- Upon handing American Chargé d'affaires in Germany Leland B. Morris the declaration of war document on 12/11/41, Ribbentrop said, "Your President has wanted this war, now he has it.".
- His son Rudolf von Ribbentrop born in Wiesbaden, Germany, on 5/11/1921, died in Ratingen, Germany on 5/20/2019. He was a Waffen SS officer during WW II, was in a military prison after the war and later became a banker. He wrote a book on his father.
- Worked as a salesman for the sparkling wine company owned by his wife's family before becoming an adviser to Adolf Hitler.
- When the Japanese first informed Berlin on 11/17/ 1941 that they were likely to go to war with the US, Ribbentrop and Adolf Hitler. both replied that Germany would declare war on the US in support.
