Olivia Walton would never. The Waltons star Michael Learned recently reunited with her onscreen daughter Judy Norton for a cooking lesson and a chat about their time on the classic CBS drama. During their conversation, Learned admitted that in real life, she wasn’t quite as squeaky clean as her character on TV, much to the shock of some fans.

Richard Thomas played John-Boy on the popular 1970s TV series The Waltons. But the Emmy-winner actor also had a behind-the-scenes role as the director of multiple episodes. The experience taught him some important lessons that have helped him as an actor, he recently said.

Richard Thomas of CBS’s hit series The Waltons didn’t grow up in the country. But the actor, who rose to fame playing John-Boy Walton in the popular family drama, could still draw on some memorable childhood experiences when playing the character, he recently said in a conversation with this fellow Waltons cast member Judy Norton.

Many young actors would give anything to have a lead role on a hit TV show. But Richard Thomas, who spent five seasons playing John-Boy Walton on CBS’s The Waltons, feared that sticking with the show would eventually do his career more harm than good. Though Thomas had reservations about leaving his Walton family behind, he ultimately felt that it was a necessary move, he recently told his former co-star Judy Norton.

Signing up to run a marathon seems like such a great idea at the time. After all, there’s only upsides to it; people will be proud of you, you will get fitter and healthier through training, you’ll have so much more energy, you can run it for a good cause, it will be a great achievement… It seems a no-brainer, right?
It’s all a big con, ladies and gentlemen. These things are true but no-one really tells you about the problems you’ll encounter. You might be able to anticipate some of them, but only when you start hitting the road or the treadmill will you fully realise what you’ve gotten yourself in to.
There will be thousands out there currently getting themselves ready for the London Marathon, which takes place in the capital on Sunday April 24, and even more getting ready...

Newcastle are planning a surprise move to bring David Ospina to Tyneside in the summer, according to Football Insider.
Providing we keep our Premier League status next year, there is likely to be an overhaul of the current squad and no-one’s position in the squad is safe.
While Tim Krul has been a long-term absentee, Rob Elliot has proved to be a more than adequate replacement – saving us on many occasions – but Karl Darlow has looked suspect in the few appearances he has made so far. With that in mind, the club’s transfer committee appear to be looking elsewhere and have the Arsenal deputy in their sights.
The Colombian has seen his game time severely limited since Petr Cech’s arrival at the Emirates in the summer and he is thought to be considering his options. Whether he’d want to make the move...

Newcastle United are still interested in Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin, according to The Daily Mail.
This contrasts with reports earlier this month that the Magpies have ended their chase for the 18-goal hitman, however, but it is known that Steve McClaren would love to be reunited with a forward he worked closely with at Loftus Road.
Austin has already netted twice in the Championship for Qpr in 2015-16 but he has made it clear that he wants to play in the Barclays Premier League again this season, should a club make a move for him.

That move seems unlikely to be to West Ham United following Austin’s public spat with the east London club’s owner, but The Daily Mail claim Newcastle, Bournemouth, Leicester City and, most particularly, Crystal Palace want the 26-year-old.

Newcastle United have brought one of the summer’s longest-running transfer sagas to a close by “ending their interest” in Charlie Austin, according to The Chronicle.
The publication claims that Queens Park Rangers’ valuation of Austin at £15 million was simply deemed as too steep by the Magpies’ board, although it is noted that if the west London club lower their asking price then Newcastle could swoop once more.
However, it is made clear that head coach Steve McClaren and his backroom-staff member Steve Black – both of who worked with Austin at Loftus Road – wanted to recruit the forward, who netted 18 Barclays Premier League goals last season.

Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey has effectively baited Newcastle United and other potential suitors to make a “firm offer” in their pursuit of Charlie Austin.
The striker’s future has been the source of continued speculation this summer, but as of yet Austin – who scored 18 goals in the Barclays Premier League last season – has remained in west London due to the fact nobody has met their £15 million valuation.
Austin started Qpr’s 2-0 opening-day defeat to Charlton Athletic but that could potentially be his final game for the club, with Newcastle tipped as a potential destination.

