If Big Brother had a “Seasons Since Last Expulsion” counter, it would have gone from 11 to zero last week as Luke Valentine became the first houseguest in more than a decade to be ejected from the show. Valentine lost his spot in the 25th season of the CBS reality show after using a racial slur inside the house. Before that scandal, Big Brother hadn’t sent a contestant home for bad behavior since 2012. Here’s a rundown of those disciplinary actions. Justin Sebik (Season 2) In what’s arguably Big Brother’s scariest moment yet, Sebik held a knife to the throat of fellow Season 2 houseguest Krista Stegall and asked her, “Would you get mad if I killed you?” The bartender from Bayonne, New Jersey, claimed he was joking, per The New York Times, but he was nevertheless tossed from the show. The Times later reported that a Justin Sebik — who...

Big Brother has been on the air for 20 years.
The series has been a success story for CBS, but it has also been filled with controversial houseguests.
While most of the action is cut down to three one-hour episodes every week, the series has a 24-hour live feed that gives viewers a closer look into what goes on in the house.
We're running down the most controversial houseguests.
Jack Matthews (Season 21)
Matthews found himself in trouble for comments that viewers found both racist and aggressive.
He did not get on with fellow houseguest, Kemi Fakunle, and said to his allies that he wanted to "stomp a mudhole through" her chest.
He also called her "disgusting" and a "maggot" during their time in the house.
Matthews also courted controversy when called Asian-American houseguest Isabella Wang a "rice pudding."
Julie Chen asked Matthews about his comments upon his eviction, and he apologized to Fakunle,...

CBS has released a statement following outrage by fans over inappropriate behavior and racist comments by some cast members in Season 20.
“Big Brother is a reality show about watching a group of people who have no privacy 24/7 — and capturing every unfiltered moment and conversation in their lives. At times, the houseguests reveal prejudices and exhibit behavior that we do not condone,” CBS said in a statement to Deadline. “The producers have addressed two such incidents that were seen recently on the 24/7 online feed. In both cases, those involved have been warned about their inappropriate behavior and offensive comments, as well as future consequences. These events will not be part of any future Big Brother broadcast on CBS.”
The most recent incident occurred Monday night on the show’s 24/7 feed when cast members Rachel Swindler and Angela Rummans used the term “ghetto” when comparing their tans, sparking swift backlash by fans on Twitter.

In a statement Tuesday night, CBS said it has addressed two instances of “inappropriate behavior and offensive comments” during the filming of “Big Brother” Season 20, and promised “future consequences” should the behavior continue.
CBS also said the inappropriate behavior would not be shown on any future episode of the series.
The network did not name the involved parties, but its statement followed an uproar after two cast members, Angela Rummans and Rachel Swindler, were seen using racially offensive language on the show’s 24-hour live cam. In the footage, Swindler and Rummans used the term “Ghetto” to refer to their skin color. Swindler also compared her tan to the skin tone of her African-American roommate, Bayleigh Dayton, during the conversation.
