Hogan's popularity really took off, Vince McMahon let Hulk keep the
belt.
In early 1982, was inadvertently awarded the WWF World Heavyweight
Championship belt by a dazed referee, after winning a match vs. Bob
Backlund by countout (under WWF rules, titles could not change hands on
a countout). Valentine demanded a rematch, got it (it took place in a
steel cage) ... and lost.

Is the fifth longest single reigning WWF Intercontinental Champion of
all time. His reign lasted 9 months, 12 days.
In July 1978, Valentine claimed his third NWA World Tag Team title
along with Baron Von Raschke.
