London, January 22: Kylie Minogue's debut appearance as a judge on BBC1's 'The Voice' has reportedly revived its viewership.
The reality show, which has always struggled in comparison to ITV rival 'The X Factor', saw 2 million additional viewers on its first episode because of the 45-year-old singer, the Guardian reported.

Pete Waterman has said that Kylie Minogue's charisma "oozes from the television" when she is on The Voice UK.
The Stock, Aitken and Waterman songwriter who co-wrote many of the Australian star's early hits told The Guardian that Minogue was always an impressive on-screen presence.
The Voice review: Have Kylie and Ricky given the show new life?
"Kylie was always the sort of person that, when the camera was on her, it really loved her," Waterman said.
"I remember doing so many gigs in the early days where we took television cameras with us and the cameramen would turn around to us and say, 'My God, we've never seen anybody like this girl!'
"And if you watch The Voice that's what you see - someone with such amazing charisma that it just oozes from the television."

If you’re not into production-line pop, you probably weren’t into Stock Aitken Waterman (aka ‘Saw’). They were the Motown of the 80s, a rebooted Holland-Dozier-Holland producing “the sound of a bright young Britain”. It’s more than twenty years since the trio initially parted company, but that sound still has a hugely loyal following.
Mike Stock, Matt Aitken & Pete Waterman were, at least nominally, the core songwriting team at Pwl Records. Between 1984 and 1993 (this was the Stock/Waterman-only period) the Pwl ‘Hit Factory’ churned out hundreds of songs for countless artists. During that time 70 singles written, produced and/or arranged by Saw reached the UK Top 10, with 13 of them going all the way to #1. They produced the 1984 Eurovision entry for Cyprus, they were the UK’s most successful writing/production team in 1989 and at least one Saw-produced single was in the UK Top 75 every single week between...

Who can possibly replace Louis Walsh on the X Factor? The answer to that question is simple. Nobody. It's a silly question.
However, if the X Factor juggernaut is going to continue without the cheeky Irish scamp, Digital Spy has seven (not particularly serious) suggestions for replacements.
Sinitta
A first-week exit on Dancing on Ice, a gig on the written-out-of-Cowell-history TV turkey Grease Is The Word and 10 years on the X Factor sidelines, where she was reduced to parading around with only palm leaves to cover her modesty in a bid to capture someone's (anyone's) attention. Is it finally time for the 'friend of Simon Cowell' and 'So Macho' popstar to step into the big league?
Pete Waterman
Way back when Simon Cowell was still known in the music industry as the man behind Zig & Zag and Robson & Jerome's pop careers, Pete Waterman was the original big cheese in cheesy pop.

Producer Pete Waterman has revealed that he produced 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)' while he was high on cocaine. Dead or Alive's 1984 single was recorded in a 36-hour session, and Waterman said that he took the drug to help him stay awake in the studio. The Daily Mail reported Waterman as saying: "It's the only time I have ever done cocaine in my life. Well, you know, how do you stay up for 36 hours?" 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)' was released in November 1984 and made it to number one in the UK 17 weeks after its release, in March 1985. The single was Stock (more)...

Fans have been waiting for more than 20 years to see Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan reunite for a sentimental outpouring of Especially For You but sadly, they're going to have to wait a while longer.
The only outpouring this week has been the rain, which bogged down London's Hyde Park where thousands of party-goers got muddied up at Wireless. As a result of the state of the park afterwards, Pete Waterman and his gang have had to pull the plug on the special Hit Factory 25th anniversary concert scheduled for tomorrow evening at the same venue.
More: Pete Waterman Tells HuffPostUK About The Day Kylie Turned Up
The decision was made this morning, following inspection of the site by park supervisors and concert organisers. It was decided that the risk to both artists and fans attending the concert was too great to continue with the plans.

