On a recent visit to Zagreb in Croatia, I was stopped in my tracks by this poster, above, in the Museum of Contemporary Art. It is a design for the First Science Fiction Fair held in 1972 in the museum’s previous incarnation as the Gallery of Contemporary Art. The poster’s artist, Mihajlo Arsovski, had been designing exhibition posters for the Gallery for more than a decade and this poster was awarded the Gold Medal at the International Poster Exhibition in Varese, Italy, in 1973. After finding it, I posted about the design on my Movie Poster of the Day Instagram and asked whether anyone followed my account in Croatia, which led to my meeting up with two Croatian artists/designers Neven Udovičić and Sara Kern Gacesa. Neven told me more about Arsovski, who had died at the age of 83 in 2020, and also about Boris Bućan, whose famous poster for Stravinsky...

The kids from It have some pretty genius ideas about which actors should be cast in the sequel.
Et caught up with some of the stars of director Andy Muschietti’s remake of the 1990 miniseries at a press junket for the movie's home entertainment release in Los Angeles on Thursday, where they revealed which celebrities they'd love to see portray their adult counterparts in It: Chapter 2.
Jeremy Ray Taylor, who plays the beloved Ben, says it would be awesome to see a certain Avengers star in the sequel, which will focus on the Losers' Club reuniting 30 years after their first encounter with Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård). Needless to say, we think it's perfect!
"Probably Chris Pratt," he exclaimed.

Seeing as his costar, Wyatt Oleff, worked alongside Pratt as young Peter Quill in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, this dream casting isn't too far fetched.

Skarsgård spoke with EW and had this to say about playing the character.
“It’s such an extreme character. Inhumane. It’s beyond even a sociopath, because he’s not even human. He’s not even a clown. I’m playing just one of the beings It creates.”

The film also stars Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy and Ray Taylor.

It seems they've found the new Pennywise the Clown.
25-year-old Swedish actor Bill Skarsgard, son of Stellan and brother of Alexander, has scored the role of the iconic supernatural clown Pennywise in the new two-part film adaptation of Stephen King's "It" for New Line Cinema.
The first part focuses on the group of teens called the Losers Club who defeat a powerful entity that is killing kids around their town, the second is set around the repercussions on these characters as adults thirty years later when the creature has seemingly returned.
Skarsgard, best known for his leading role on Netflix's "Hemlock Grove," takes over the role from Will Poulter ("We're the Millers") who was originally cast in the role back when Cary Fukunaga was attached to direct. "Mama" filmmaker Andy Muschietti is now helming the film.
The project has also cast the child versions of the characters. They include...

Here's a little known fact for you guys... After the success of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, director Steven Spielberg had something a lot darker in mind for us. Read on for details and a look at what E.T. was originally supposed to be.
Spielberg was fascinated by an event which transpired back in August 21, 1955, which became known as The Kelly, Kentucky Alien Invasion.
On that evening Billy Ray Taylor and his wife were visiting the Sutton farm. Billy exited the house to go fetch water from the Sutton family well and while doing so saw what he described as an "immense, shining object" landing about a quarter of a mile from the house. It wasn't long before he and the Sutton family were besieged by extraterrestrial invaders who were trying to break into the Sutton home. Click the link above for more on that story.

To me, living in 2010 seems like the future (well a bit anyway), and some of the things people dreamt of in years gone by have indeed come to pass. We have iPods which contain all our music, videos and data like the PADDs in Star Trek, have unlocked parts of the human genome, cloned livestock and created primitive artificial life. And while we don't have jet-packs, teleporters or the ability to travel to Mars, current technology hasn't don't too badly on the whole.
We love our technology, all sleek, thin and mobile, full of wafer-thin elements that can pass data at massive rates, wrapped up in shiny and lovingly-designed bits of kit. The ‘aesthetic of the...
