A recent report from Kotaku suggests that indie game developers are becoming increasingly frustrated with PlayStation’s policies and what they suggest seems to be a general lack of support for the indie game industry.
This report comes on the heels of indie game publisher Iain Garner’s recent Twitter tirade in which he spoke about working with PlayStation (identified in his tweets as “Platform X” or “the operator of a very successful console and does not have Games Pass”) and the ways he claims they ignore most indie games and indie developers.
Platform X gives developers no ability to manage their games. In order to get promotion you must jump through hoops, beg and plead for any level of promotion. And a blog is not as good as they think it is.
If Platform X doesn't like your game, no fanfare no feature no love.

Red Thread Games have announced that the next installment of their episodic adventure series, Dreamfall Chapters, is coming out this week. Book 4: Revelations will arrive this Thursday, December 3rd, available on Steam, Gog and the Humble Store. The announcement came with a new trailer, which can be viewed above.
Dreamfall Chapters is a sequel to Funcom’s classic adventure games The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. In a testament to how many fans still love the atmospheric, story-driven original, Dreamfall Chapters Kickstarter attracted almost 22,000 backers, who pledged a total of over $1,500,000. Chapters continues The Longest Journey‘s style by combining an edgy cyberpunk world with a parallel, magical fantasy realm.
Revelations is coming out slightly later than its planned October 21st release date, which is mostly due to the company focusing a large amount of effort on last week’s extensive update where all existing episodes were...

The last time we checked in on "Dreamfall Chapters," the successfully Kickstarted follow-up to Ragnar Tørnquist's cult-hit "Longest Journey" series, it had raised a $1 million in crowd-funding and showing off in-game footage. Since then, Red Thread Games' Kickstarter has gone on to raise $1.5 million and hit most of their stretch goals.
According to an interview with Eurogamer, the team is now in talks with Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony to bring the game to next-generation consoles.
"We are preparing to go to consoles," said Tørnquist, Red Thread founder and "Dreamfall Chapters" director, during Rezzed 2013. "Without officially announcing anything. We are keen on getting this game to as many people as possible. The game works extremely well in a TV-couch scenario -- it's a perfect game for that."
"We're building a game that has cross-platform technology anyway, so I think the chances are extremely good that we'll land...

This week, a new Mmo is unleashed upon the world while Square Enix reminds you what you loved about all of those Final Fantasy games: the music! Plus, a new quirky platformer emerges with Mossmouth's Spelunky. Does it have what it takes to be the next Super Meat Boy?
Highlights from this week's new releases after the jump.
The big pitch for Funcom's urban fantasy Mmo The Secret World is that you're not constrained by levels of classes, and character progression is entirely up to the player who can choose their powers, weapons, and clothing. That's an interesting, albeit possibly counter-intuitive hook for an Mmo: "it's not all about compulsive progression," the developer seems to be saying.
If it's not about that, then what is it about?
The Secret World's setting involves every clandestine conspiracy and urban legend being true. It's an M-rated title, so expect things to get a little bloody,...

The Secret World puts players into a modern-day world where every myth, legend and conspiracy theory is true, and where secret societies pull the strings of entire governments from the shadows. Players get to travel the world – from New York to London and from Egypt to Transylvania – as they fight the evil that has infiltrated myths and folklore for centuries.
Amanda: The highly anticipated Mmo The Secret World will feature three conflicting secret societies--the Illuminati, the Dragons and the Templars--who stand divided despite their one common priority of pushing back the creatures of the night. Where did the idea for these three units come from, and how much will...
