Due to her appearance in Battleship Potemkin, she became so famous in the Soviet Union that she was appointed the first permanent Soviet ambassador to Italy in 1931. However, in 1937, she was summoned back to Moscow, where she was put on trial for show and then murdered in 1939 by gunshot as part of Stalin's Great Purge.
