Mark E. Lawler
- Editor
Mark Elliot Lawler is an award-winning producer and editor with over 20
years experience in television production and new media development. In
that time, he has worked in the sports, reality, entertainment,
industrial, and educational markets.
Mark began his professional career in 1993 working as a producer and editor for educational publisher D.C. Heath and Company. While there, Mark contributed to some groundbreaking video development for interactive CD-ROMs. Two of the products he worked on, Discovering French Interactive and DIME! Interactive, were honored with New Media's Invision Award of Excellence and the Macromedia People's Choice Award.
In 1996 Mark became a producer and the senior editor for Forever Baseball, a weekly half-hour show produced by MediaOne and nationally broadcast in over 20 million homes. In the spring of 1998, Mark joined the Special Projects Division of MediaOne New England (now Comcast), and as a producer was responsible for the development and implementation of several major television and Internet initiatives, including the international broadcast of Harvard University's special convocation in honor of His Excellency Nelson Mandela, President of the Republic of South Africa.
In 2000 Mark joined the Los Angeles-based Donroy Media Corporation (DRM) as a producer and editor, eventually becoming the company's Vice President. While with DRM, Mark oversaw the day-to-day business of a 15-member operation and was responsible for marketing and press campaigns aimed at bolstering the Donroy Media brand. Some DRM clients included Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar Animation Studios, Universal Studios, Starz, and ABC.
After leaving Donroy Media in 2003, Mark pursued a variety of producing, editing, and web development projects through work with networks and corporations such as The Learning Channel, The Travel Channel, The Spanish Beisbol Network, and Heinemann Publishing.
Mark left Los Angeles in 2006 and returned to the Greater Boston area. Having learned the "Hollywood" system, he set his sights on using that knowledge to pursue innovative contract work as well as to develop original content such as Terrapeutics. In July of 2009, Mark finished work on a direct to DVD series for parents on how to support their child's academic success at home. Since then, Mark has focused on the formation of Flying Ribbit ; and is a full time student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
When Mark doesn't have his face planted in textbooks, he enjoys road tripping (in a hybrid) with Angie, cooking with fresh herbs from the garden, and can often be found at the Grog in Newburyport, MA where he revels in watching his beloved Red Sox bludgeon their way into the playoffs.
