- He was on the (exceedingly) short list to be the third James Bond, in Live and Let Die (1973), until Roger Moore was able to spring free from TV commitments. - He recorded an audio commentary for The Beyond (1981) laserdisc, DVD & blu-ray with co-star Catriona MacColl only a few weeks before his death.
- Owned a Victorian gothic folly in Hampstead from the late-1970s until his death. He spent twenty years restoring the historic building, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, while living in it.
- Was a prolific model before entering the world of film acting.
