Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons are hungry, wolfing down sandwiches at the start of our “Kinds of Kindness” interview. They’re in Cannes to promote the singular three-part anthology film, which has been well-received. They laugh a lot. She’s a Yorgos Lanthimos veteran, and just won her second Oscar embodying the free-spirited Bella Baxter in “Poor Things.” After that, it seems, nothing will faze her and she’ll do anything for her soulmate director. Announced at Cannes: Their next movie to be shot this summer, “Bugonia” (Focus Features), a remake of a Korean thriller, co-starring Plemons.
The 36-year-old one-time child actor is the new kid in town, joining such familiar faces as Stone, Margaret Qualley, and Willem Dafoe in the Lanthimos ensemble. When the “Fargo” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” star got the call from his agent, even before he read the “Kinds of Kindness” script, he said,...

Corey Hawkins is following his acclaimed performance in “The Color Purple” with another prominent role that should further elevate his rapidly rising profile. He’s set to star alongside Willem Dafoe in “The Man in My Basement,” taking over a role vacated by Jonathan Majors.
The film, which hails from first time director Nadia Latif, is an adaptation of Walter Mosley’s 2004 novel of the same name. Hawkins plays Charles Blakey, a man struggling to avoid foreclosing on his ancestral home who enters into a dubious business arrangement with an investor (Dafoe) that quickly takes a dark turn.
Speaking to IndieWire on the SAG Awards red carpet, Hawkins talked replacing Majors at the last minute and the rich artistic experience that the film provided.
“He came off the role maybe a year ago, and then I got a call from the producers to read the script a few months later,...

Mark Ruffalo has taken a turn. “I’m so sick of being so well-behaved,” he says. “I just want to take the ship as close to the reef as I can without actually crashing it. And maybe I’ll crash it too. I don’t give a sh*t anymore.”
It’s fair to say that prior to his Poor Things role, Ruffalo’s credits are littered with likeable men: Jen Garner’s lovely best friend Matt in 13 Going on 30; the right-side-of-justice Inspector Toschi in Zodiac; real-life environmental activist Rob Bilott in Dark Waters; the abuse-exposing journalist Mike Rezendes in Spotlight… Even his Marvel franchise Hulk is deeply loveable. That’s not to say Ruffalo’s work has been remotely one-note—the man has been Oscar-nominated four times—but there’s a quality of sincerity that lends itself to the full-hearted men he has played.
So, it was hard...

Eager to see just what The Chinese Room and Paradox Interactive have been doing gameplay-wise with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2? You’ve got your wish with not one but two gameplay videos for the long-awaited RPG. The Chinese Room’s Creative Director, Alex Skidmore, was joined by the developer’s Community Manager Joshua Matthews to do a deep-dive into Bloodlines 2‘s mechanics and setting.
“The gameplay and action of Bloodlines 2 is a sort of dance. As players explore the world, soak in the atmosphere, and make strategic choices, they affect their relationships with the characters around them,” explained Skidmore. “Players can choose their legend, but the world is dynamic, and characters will remember how you treat them. Think carefully, and trust no one.”
Matthews and Skidmore highlight an early-game mission, discussing why the player character, Phyre, infiltrates an abandoned warehouse to uncover clues about the mysterious mark on their hand.

Willem Defoe is open to playing Green Goblin again. The 67-year-old actor portrayed the iconic villain in Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man' movie in 2002 and though he was killed off in the film, he reprised the role in 2021's 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' and he admitted he'd enjoy playing Norman Osborn and his crazed alter ego again in the future.Asked about the possibility of returning to the role, he told Inverse: "If everything was right, sure. I mean, that's a great role. I liked the fact that it's a double role both times."Twenty years ago, and fairly recently, both times [were] very different experiences, but I had a good time on both."Willem previously admitted he was "shocked" when he was asked to return to the franchise in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'.He said: "It's always a little difficult when you die in a movie to come back in any sequels.
