There is no denying that any animated project is as good as its voice-over artists. Luckily, the Dcau has never come across an ‘L’ when it comes to finding the right person to voice the characters. They have Andrea Romano to thank for that. The Goddess of Casting has worked across many, many projects as a casting director, including Popeye and Son, Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited, and so on.
Kevin Conroy’s Batman in Dcau’s Batman: The Animated Series
Needless to say, she has worked with a ton of voice-over artists, and picking a favorite amongst them has got to be like finding a needle in the hay. However, there was one actor who held a special part in her heart and if you think that is Kevin Conroy, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Paramount has rebooted Criminal Minds, and starting in November 2022, we were once again immersed in the story of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) agents as they grappled with criminal minds and personal lives. Now, the story has taken an even darker turn, it has been released in a streaming format rather than the traditional TV broadcast one, and the show itself has been subtitled as Evolution. And before we knew it, a new season was already in production (the second season of Evolution and the seventeenth since Criminal Minds premiered on CBS in 2005).
While fans wait in anticipation, the upcoming Season 17 has already had its fair share of details and speculation. Josh Stewart, who has played Will Lamontagne Jr. since Season 2, will be leaving the show, while many are sure that everyone's favorite Spencer Reid will be back, as Matthew Gray Gubler's schedule has finally been cleared, and the...

We've been clamoring for more Criminal Minds since Criminal Minds Evolution Season 1 left us gasping due to its shocking revelations.
Despite scoring a speedy renewal, the long-running drama that morphed into a streaming series a year ago hasn't yet entered production.
Earlier this year, there was word that filming would begin imminently, so fresh episodes were on the air for fans quickly.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes brought Hollywood to a standstill, meaning no new episodes could be produced.
Recently, both guilds reached deals with the AMPTP to fairly compensate writers and actors for their work, clearing the way for production to get underway.
Paget Brewster took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to respond to a fan to give some updates about the show and it's good news.

Never say never. While Matthew Gray Gubler did not reprise his role as fan-favorite character Spencer Reid in the 2022 series Criminal Minds: Evolution, he’s not ruling out revisiting the role in the future, he recently said.
Matthew Gray Gubler says he’d be ‘honored’ to appear in ‘Criminal Mind: Evolution’
Last year, the Bau returned to TV in the Paramount+ series Criminal Minds: Evolution. While Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), Rossi (Joe Mantegna), and other characters were all there to track down serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford), Reid was noticeably absent from the team. The show explained his absence by saying he was on a special assignment. That left the door open for Gubler to appear in future episodes. And it sounds like he’s game to do so.
“Of course! I would be honored. I would absolutely love that,” the actor recently told The Six O’Clock Show (via...

The police procedural drama, Criminal Minds, which centers around a team of FBI profilers as they study the worst criminals the U.S. has to offer, dominated network television on CBS before it moved to the streaming service Paramount +, under its new name Criminal Minds: Evolution. Criminal Minds’ perfect mix of celebrity guest stars, and the show’s characters having strong chemistry kept fans hooked for 16 seasons.
However, all that success didn’t distract viewers from noticing the vast number of cast changes Criminal Minds has endured over the years. While almost all of the changes came as a shock, the reasoning behind some cast members’ departures differed vastly, with some leaving by force, some due to budget cuts, and others even choosing to leave for the sake of their sanity.

The Behavioral Analysis Unit isn’t done taking down serial killers, as Paramount+ has renewed Criminal Minds: Evolution for a second season.
Criminal Minds: Evolution was the revival of the long-running crime procedural series Criminal Minds, which came to an end in 2020. Criminal Minds: Evolution recently returned to Paramount+ after a mid-season break, and now that the series has been renewed, production is expected to kick off on the new season later this year.

Like other long-running procedural series, "Criminal Minds" is an institution of network television. After an admirable fifteen seasons on CBS, the series was given a new life by Paramount+ -- one of the quickest revivals in television history -- with "Criminal Minds: Evolution," which premiered in November 2022. While it may not be the longest-standing procedural nor the most critically acclaimed, "Criminal Minds" has one big thing going for it: a legion of dedicated fans who live for the show's twisted action.
For viewers who've watched every episode without fail, the appeal of "Criminal Minds" is twofold. Of course, there's the killer-of-the-week mystery. But then there are the characters -- a team who acts more like a family – who we continue to root for as the seasons continue. Unfortunately, the lineup at the Bau has changed several times over the years, which is one of the things that make each season vary in quality.

