventually learn has genetically absorbed some of the metacrisis that threatened Donna’s life, subconsciously giving her some of The Doctor and Donna’s memories.

In all my years covering television, I have only ever once cursed out an interview subject, even in jest.
This was back in 2009, when I was speaking with Russell T. Davies about the end of his tenure as showrunner of Doctor Who, and the launch of spinoff miniseries Torchwood: Children of Earth. Specifically, I had a bone to pick regarding the departure of Donna Noble, the blunt, hilarious, endearing companion to David Tenant’s Tenth Doctor, played by Catherine Tate. The gifts don’t stop in December at Disney+! In addition to holiday festivities all month long like the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade and the CMA Country Christmas Special, the House of Mouse streamer will soon become the home for Whovians and Demigods.
Disney+ will deck the halls with a glut of Gallifreyan adventures and the premiere of the long-awaited “Doctor Who” anniversary specials. The first of the three debuted on BBC One and on the Disney streamer on Nov. 25, but the other two David Tennant and Catherine Tate-led serials will arrive on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. Later in the month, ring in Christmas with the franchise’s holiday special with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson getting their full-episode debuts.
And the wait is over for “Percy Jackson” fans, who will see the beloved Rick Riordan book series get a (hopefully) respectful adaptation with the premiere of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Warning: contains spoilers for Doctor Who: The Star Beast.
The first of the new David Tennant and Catherine Tate-fronted episodes is called simply “The Star Beast”, a title it shares with the 1980 Doctor Who Weekly comic strip (published in the US by Marvel Comics as “Stan Lee Presents: Doctor Who”) “Doctor Who and the Star Beast”, featuring the Fourth Doctor as played by Tom Baker.
The TV special stars Miriam Margolyes as the voice of the fluffy alien “Beep the Meep”, who first appeared in that comic. And if we put the poster for the special alongside the cover of that comic (see above) there are… similarities.
It wouldn’t be the first time the Doctor Who TV series has adapted stories from other mediums. The most famous example would be when Paul Cornell was invited to adapt the Seventh Doctor novel he had written for Virgin New Adventures,...

The 60th anniversary specials of Doctor Who are coming to feature-packed DVD and Blu-ray releases in December.
At the time of writing, the first of three Doctor Who 60th anniversary special episodes has been broadcast. They’ve seen David Tennant return to the Tardis, accompanied by Catherine Tate as Donna Noble.
The three episodes – The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle – have also marked Russell T Davies’ return to the showrunner job on Doctor Who. He’s been busy scribbling the new episodes, that have been going out back in a Saturday night slot.
Furthermore, just as when Davies brought Doctor Who back in 2005, we’re getting some feature-packed discs to go with the show. The BBC will be releasing the 60th anniversary specials on DVD and Blu-ray, just in time for Christmas.
The release date, lest you think this is one of the endless modern news stories...

Going into the first of three 60th anniversary specials for "Doctor Who," fans had a lot of questions. Why was the Doctor (David Tennant) back in the body of the 10th Doctor? What has Donna (Catherine Tate) been up to over the past thirteen years? And most importantly, how can Donna return as a companion if her memory's been wiped? In season 4's "Journey's End" and in Tennant's final two-parter, "The End of Time," it was made very clear that Donna cannot be allowed to remember anything about the Doctor, or she'll die. Yet now she's back in the Tardis not just for "The Star Beast," but for two more specials.
Well, "The Star Beast" didn't solve the mystery of the Doctor's returning face, but it did answer all our questions about Donna. Where's she been all these years? She's stayed in London, still married to Shaun Temple (Karl Collins...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the first Doctor Who 60th anniversary special “The Star Beast.”] “Why did this face come back?” Though that question is asked throughout “The Star Beast,” it goes unanswered thus far. But Doctor Who’s very fun, delightful, nostalgia-filled, cinematic, and, at times, funny first 60th anniversary special, featuring brilliant performances by David Tennant and Catherine Tate as The Doctor and Donna Noble again does solve one major problem. At times, it feels like Tennant and Tate never left and The Doctor and Donna never parted — especially during a moment involving his sonic screwdriver (used in impressive ways). As Donna says near the end, “it’s like the old days.” But there’s the matter of aliens running around and, as The Doctor and Donna recap somewhat awkwardly for viewers to open the episode, the fact that she saved the universe by taking the power of a ...

