After being discovered in an attic, John Lennon’s famous Help! guitar is headed to auction as part of the upcoming “Music Icons” sale at Julien’s Auctions on May 29 and 30.
Both Lennon and George Harrison played the Framus 12-string Hootenanny acoustic guitar while making Help! — both the album and accompanying film — as well as Rubber Soul. Lennon can be seen strumming it in the performance of “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away” in the Help! movie, while it’s distinct 12-string shimmer also graced songs like “Help!”, “It’s Only Love,...

Reign kicked off its farewell season Friday by throwing a surprise wedding, complete with all the traditional good luck charms: something old, something new, something borrowed, and someone drugged in the back of a carriage and kidnapped. (That’s everything, right?)

Agents of Shield, Season 2, Episode 19: “The Dirty Half Dozen”
Written by Brent Fletcher and Drew Z. Greenberg
Directed by Kevin Tancharoen
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on ABC
After an overloaded plot in “The Frenemy of My Enemy”, nitpicky writing inconsistencies in “Melinda”, and Lincoln’s exposition dump in “Afterlife”, Agents of Shield delivers one of the best episodes of the show so far with “The Dirty Half Dozen”. Picking up right where “The Frenemy of My Enemy” leaves off, Gordon rescues Skye and Calvin and brings them back to Afterlife. When he returns for Lincoln, however, he is injured and narrowly escapes being captured by Hydra. Skye is determined to rescue Lincoln, despite Jiaying’s objections, and she returns to Shield to save Deathlok and Lincoln. As always, other characters, including Coulson and Gonzales, have hidden agendas and their own reasons for agreeing to the mission.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. builds on an impressive turn last week with an episode full of superhuman snafus and double crossing…
This review contains spoilers.
2.16 Afterlife
Things we always wanted to see in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.: fights involving superhuman folk, Coulson quipping, links to the McU, double-crossing and other cool spy stuff.
Things we got in Afterlife: all of the above.
Yep, it turns out last week’s stellar episode One Door Closes has led directly into another good one. It’s telling of how confident S.H.I.E.L.D. has become recently when you consider that we really enjoyed this week’s episode despite the fact that it didn’t actually achieve much beyond reshuffling the deck a little and re-establishing what some core characters are up to.

Coming out of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. winter finale, you’d think that all of the drama would revolve around Skye and her reaction to whatever the fresh hell went on in that temple within the underground alien city.
But you’d be wrong. Instead, when Season 2 resumed, we saw that the whole of Team Coulson had something to say, opine or fret about Skye’s rogue pursuit of Raina, Trip’s ultimately fatal following of Skye and the earthquake that resulted from it all.

Earlier this week, Funko announced the Big Trouble in Little China line of Pop! toys, and that inspired my next Fun Facts list. I watched this movie all of the time when I was a kid. I swear it was on a constant loop in my house for a little while there. The John Carpenter-directed movie stars Kurt Russell, and it was just such an incredibly fun movie, with great characters. I think it's about that time to show it to my own kids. Here are 11 Fun Facts about the movie that you may or may not know. It was hard to find decent clips from this film on YouTube to show you certain things, but I posted the original trailer, a supercut of Russell's best lines in the movie, and the most ridiculous death scene ever.

Another 25 unsung greats come under the spotlight, as we provide our pick of the underappreciated films of 2005...
It's underappreciated films time again, and this week, we delve deep into the year 2005 - a collection of months dominated by the likes of Star Wars: Episode III, another Harry Potter, Steven Spielberg's War Of The Worlds, Peter Jackson's King Kong, and CG family movie Madagascar.
It was also the year Pierce Brosnan formally bowed out of his role as James Bond, and Martin Scorsese's The Aviator was hyped to win the director his first Oscar, but didn't. Still, the contents of this list received nothing like the acclaim of The Aviator, nor the financial pickings of a Star Wars or Harry Potter. As ever, we've focused on 25 films which we think deserve a bit more love.

