Reservation Dogs star Devery Jacobs and The Last of Us‘ Lamar Johnson are set to receive special awards at the Canadian Screen Awards.
On Thursday, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television said Jacobs would receive the Radius Award as the actress, writer, director and producer from the Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Territory uses her growing career platform to campaign for indigenous and LGBTQ2S+ rights. In addition to Reservation Dogs, Jacobs stars alongside Alaqua Cox in Marvel’s Echo. She also starred in and produced Backspot, a feature film set in the world of competitive cheerleading.
A Radius Award will also go to Johnson, an actor, director, dancer and artist who received an Emmy nomination for playing Henry Burrell on HBO’s The Last of Us series. Johnson earned a 2023 Canadian Screen Award for his co-starring role in Clement Virgo’s Brother and will also appear in Netflix’s upcoming Western drama The Abandons.

Ben Daniels joins Prime Video’s ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’
Prime Video’s epic fantasy adventure The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power announced seven new cast members have joined season two as filming is underway in the UK. Joining the journey into the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth in recurring roles are Ben Daniels, Nia Towle, Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen “Zates” Atour, Amelia Kenworthy, and Nicholas Woodeson.
Prime Video also confirmed Sam Hazeldine is taking over the role of Orc leader Adar for the second season. Joseph Mawle (Benjen Stark in Game of Thrones) played the character in five episodes of season one.
Prime Video’s announcement did not include any details on who the new recurring cast members will be playing, other than Hazeldine.

One of the villains of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will look quite different when Season 2 of the epic fantasy Amazon series rolls around. The role of Adar, the elven leader of the orcs who basically created Mordor at the end of Season 1, has been recast for the second season and will now be played by Sam Hazeldine.
The character was played in Season 1 by “Game of Thrones” alum Joseph Mawle. Hazeldine’s credits include “Peaky Blinders,” “Slow Horses” and “The Sandman” in which he played Barnaby. He’ll next be seen in the Apple TV+ series “Masters of the Air,” a sequel to “Band of Brothers.”