Sir Bobby Robson “put his head on the block” by playing Jermaine Jenas regularly as a teenager at Newcastle United, the former Magpies midfielder believes.
Jenas turned down moves to Manchester United and Leeds United in order to head to Tyneside from Nottingham Forest for £5 million in February 2002 at the age of just 18.

West Ham United have “moved ahead” of Newcastle United in the race to sign Charlie Austin from Queens Park Rangers this summer, according to reports.
The Brentwood Gazette claims that the Hammers are desperate to recruit the forward after losing Enner Valencia to a three-month injury layoff, with former Magpie Andy Carroll also already facing a significant portion of the season out at Upton Park.
In fact, it is suggested that Slaven Bilic is willing to offer both cash and Matt Jarvis in part-exchange for Austin.

Last week, Steve McClaren denied that Newcastle had been in “contact” with Qpr over Austin’s availability, despite various reports having linked the Magpies with a move.
Last month, The Daily Mail suggested that Haris Vuckic had been offered as a makeweight in a deal to sign Austin, with the Magpies unwilling to meet Qpr’s £15 million asking price.

Queens Park Rangers manager Chris Ramsey has confirmed that the west London club have rejected more than one offer for Newcastle United target Charlie Austin during this transfer window – and that the striker himself has also rebuffed some of them.
Leicester City are known to have had a £12 million offer rebuffed earlier in the summer, but it is unclear who the second bid came from – with the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Afc Bournemouth and the Magpies also interested in the forward.
The 26-year-old netted 18 Premier League goals last season and is one of the most sought-after strikers in England, plus he is entering the final year of his Qpr contract.

WhatCulture.com/Nufc understands Newcastle United have told Queens Park Rangers that they won’t offer more than £13 million for Charlie Austin. However, The Magpies are willing to allow a couple of their fringe players to head to Loftus Road as part of any deal.
United aren’t willing to pay the 26-year-old’s full asking price of £15 million because they still have their reservations about the much publicised shoulder and knee problems which saw him fail a medical at Hull City in 2013.
In order to entice The Hoops into allowing their striker – who wants to leave for a Premier League side – to move to the North East, Newcastle have told the Championship side they can have one of a list of fringe players including the likes of Haris Vuckic and Gael Bigirimana.
Steve McClaren and the rest of United’s new football board are now waiting for Rangers’ reply.

Newcastle United look set to be thwarted in their bid to tempt Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin to St James’ Park – with the forward reluctant to move away from London this summer.

On May 24th 2015 West Ham United announced that they would not be renewing the contract of their manager, Sam Allardyce.
Allardyce himself has stated he felt it was probably the right time for him to go – for both him and the club.
He had four fairly successful seasons at Upton Park, guiding them to promotion from the Championship in his first season and securing strong mid-table finishes in the next three, finishing 10th, 13th and 12th respectively. However, his time at the club has been plagued by criticism over his style of football, with suggestions that the owners, David Gold and David Sullivan, wanted the team to play in a more entertaining, attacking style.
West Ham are also due to move into the Olympic Stadium in August 2016, and it is thought that the owners want a new manager to oversee the club as they move to...

Newcastle United have been handed a double boost ahead of their trip to Loftus Road this weekend – with Papiss Cisse and Rolando Aarons both passed fit to play.
Cisse has an outside chance of starting the pivotal Premier League match against Queens Park Rangers while Aarons is almost certain to feature off the bench after interim head coach John Carver declared them both available.
Aarons has been out since November due to a succession of hamstring complaints, while 11-goal Cisse featured for 22 minutes off the bench during the 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion last weekend having returned from a seven-game suspension and a knee operation.

Newcastle United’s woes continue to mount after interim head coach John Carver revealed that Siem de Jong has had a thigh scan ahead of the West Bromwich Albion clash.
Carver’s beleaguered side have lost eight consecutive Premier League matches for the first time in the club’s history and they sit just two points and three places above the relegation zone heading into the crunch game with the Baggies.
De Jong was expected to be elevated into the starting line-up for the visit of Tony Pulis’ men after the 26-year-old came on for the final 33 minutes of the 3-0 defeat at Leicester City, but Carver has revealed that the attacking-midfielder is a doubt.

