London, Aug 25 (Ians) Astronomers have observed a large dark spot in Neptune’s atmosphere, with an unexpected smaller bright spot adjacent to it. This is the first time a dark spot on the planet has ever been observed with a telescope on Earth.
These occasional features in the blue background of Neptune’s atmosphere are a mystery to astronomers, and the new results via Eso’s Very Large Telescope (Vlt) provide further clues as to their nature and origin.
On Neptune, a dark spot was first discovered by NASA’s Voyager 2 in 1989, before disappearing a few years later.
“Since the first discovery of a dark spot, I’ve always wondered what these short-lived and elusive dark features are,” said Patrick Irwin, Professor at University of Oxford and lead investigator of the study published in Nature Astronomy.

The Film
The title of this film is confusing. I first saw it on a Hong Kong Legends DVD as In the Line of Duty. Hkl had released the first film in the series, Yes Madam, as Police Assassins, then skipped directly to this fourth entry. To be fair to them, it never made much sense to pretend that they exist as part of a series, despite the onscreen title for this one—Royal Madam IV: The Witness—again combining elements of the titles of the first two films.
However the title is styled, this one picks up with Cynthia Khan’s Inspector Yeung, who was introduced in the previous film, and would carry over into several more tenuously linked sequels. To begin with we find Yeung in Seattle, helping US Police. There, she and Luk Wan-ting, an immigrant worker moving boxes for a gang of drug smugglers, get caught...

Disney and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, starring Paul Rudd, fell to third place at China’s theatrical box office in its second weekend on local screens, earning just $7 million. Hong Kong courtroom thriller A Guilty Conscience, meanwhile, topped the charts with an $8.5 million opening, according to box office tracker Artisan Gateway. And sci-fi blockbuster The Wandering Earth 2, which has been in cinemas since China’s Lunar New Year holiday over a month ago, climbed back into second place with an $7.4 million haul, lifting its total to $568 million.
Chinese viewers have rewarded Ant-Man 3 with strong social scores — 8.8 on Maoyan, 8.7 at Alibaba’s Taopiaopiao and 6.1 on Douban — but its earnings are coming in far below the first two titles in the franchise. After nine days in release, Ant-Man 3 had earned $31.4 million. Maoyan currently projects the film to finish with a total of around $40 million. The original...

Determined to right his wrong, Adrian gathers former partners Evelyn Fong (Renci Yeung) and Prince (Ho Kai Wa) to free Jolene, but that would mean fighting against the tycoons, Victoria (Fish Liew) and Desmond Chung (Adam Pak), who also have barrister James Tung (Michael Wong) as their private consultant. After 1997, Hong Kong Cinema was in a state of flux. Many of the top tier talent had moved to America and the future looked bleak. Yet where there is a gap, there is opportunity and “Beast Cops” exploded into the cinemas in 1998, breathing new life into a genre that was struggling. Providing Michael Wong with the role of his career, it also highlighted the talent of Anthony Wong, elevating him from Category III villainy to true leading man status. Tt’s time to look back and revisit one of the final great films of the 1990s.

Much like the Prom Night series, or in martial arts cinema the later additions to the Police Story franchise, the Tiger Cage films don’t feature ongoing characters or tell linked stories. The only real tie is that they share cast members and are all martial arts cop movies directed by Yuen Woo-Ping.
The Films
Tiger Cage is about an anti-drug team in the Hong Kong Police force in which there may be corruption, with potentially several of the task force members working with and supplying dealers. Simon Yam plays the head of the unit, while Jacky Cheung, Carol ‘DoDo’ Cheng, Bryan Leung and Donnie Yen are among the detectives he commands. The tone is largely quite serious, and that’s the film’s main downfall, because it’s not something that Yuen Woo-Ping does especially well. In particular, he’s prone to letting his cast overact. They’re having fun,...

Everything Everywhere All at Once. Courtesy of A24.In an interview with Donna Chu of the Hong Kong Film Archive in 1999, Michelle Yeoh said, “Nowadays, when people hear that Michelle Yeoh is in a film, they will immediately think it is an action film. I hope in the future it will be different, and I can present a variety of faces of myself to the audience. But right now I'm very proud of myself for what I've done, creating a niche for myself in action films, because I've worked very hard to achieve this. I really treasure this status and do not take it lightly. But as an actor, you just want to try to act in different styles, and pursue being in different genres of films.”1The twenty plus years since then have seen Yeoh accomplish exactly that, as she is now internationally famous not just as a star of action films,...