One might think TV would take a break during the week of Thanksgiving, but they’d be wrong. The fifth installment of Noah Hawley’s “Fargo” premiered this week on FX. A return to form for the Emmy-winning anthology series, the darkly funny new season is set in 2019 and stars Emmy nominee Juno Temple as Dot Lyon, a Midwestern housewife and mother whose past begins to catch up with her after she’s arrested at a school board meeting for accidentally tasering a cop.
As has become the norm, this season of “Fargo” is ridiculously stacked with talent. Emmy winner Jon Hamm, who is coming off the third season of “The Morning Show,” portrays Roy Tillman, a larger-than-life North Dakota sheriff looking for Dot with the help of his son Gator, portrayed by “Stranger Things” fan favorite Joe Keery. Meanwhile, Jennifer Jason Leigh more than holds her own as Dot’s wealthy and disapproving mother-in-law,...

Cbbc show Totally Doctor Who has just been added to the Whoniverse on iPlayer and is now available to watch again.
We truly were spoiled with behind the scenes goodies when Russell T Davies relaunched Doctor Who all the way back in 2005. The main attraction was Doctor Who Confidential (which screened on BBC Three after each episode of the show), but younger viewers were treated to Totally Doctor Who as well. Their very own version of the magazine show.
Broadcast alongside series two and three of Doctor Who the Cbbc show was presented by Barney Harwood and Liz Barker in the first series, and the latter was replaced by Kirsten O’Brien in the second series.
It was similar in theme and approach to Blue Peter, on which Barker was also a presenter. It featured regular segments like the Companion Academy, where children competed to win a day on the set of Doctor Who.

Ending the year in signs is the hilarious, adventurous, sharp-tongued era of Sagittarius.

Sagittarius is the jack-of-trades sign; the sign that takes up space in every all industries — whether they be an actor, comedian or a bus driver — their versatility allows them to do it all. And that flexibility helps fuel their “I’ll try anything once” mindset. To them, what is life if you’re not living it to your fullest? The only thing you have to beware of is their slick mouth. Remember back in 2008, when Donna Noble broke our hearts? Catherine Tate’s gloriously mouthy companion had gone from a suburban office temp to the most important woman in creation, and then had her memory wiped. She saved the universe, but she lost everything. “There’s never been a human-Time Lord metacrisis before,” David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor told her. “You know why.”
“Because there can’t be”.
And, oh, how we cried.
That was 101 episodes, (give or take) fifteen years (our time), a couple of thousand years (the Doctor’s time), three regenerations (more or less) and two show-runners ago. The second great era of Doctor Who ended in October of last year when Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor regenerated into … What? What? What?! … David Tennant’s Fourteenth Doctor. The new Doctor once again wore an old Doctor’s face, and behind the scenes another returning figure was writing his dialogue.

Nicola Coughlan will be appearing in a Doctor Who Christmas special. Just not this year.
Showrunner Russell T Davies confirmed at a press conference that Bridgerton and Derry Girls star Coughlan will appear in a future Christmas special. He revealed that’s the reason for the recent photos of Coughlan filming around South Wales that were circulating.
“[We’ve got] Nicola Coughlan at Christmas. Not this Christmas, next Christmas. We’re shooting Christmas 2024 now,” he explained.
David Tennant and Catherine Tate return in a few weeks for a trio of 60th anniversary specials. After that, Ncuti Gatwa and Coronation Street’s Millie Gibson make their debut as the 15th Doctor and new companion Ruby Sunday.
Gatwa’s first full series was filmed this summer and will air next year.
Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere.

Warning: contains minor Spoilers for Doctor Who episode “Wild Blue Yonder”
We’ve been speculating about the 60th anniversary Doctor Who specials for well over a year now, with one detail after another being drip-fed to fans via announcements and trailers, and episode one “The Star Beast” having recently had a starry premiere screening, but with mere weeks to go we still know next to nothing about the second episode, “Wild Blue Yonder”.
This was a deliberate choice by showrunner Russell T Davies. Speaking in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, Davies revealed his dream that the second special would air with no previews whatsoever:
“This is the secret one,” Davies explained, “I wanted to take one of the Specials and say ‘Let’s protect this one. Let’s try to reveal nothing about it’”.
While the magazine’s preview feature for “Wild Blue Yonder” keeps the cards firmly close to its chest,...