Kylie Minogue brought her stripped-bare Anti Tour to London last night, performing a catalogue of B-sides, demos and other relative unknowns to her hardcore fans at Hammersmith.
Some of the songs were obscure even to the pop princess herself, who had to keep a lyric sheet to hand, and even used it as a prop during Give Me Just A Little More Time.
Perhaps she was a little preoccupied, with the announcement earlier in the evening that her sister Dannii had split from her longtime partner Kris Smith.
And the sight in the 5000-strong crowd of Pete Waterman, the man who originally brought her to sing in the UK, and will no doubt be intent on her topping the bill at his Pwl reunion concert at Hyde Park in July.
Kylie came dressed for the part in an eighties-throwback ensemble, studs and all.

Who fans might have to get out and push a little bit here, but a solid story proves worth the not-so-special effects...
Think of dinosaurs these days, and the first franchise that springs to mind is, of course, Jurassic Park. The trilogy of films was hot property at the time, with eye-popping visual effects and camera work. I must confess though, that the first film aside, the other two kind of left me cold. I saw the second one again the other day and I realised that for all its flashy budget, it amounted to very little. Richard Attenborough’s character loses his brain. Jeff Goldblum scowls a lot. Some baldy Pete Waterman lookalike character blunders around uselessly and then screams like a girl at the end when a dinosaur decides to eat him for tea. But hey, good effects, right?
Back in Doctor Who-land, Invasion Of The Dinosaurs works on the reverse principle.

Flamboyant pop star Mika has been approached to compose a song for the U.K. to be performed in 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. U.K. competitor Josh Dubovie was left red-faced after placing last in the annual contest in May this year with a song written by record producer Pete Waterman.
Now show producers want Mika, who was born in Lebanon but raised in London, to fly the flag for Britain by pitching a better track to compete in the European song competition.
A BBC source tells Britain's The Sun, "It's always a difficult call trying to get a decent song together for Eurovision, as this year proved. We had Pete Waterman overseeing it this year but we still came last. Mika has all the right ingredients to make a successful song. We hope he says yes."...

Blind singer, 24 year old Andrew Coleman, is hoping for X Factor success, but as Louis Walsh dumped him from Popstars The Rivals five years ago, Andrew’s worried that the same thing may happen again.
The Sun reports that when Louis refused to put Andrew through to the next round on Popstars – as Louis believed Andrew couldn’t cope with dance routines – he and fellow judge Pete Waterman “fell out” over the decision.
Andrew, who’s a friend of former X Factor winner Joe McElderry, has congenital glaucoma which was made worse when he was the victim of an attack in 2006.
However, determined not to give up on his dream of becoming a professional singer, Andrew was at the X Factor auditions last week.
A friend of Andrew’s told the paper, “He hopes this will be his big break. The whole of Liverpool will be willing him to win.

Oh Eurovision, why must you only be once a year? If you’re not that familiar with it, then in a nutshell it’s an excuse for gay men to have house parties and laugh at bad European music.
Approximately 120 million people tuned in to see Norway host the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, where this year Germany took the title.
Germany doesn’t usually do very well in the scoring, but this year they blatantly cheated by taking it seriously. They put a quirky singer named Lena up for the title and she half-spoke, half-sang a love song in a strange accent à la Bjork/Lily Allen.
Also weighing in Germany's favor, they’ve been supporting the European economy, whereas the UK closed their eyes and put their collective fingers in their ears – and came last as a result. It didn’t help that we were represented with a song by Pete Waterman,...

Graham Norton has told Digital Spy that he is optimistic about the chances of UK hopeful Josh Dubovie at this year's Eurovision. Dismissing DJ Neil Fox's criticism yesterday that the Your Country Needs You! winner is "an average song by an average singer", Norton said that he thinks Pete Waterman-penned track 'That Sounds Good To Me' will stand out from the crowd. "I think if it is an average (more)...