"Some people use it to fight and kill. Some people use it for self-improvement. And as for me, I use it for justice." Magnolia Pictures has debuted an official US trailer for yet another Ip Man movie, this one titled Ip Man: Kung Fu Master. This martial arts extravaganza stars Donnie To as the Ip Man, Bruce Lee's legendary kung fu tutor, his third time playing this role (including The Legend Is Born: Ip Man in 2010 and Kung Fu League in 2018). This film isn't connected to the Donnie Yen series of Ip Man films, most recently with Ip Man 4: The Finale just last year. Set before the Communist Revolution in 1949, during his time as a police captain in Foshan, Ip Man is targeted by a vengeful gangster just as the Japanese army invades the region. The film's cast also features Michael Wong, Wanliruo Xin, and Dongfeng Yue. All the fights look badass,...

The current wave of Hong Kong nostalgia continues with “Chasing the Dragon II: Wild Wild Bunch,” an entertaining if superficial and heavily fictionalized glimpse into the final days of notorious 1990s kidnapper Cheung Tze-keung, aka “Big Spender” and renamed Logan Long here. Starring dependable veteran Tony Leung Ka-fai as the master crook and Louis Koo (Johnnie To’s “Drug War”) as an undercover cop tasked with taking him down, this old-school entry co-directed by Jason Kwan and prolific Hong Kong mainstay Wong Jing moves along briskly but never gets beneath the skin of its intriguing characters. Connected solely by its retro crime theme to the 2018 Kwan-Wong hit “Chasing the Dragon,” “Bunch” should do solid business when it opens in China and Hong Kong on June 6, and on limited North American screens on June 7.

With plenty of genre efforts already made, it would seem very few original ideas are left in the ground to unearth for zombie films yet the concept of mixing together ‘The Raid: Redemption’ with ‘Fight Club’ is certainly an intriguing mixture. Nowhere near as unique or creative as it could’ve been but still highly enjoyable nonetheless, this mashup from emerging Taiwanese genre director Joe Chien has a lot to like due to that.

The question of whether to choose love or a chance of fulfilling your dreams has been tormenting couples since the beginning of time, and Michael Wong deals with this theme by adding the concept of the promise in this multi awarded short.
In the film, we watch Wang Yuyang, a passionate man, trying to convince Chen Wen, the girl he loves, to be with him. The 90 coins of the title symbolize the ninety days he gives himself to convince the girl to marry him by showing her his true color and prove his intentions. His efforts are successful and the two fall in love. However, as everyday life hits their bubble of love quite hard, Chen Wen also comes across a chance to fulfill her dreams of going to Paris, which come hand in hand with another man, Andre. The ending of the film gives a definite answer to the question mentioned in the prologue.

Based on a novel of the same name by Hong Kong/Canadian author Mannshin, “Napping Kid” is a timely film that shows us just how much is at stake with digital files, while offering a look at the current state of Hong Kong society.

Saban Films has debuted the official trailer for an action comedy called Skiptrace, starring Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville as the comedy duo. I thought Jackie Chan was done making these kind of movies? I guess not. Chan plays Hong Kong detective Benny Chan who reluctantly joins forces with American gambler Connor Watts to take down the drug lord who murdered his partner. This definitely looks cheesy, there's no doubt about that, but hopefully some of the action is entertaining otherwise what's the point of even making these kind of movies anymore. The full cast includes Fan Bingbing, Eric Tsang, Eve Torres, Winston Chao and Michael Wong. I'm not even sure if this is worth seeking out at all, but give it a shot to start. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Renny Harlin's Skiptrace, direct from YouTube: Fists and feet are flying in this explosive action-comedy starring Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville.

A sequel to Joe Chien’s zombie horror-cum-torture porn flick, Zombie 108, Zombie Fight Club sees Andy (Andy On) and Jessica (Jessica Cambensy) – real originality in naming your characters there – escaping a zombie overrun apartment block in the corner of near-future devastated Taipei city (as seen in the original film). In the midst of this zombie holocaust, with all social structures on the brink of collapse, contaminated drugs cause hordes of rappers and strippers to become infected and join the aggressive flesheaters. When a Swat team arrives on the scene, it seems the cavalry have arrived, but they only want the stash of drug cash…

Hong Kong thrillers have been lifting their game of late, with the likes of “Cold War” and “Firestorm” combining big budget action, star power and contemporary political and social concerns to generally solid effect. “Z Storm”, the first film in many years from veteran director David Lam (“First Shot”) is the latest to try and emulate their success, featuring Louis Koo (“Overheard”) fighting against corruption and financial intrigue in the form of Michael Wong (“Firestorm”), Gordon Lam (“Cold War”) and others, with Dada Chan (“Vulgaria”) on hand in the usual token female role. The plot revolves around the activities of Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (Icac) and its investigations into profiteering and misbehaviour in the police force. Louis Koo plays Icac senior investigator William Luk, the film opening with him investigating a case of extortion involving Ccb (Commercial Crime Bureau) Superintendent Wong Man Bin (Gordon Lam). If the first rule of Zombie Fight Club is that you don't talk about Zombie Fight Club, then you'll have to excuse us because we're in a rule-breaking mood today. There are some things you simply can't not talk about. And this is one of them.
Check out the trailer for Joe Chen's Taiwanese zombie effort, which premieres at Cannes and appears to have been inspired by those undead death matches The Governor would host back in the happy-go-lucky Woodbury days of "The Walking Dead"!
Andy On, Michael Wong, and Terence Yin star.
Synopsis