Newcastle United youngster Adam Campbell’s contract expires at the end of the season and it appears as if he is already preparing for life away from Tyneside after he lined up for West Bromwich Albion Under-21s in a friendly match.
Campbell, who scored an impressive four goals in five appearances while on loan at Gateshead earlier this campaign, played a trial match for the Baggies as he ran out for their 3-0 victory over Arsenal U-21s.
The 20-year-old provided an assist for strike partner Adil Nabi and seemed to play a decent role for West Brom as he stayed on the field for 60 minutes – heightening speculation that he could make a permanent move to the Midlands.

There is one Newcastle United player who has scored five goals in his last seven games and nine since February – but unfortunately for Magpies supporters Haris Vuckic is currently wearing the blue of Rangers and not the famous black-and-white stripes.
While Vuckic is likely to be involved in the Scottish Championship play-offs and possibly promotion with Rangers, his parent club have picked up five points since he left and the Magpies face a relegation scrap. This may leave many Newcastle fans wondering why, when the Magpies have such a threadbare squad, the 22-year-old Slovenian international was allowed to leave for Glasgow.
Sent out on loan on deadline day to the Scottish club – in theory alongside four other players – Vuckic was expected to gain some much-needed first-team experience north of the border, but he has gone above and beyond expectations. Nine goals in 13 matches from attacking-midfield, even in the Scottish Championship,...

Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club that are rumoured to be interested in West Brom’s Saido Berahino.
The Baggies’ forward has made a name for himself over the last 12 months with a string of performances that have kept his club in the Premier League.
Liverpool seemed to be in pole position to ease their striker crisis with the £25 million capture of the 21-year-old, who was called up to the senior England squad for the first time in November. But now Spurs are in the hunt.

It’s that time of year again; the Premier League season is upon us and, in accordance with that, we’re all making frantic last minute changes to our fantasy league teams over at fantasy.premierleague.com.
Everyone makes a beeline for the obvious talents – in recent years it’s been the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez – all of whom tended to set us back eight figure sums, but what should we be doing with the rest of our money?
It can be a real pain in the backside trying to decide who else to include in your team, aside from the guaranteed points scorers who cost a fortune, but we think we’ve got a few ideas of some of the best value for money players – in terms of how many points they’ll get you – for the coming season.

There hasn’t been an awful lot of transfer activity this summer at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, but the players, staff and fans alike are still excited about what is looking like a very promising season in 2014-15.
A new manager in Mauricio Pochettino, as well as an entirely new coaching staff, plus a small handful of shrewd and inexpensive signings to date, a resurgent looking set of players from the previous season and more potential signings to come mean that the club as a whole feels like a happy place to be right now and, as a result, they’re confident of achieving success this year.

The summer transfer window is always exciting – or at least extremely eventful – for fans of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Last summer epitomised that notion, as Gareth Bale left for Real Madrid in a world record transfer deal of around £85 million and was “replaced” by an influx of no less than seven new players.
This summer, it’s all been quiet on the transfer front, with no new players incoming as of yet. A few players have left the club, however, with Jake Livermore joining Hull City permanently, after having been on loan at the Kc Stadium last season, for around £7 million and Heurelho Gomes leaving for free to sign for Watford. A number of youngsters have also been released.
That said, there have been wholesale changes on the coaching staff, with Mauricio Pochettino replacing Tim Sherwood, having joined from Southampton, and bringing his supporting staff with him.

Despite winning the Premier League with Manchester City this season, James Milner has this weekend revealed a desire to leave the Etihad this summer. The Sunday People claim that he will tell his manager Manuel Pellegrini after the World Cup that he wishes to be transfer listed to “seek a new challenge” (football to reality translation – he wants to start every week).
Milner started just 17 times in the league this season, making a further 14 appearances from the bench. Crucially, the deciding final two games saw him play just 14 minutes on the final day against West Ham and be substituted on the hour mark against Aston Villa the midweek before.
The Sunday newspapers claim the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Everton and Newcastle would be interested in his signature. His high wages, said to be £90,000 a week, would be a huge problem for Newcastle as he...