The U.K.'s song entry for this year's Eurovision Song Contest will be sung by 19 year old Josh Dubovie from Basildon, Essex. The public voted for the winner out of six previously unknown acts that performed live on "Your Country Needs You!" on BBC One on Friday.
The six contestants performed the hit songs before the judges picked three to go on to sing the official Eurovision song written by Mike Stock and Pete Waterman called "That Sounds Good to Me." The winner was then voted for by the public. Dubovie will now perform the record in Oslo, Norway in May in hopes to win the Eurovision Song Contest.
Dubovie, who performs professionally at charity evenings, festivals and sports events, sung Jason Donovan's "Too Many Broken Hearts." In second place was Alexis Gerred, 20, from Biggin Hill, Kent, while Esma Akkilic, 17, from north London, came third. Dubovie said: "I'm so so happy,...

Ok, so compared to most of the other contestants on tonight’s Eurovision debacle Josh Dubovie didn’t give a bad performance. For the live show, the 19 year old professional singer gave a rendition of Jason Donovan’s ‘Too Many Broken Hearts’.
While he stayed in tune (which was more than Miss Fitz managed) and had a smooth tone to his voice, we didn’t see much passion in his performance, and even four cute girls in leopard print tops couldn’t make it better!
He has got to step it up a bit next week if he wants the audience to stay awake for his whole song.

We can’t believe that the BBC actually put this five piece band together specially for the Eurovision competition. Individually they may be able to sing, but as a group they may actually have produced the worst musical moment that we have ever witnessed.
On tonight’s show they sang a Steps song, ( though they claim it was by Bananarama ) and we’ve never sworn so much at our television, not even in the most awful of X Factor auditions.
The only one who shone was the mousey bloke at the end but then the other guy dragged it straight back into the gutter. If this is some of the best talent in Britain, then we might just move to The States.

Looking at 20 year old Alexis take to the pre-Eurovision stage tonight, we hoped that he’d be good. He looked like he should be great but in fact he wasn’t.
Pete Waterman mentioned that Alexis was the least experienced performer in this year’s Eurovision competition and we felt that it really showed.
Although Alexis’ singing was passable, he staging and choreography were just awful. As our live blogger Gerard wrote:
Alexis describes his performance as “the best moment of my life”. Clearly he’s a virgin. Christ, I’ve had more exciting illnesses than that performance.

We’ve been doing Eurovision in Britain for many years now. But with the advent of reality television, what better way to decide who represents the country this year than to put it to a public vote? And that’s what’s happening on BBC One tonight – six acts will perform for our pleasure. Then we vote for the one we like the most. Simples.
Graham ‘I’m doing Eurovision now Wogan’s retired’ Norton is presenting tonight’s show, and last year’s winner Alexander Rybak is performing. So are the latest version of the Sugababes (which now features our last Eurovision entrant, Miss Jade Ewen).
Also here tonight is the mastermind of this year’s Eurovision entry – Pete Waterman, who’s written the song for Britain. Tonight, as a test of their musical mettle, the potential entrants will sing classic Stock, Aiken and Waterman singles. Brilliant! This should be camp as hell tonight,...

Performing live in the studio, the Eurovision hopefuls will be out to impress Pete Waterman – producing this year’s entry with long-time collaborator Mike Stock – plus a specially-selected panel consisting of Pete, with last year’s UK entrant Jade Ewen and performance-judge supremo Bruno Tonioli.
They will hear four solo singers, one all-girl trio and a five-piece group – all vying for the opportunity to sing for the UK in Oslo this May.

For the angry fans who want to send a message to Simon Cowell and the X Factor producers, there’s only one tactic that will work – vote for John and Edward. It became clear at the weekend that John and Edward are being kept in the competition to destabilise the other contestants and create publicity for the show. Even Louis Walsh admits they have no hope of winning, so why are they there?
We’ve been inundated with angry commenters who are either planning to boycott the show (I don’t believe them) or stop voting altogether. That won’t work! If you’re angry at the way X Factor has been managed this year, keep watching and voting, but only vote for John and Edward Grimes!
Why vote for John and Edward?
There’s an unspoken truth about X Factor this year: everybody knows it, but not many people are saying it out loud.