After over two weeks, Monday was the first night of television without the Olympics. But with three premieres, there was still a lot of onscreen action even on NBC. Coming off the XXX Summer Games being the most-watched event in U.S. TV history, the network had the brand new Stars Earn Stripes (1.7/5) and the second season return of Grimm (2.0/5). In fast nationals, Grimm was down 5% from its series premiere on October 28, 2011 but garnered its second highest rating ever. Hosted by former Nato Commander and Presidential candidate Wesley Clark, the Mark Burnett-produced Stars puts celebs like Dean Cain, Todd Palin and former NFL player and The Expendables actor Terry Crews through simulated military challenges. The show looks to have some challenges of its own, Stars Earn Stripes was down 23% from the debut of fellow competition show Love in The Wild last summer on NBC. With its Olympics coverage done,...

Take this as a reminder, kids, that Twitter is, in fact, real life, not some private repository for all your spare Jonah Hill jokes. The Hollywood Reporter writes today that Courtney Love’s Twitter defamation case has gotten the okay to move forward to trial. In case you’re asking yourself, “Now wait a minute, didn’t Courtney Love already have a defamation lawsuit?,” the answers to that question would be: yes, that one was brought by designer Dawn Simorangkir after Love called her a “a–wipe nasty lying nosebag thief” among other names online, and ugh.
As for this case, apparently Rhonda Holmes of Gordon & Holmes stumbled in front of Love’s Twitter blasts after her lawfirm declined to continue representing Love in a fraud case. “I was f—ing devastated (sic) when Rhonda J Holmes Esq of San Diego was bought off […],” Love allegedly tweeted. It turns out,...

Because car and foot chases are so 2010, the first trailer for 'Premium Rush' is here to remind you that bikes can be awesome too. Starring Joseph-Gordon Levitt and Michael Shannon, the story revolves around a New York City bike messenger who finds himself pedaling for his life when a crooked cop pulls out all the stops to intercept his latest delivery. It's like 'Triple Rush' mixed with 'Run, Lola, Run,' and as the trailer ahead will show you, it's a halfway decent combination.

Update: Video has been taken down, which sucks, but hey, now you'll just have to wait for the better version. It's like not getting to make out with Lindsay Lohan but a day later you get offered fellatio with Megan Fox. And fear not, the second the nice version hits the internet, I will put it up. Just for you. No, not you, the guy next to you. Yeah, that guy.
Here's what happens in the trailer, if you insist:
-Comissioner Gordon is in the hospital (Whaaaa?) talking to either Bruce or Batman about being a hero.
-Bane looks awesome. Totally the proverbial "tits."
-Hathoway's Catwoman looks much more like Pfeiffer's than Berry's. Thank God.
-The triology is ending and I am sad.

One of the hot properties at Cannes was the film version of Lionel Shriver's bestselling We Need to Talk About Kevin, but it's the rare book that makes a successful film. Here are 5 others that worked.
The next novel to watch as a film is We Need to Talk About Kevin, based on Lionel Shriver's chilling Orange Prize-winning novel, and directed by Lynne Ramsey. A spooky Tilda Swinton plays a mother who wonders what, if any, responsibility she has for her teenage son's murderous rampage, in the film, which had its premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival (early reviews called it "superb" ). Ramsey cowrote the script with Rob Festinger, who also adapted Andre Dubus' short story "The Killings" into the knockout 2001 film In the Bedroom, which was a hit at Sundance and nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Gordon Waller (right) with partner Peter Asher in the 1960s. Gordon Waller of Peter and Gordon, one of the top bands of the 1960s British rock groups, died from cardiovascular disease over the weekend. He was 64 years old. In the 1960s, he and Peter Asher were among the most prominent of the British Invasion groups to take America by storm. With their gentle style of warbling love songs, the duo made an immediate hit. Several of their top songs, including their signature tune A World Without Love, had been written for them by Paul McCartney. The duo broke up in 1968 but the parting was amicable and Peter and Gordon were in the midst of their latest reunion concert tour when Waller passed away. For vintage video click here...

The world is a quieter, sadder place for the recent passing of Gordon Waller -- one half (with Peter Asher) of the beloved Peter & Gordon duo. With a delicious blend of pop, folk and melodic rock, Peter & Gordon were immensely popular in the 1960s and again in recent years following their reunion, with Gordon Waller's rich baritone an essential ingredient of their sweet harmony singing. I got to know Gordon quite well over the past 20 years. He was quite the card -- though alas he didn't take proper care of his health. He was by turns gregariously funny and morose. He often saw the gloomy side of life -- but he commented on it with sardonic humor and self-deprecating wit. A rock 'n' roll Eeyore. Today my email box has a plethora...