We’re into the business end of the Premier League season as there is only ten games to go (for most teams) until we turn our attentions towards the World Cup in Brazil. Unlike previous years, the title race has been gripping and wide open.
Chelsea currently lead the way and Jose Mourinho’s men are four points clear at the top of the table after Arsenal’s shock defeat to Stoke City at the weekend. Now, it’s down to them to hold onto their position.
Arsenal may be on the decline but it’s not advised to write them off just yet. Liverpool are the surprise package this season and have rocketed up the league, now widely being tipped to win their first ever Premier League title, while Manchester City are also still in the running.

There is no doubt that West Ham have had a mixed season, but this is their second year back in the Premier League and things were always going to be tough. West Ham are currently on more of an up than a down, and they find themselves 11th in the league with a safety net of four point above the relegation zone.
It’s not too difficult to see the angle for this slideshow as it’s basically just suggesting that there is every evidence to suggest that they can continue their progress and survive in the league. As always, the focus here is on strong opinions and stats sourced from Who Scored.
I have mentioned in previous articles that this predictive affairs are always a tough ask, especially this season when the league is so tight at the top at the bottom.

It was a frustrating evening for Chelsea as they struggled to breakdown and claim their sixth victory of 2014. On a cold and rainy night at Stamford Bridge, the Hammers dug deep to thwart Jose Mourinho’s title chasing side.
With over 70% possession and 30 shots on goals, the Blues will be aggrieved that they did not take all three points from the London derby. Countless times shots were blocked by valiant West Ham defenders, desperate to fight for what is a valuable point.
Speaking after the match Mourinho admitted that he was not angry with his team, understanding that it was difficult for them to find a way through West Ham’s deep defensive line. Even though the fans may not have been, the Chelsea manager was upbeat after the final whistle.
For Sam Allardyce, the result is a huge boost for his team’s cause.

The Hammers’ defence produced a stubborn display to deny Jose Mourinho’s side their sixth straight win of 2014.

How does a community band together to protest Russia’s anti-gay legislation? A musical, of course.
Dozens of New York stage stars have produced a fake musical that finds Russia’s fictional Broadway community (“The Great Red Way,” as they say) staging a protest show in response to the Russian government stance on homosexual propaganda via theatrical performance. In the U.S., who better to satirize than a group of musical theater actors?

West Ham’s promising England U21 midfielder Ravel Morrison has told West Ham United he wants to join Fulham in January.
Goal.com reports that the highly-rated 20-year-old has been the subject of a £5 million bid plus add-ons from the Cottagers, and Morrison is believed to be keen on a move, which would see an increase on his £15,000 a week salary, and a chance to re-unite with Rene Meulensteen, who worked with him in the youth set-up at Manchester United.
Morrison’s contract has an £18 million release clause, but West Ham will have to quadruple his salary to £60,000 if he is the subject of a £10 million bid, and they are believed to want to cash in on the youngster to fund new signings as they chase Premier League survival. Djamal Abdoun’s penalty, a second half Jamie Paterson hat-trick and an Andy Reid strike saw Championship promotion contenders Nottingham Forest slaughter a youthful West Ham team in the Fa Cup third round.
Reds boss Billy Davies made two changes from the draw at Reading on New Year’s Day. Nathaniel Chalobah was ineligible to play and Jamie Mackie dropped to the bench as Abdoun and Guy Moussi returned to the XI.
Hammers manager Sam Allardyce named a team with just two survivors from the defeat at Fulham last time out. Alou Diarra and Modibo Maiga kept their places whilst five academy graduates started. Adrian was in goal with Stewart Downing and Matt Jarvis operating as wingbacks. Ravel Morrison played despite a niggling groin problem.
Forest were gifted an early lead when George Moncur tripped Paterson in the box on 11 minutes after some fancy footwork.
