Mellissa Tong started her producing and broadcasting career with Radio Television Hong Kong before moving to the US in 1991. Upon graduation at The California Institute of the Arts, she worked as a news anchor/producer/reporter for The International Channel, one of the first satellite TV stations in the US. At that job, besides anchoring the news, she had a 5-minute daily human interest segment where she interviewed thousands of people including political figures and Hollywood celebrities, and covered over 1200 stories ranging from health, beauty, technology, science, politics, to movie premieres. While working full-time at the station, she started freelancing as a producer on various film projects in 1996. She left International Channel for CBS in 1998 to work on Martial Law, starring Arsenial Hall and Sammo Hung. In 2000, she started her own production company, DuckPunk Productions. Since then, she has continued to tell stories in different long and short forms, including short and full-length documentaries, feature films, PSAs, TV commercials, digital content, Branded Entertainment and corporate videos. Her work has garnered rave reviews and won many awards, such as Clio, Addy, Telly, and many others from film festivals across the country.
