The 1999 coming-of-age comedy "American Pie" was a massive hit when it was released in 1999. Starring a who's-who of upcoming teen talent, "American Pie" delved deeply into the more embarrassing sexual details of being an adolescent boy in the modern day. There were scenes involving bodily fluids, oral sex, and multiple references to creative masturbation. While the bulk of the film -- written by Mike Herz and directed by Paul Weisz -- prided itself on aggressive raunchiness, it wisely ended on a sweet note, allowing the characters to realize that despite having had sex, they still have a lot to look forward to on their journey of growing up.
For a while in the early 2000s, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Seann William Scott, Thomas Ian Nicholas, and Natasha Lyonne were household names largely because of the "American Pie" movies. To date, the series has made $990 million.

The backdrop to American Horror Story season 6, our Us chums look at the lost colony of Roanoke, its myths and pop culture appearances...
In case you missed it, the American Horror Story season 6 theme has been revealed, and it is a bloody Roanoke Nightmare indeed. After promoting the new season without releasing a single frame of footage, the ever-cryptic Ryan Murphy has now unveiled his true crime satire-meets-American Gothic to a surprised public, leading many to wonder… what is Roanoke again?
Despite a misconception in some quarters that the name infamously tied to the words “Lost Colony” was made up for the series, and that this fictional ghost story was set in Virginia (Roanoke is in present day North Carolina), Roanoke is indeed a real place, and the ghost stories around it are every bit as strange—if not stranger—than anything American Horror Story has dreamed up.

After almost 6 years, Kenny Glasgow will be leaving Art Department. The Canadian producers began making music back in 2009 and have since gone on to become hugely influential in the underground Edm scene.
Consisting of Glasgow and Johnny White, Art Department will still be making appearances at all of the scheduled festivals that they’ve committed to, meaning that you can still catch them at Edc New York, Movement Detroit, Groovefest, etc. After they’re done with their current commitments, though, Glasgow will be leaving White to pursue a solo career while White continues on as Art Department.
“Kenny has nearly completed his own solo body of work that I really believe in, and he should by all means pursue those goals. Of course Art Department is not the same Art Department without Kenny, that’s something that can not be duplicated. It will take a new shape, but this is...

Directed By: Ernest Dickerson
Original Airdate: 14 October 2013
In This Episode...
A girl is picking flowers in the woods when a little boy appears, wearing old timey simple, cotton clothes. The girl invites the boy to chase her, and he does. She disappears, and he is left confused - until a warrior on horseback chases the boy through the woods. He ends up on a modern street and the horseman (not headless) poofs into dust when he tries to follow.
A mail carrier finds the boy passed out and calls the police. Abbie and Ichabod arrive at the scene. Besides the clothes, the boy has black, diseased veins, and says only one word: “ulthern.” Naturally, Ichabod recognizes the language as Middle English, and the term: “evil girl.” Since Ichabod is the only one fluent in Middle English, he questions the boy after...

Jamie Brittain does it again. After the last time he wrote an episode featuring Cook (Series 4 Episode 7), there was some doubt in my mind about how well he’d pick up on the character and his story but here he has excelled himself with an episode that’s well-paced and exciting but also manages to have a lot of depth, along with a shockingly dark climax.
But as with basically everything, this episode’s not completely perfect. The first ten minutes are a little slow and the first of the episode’s two sex scenes feels a bit gratuitous and played for laughs, which feels somewhat at odds with the darker tone that builds up later on but those issues aren’t enough to negatively affect the whole episode.
The most experimental part of the episode is Cook’s voiceover...

Mircea Monroe (l.) and Dawn Olivieri limber up in Boy Toy.
The sexy 2011 independent comedy Boy Toy stars John White (Wild Cherry) as Jake, an unsuccessful — but well-endowed! — underwear model in Los Angeles who finds a lucrative new line of work as a platonic escort for women of a certain age.
Just as Jake finds himself a deep-pocketed “sugar mama” in the form of Barbra (Morgan Fairchild, The Seduction), he meets Norah (Mircea Monroe, The 41-Year-Old Virgin…), a sweet and stunning yoga instructor. And so, as Jake’s success blooms, so does his love life, leading him to the kind of personal and professional moment of truth — or possible truth — that one often stumbles upon in Southern California.
Hmmmm… if we removed the word “platonic” from Jake’s job description, it would sound like the film is tackling the kind of material that...

While I was out last night at Digital La's entertainment media goes social panel at the Writers Guild, I'm hoping that many of you stayed in to watch the latest installment of Skins on BBC America. (Btw, astute viewers may have noticed the gorgeous new Skins Season Three promo currently running on BBC America which features a host of pithy quotes about the series from yours truly. Pretty flattering, to be honest.) Given that this is the second week of the third season--and, given the cast changes, essentially a new series in and of itself--i'm extremely curious to see what you thought of last night's episode. Are the new characters growing on you more this week or are you still missing Sid, Cassie, Tony, and the rest of the original gang? Does Effy anchor the new cast? Are you intrigued by Cook or turned off by his bluster? Are the...

You had the chance to read my advance review of Skins' third season premiere a few months ago, but now that the episode has aired in the Us, I'm curious to hear what you thought. Did you miss the original cast of Sid, Tony, Michelle, Cassie, and the rest? Are you intrigued by this new batch of unruly teens? Did the tone feel slightly off between the casual and brusque sexuality of Effy and Cook and the oddness of that first day college assembly? Are you completely amused by Pandora or turned off by her sunny quirkiness? Which characters stand out most to you? And, most importantly, will you tune in again next week? Talk back here. Next week on Skins ("Cook"), Cook prepares to celebrate his seventeenth birthday, although things take a turn for the worse when he encounters a gangster by the name of Johnny White.