Spoiler Warning! May Spoil The Ending! It appears as though the ending of Transformers: Age of Extinction will take place at the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade. In the first video below, the first few minutes involve Mark Wahlberg looking up as a recording of Optimus Prime's voice (Peter Cullen) is played. It's a bit difficult understanding what is being said, but a partial description has been made. You can view that below the video, and if you have better ears than me you can add your transcriptions in the comment section. The other video and images mostly show additional scenes Li Bing Bing and a Hong Kong police force with Michael Wong and Ray Lui, all looking up at the sky. The biggest, most hyped and eagerly awaited Hong Kong thriller of the year arrives in the form of “Cold War”, written and directed by first-timers Longman Leung and Sunny Luk. Backed by a massive marketing campaign clearly trying to position it as the new “Infernal Affairs”, the police corruption film is certainly an ambitious affair, with an amazing cast of top stars headlined by Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung Ka Fai, supported by the likes of Eddie Peng (“Tai Chi”), Aarif Lee (“Bruce Lee, My Brother”), Gordon Lam (“Motorway”) and Charlie Young (“Floating City”), with Michael Wong and the immortal Andy Lau on hand for cameo appearances. The effort seems to have paid off, with the film emerging as the biggest Hong Kong money maker of 2012, in addition to having been nominated for a long list of gongs at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Fans of last year’s good/bad/insane Aaron Kwok starring psycho mystery “Murderer” can rejoice, as director Roy Chow and writer Christine To return with more madness in the form of “Nightfall”. Another labyrinth, over the top tale of homicidal intrigue, the Hong Kong film sees the duo maintaining their reputation for hysterical twists and revelations, and features an impressive cast headlined by acclaimed actor and one of the current kings of gritty thrillers, Nick Cheung (recently in Dante Lam’s superb “The Beast Stalker” and “The Stool Pigeon”), with support from veteran Simon Yam (“Election”), Janice Man (“Lover’s Discourse”) and the inimitable Michael Wong (“Overheard”). Cheung plays Wong Yuen Yeung, a man released from jail after a 20 year stretch for the rape and murder of a teenage girl called Yi Wan who he was accused of stalking. Optus has released the second in a series of ads that reposition the telco as a major broadband provider with the slogan ‘It’s possible’.
The ad features a digitised blonde woman holding a yellow cube – a symbol that denotes the Optus network.
An animal doesn’t feature in the ad until the closing frame, when a bear makes deliveries of the yellow Optus cubes.
The visual effects were by Fuel VFX, the ad created by M&C Saatchi.
Anthony Shiner, Optus director of fixed, said in a press release: “Optus revolutionised the fixed broadband market in 2007 with Australia’s first ‘yes’ Fusion home broadband bundle. Today we take this a step further driving mobile lead convergence by giving our customers free fixed broadband as included value for the first time.”
M&C Saatchi Ecd Ben Welsh added: “It was important to bring the brand theme and style seamlessly into the product narrative.

A digitised woman wearing only a petticoat, wandering through dark city streets searching for her lover, is the centre piece for a new brand campaign for Optus.
The idea behind the ad is that Optus brings people closer through its technology.
Though human beings dominate the ad, the telco has not turned its back on animals. A fish, an octopus, a dog, a kangaroo and a rhino make an appearance in the ad.
The yellow cube in the ad represents the Optus network, which transports the girl from Shanghai to her lover in Canowindra, New South Wales.
The agency behind the campaign was M&C Saatchi, which retained the business after a marathon 10-month review in March.
Gavin Williams, head of segment marketing said: “The message of our new brand campaign is a very simple one – we share in what matters most to you. From connecting you with the people you love,...

Oh, Bey. That's just not fair. With The Blood Bond - the debut feature from Bey Logan's start up production house B&E Productions - now in post production, the label has announced the rest of their upcoming production slate.
And what do you think is going to attract all the attention? Will it be animated feature Little Gobie? Michael Wong's Rogue Option? Or, perhaps, could it be Choy Li Fut, a period action film to be co-produced by and star the iconic Gordon Liu?
Nope. Not when the next film to go into production is beach volleyball themed action comedy Beach Spike, starring Chrissie Chau - pictured above - and The Blood Bond's Phoenix Chou. Let's be honest. This could be horrible and still make a big bag of money.