Most of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) is back working the season-long case against UnSub Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) and his network of serial killers in Criminal Minds: Evolution. But two profilers with the team at the end of the series’ original run on CBS (2005-2020) are noticeably absent. Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Matt Simmons (Daniel Henney) are off on assignments that Deputy Director Bailey (Nicholas D’Agosto) said to Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) in the premiere he wasn’t “at liberty to discuss,” adding, “if and when they return is entirely up to them. Sadly, we don’t have a say.” But how much will we hear about those assignments? “I can’t talk too much about it,” showrunner Erica Messer recently told TV Insider. “We won’t hear a ton more about what they’re up to this year, but it’ll come into play next...

This article contains spoilers for Criminal Minds: Evolution episodes 1 and 2.
The CBS drama Criminal Minds debuted back in 2005 and lasted an incredible 15 seasons and 324 episodes. But despite its long run, it did have a few issues, which a new spinoff series on Paramount+ has now aimed to rectify. And while only three episodes of Criminal Minds: Evolution have debuted on the streaming platform, it’s safe to say that the crime drama is already better than its predecessor in one key aspect: its portrayal of mental health.
It’s unsurprising that a show that debuted 17 years ago didn’t have the best understanding of mental illnesses and shares some outdated views. But considering Criminal Minds hinges on the behavioral analysis of humans, you would expect it not to have as many toxic depictions of people with mental illnesses as it does and be unable to deal with the mental health of its own main characters.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains plot points from the premiere of Criminal Minds: Evolution on Paramount+.
Executive Producer Erica Messer never did get much of an explanation as to why CBS in 2019 canceled Criminal Minds, its long-running crime procedural that became appointment viewing for millions. “None of us wanted it to end creatively,” she tells Deadline. “We felt there were plenty more stories to tell. The cast was in such a groove and everybody loved being here.”
So when she was asked in the summer of 2020 to bring the show back, Messer wasn’t too worried about whether she could reassemble the Bau. “It all lined up and worked out,” she recalls. “We had four months to shoot 10 episodes and I felt pretty confident we could gather our troops for that.”

The ultimate victor in the streaming wars has been the audience, which now enjoys the spoils of a content-starved environment in which death is never final, and any familiar TV franchise has a good shot at being resurrected. For proof, as if any more is needed, look to the motley crew of psychopath hunters from the long-running procedural “Criminal Minds,” now back in action on Paramount+ less than three years after CBS took them off the case.
But this is not quite the show viewers watched for 324 episodes. This is “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” a 10-episode-long soft reboot clearly intended to push the franchise into a more mature territory with deliberate pacing and a renewed focus on the profilers solving the murders, rather than the perpetrators committing them. It’s a logical progression for the show, which for all its success on CBS, always felt a bit too dark for the network,...

As a title, Criminal Minds: Evolution refers not just to how a new UnSub upped his game during the pandemic, but also the changes that the series itself has undergone for its rebirth on Paramount+.
Reporting thus far on Criminal Minds: Evolution has regularly labeled it a “revival,” but having screened the first two episodes (of 10), I can attest that, yes, it is that. And then some. We catch back up with friendly faces still solving crime for the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, but the very familiar, predictable rhythms of the 42-minute procedural that aired on CBS for 15 seasons/320-plus episodes are gone,...

After fifteen seasons and 324 episodes, the long-running crime procedural series Criminal Minds came to an end in 2020… but it didn’t take long for rumblings of a revival to emerge. That revival has taken the form of Criminal Minds: Evolution, and Paramount+ have released the first trailer for the upcoming series.
Criminal Minds: Evolution sees the return of Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez, A.J. Cook as Jennifer “JJ” Jareau, Aisha Tyler as Tara Lewis, Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss, and Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia. This time around, the Behavioral Analysis Unit will be going up against “their greatest threat yet,” a network of serial killers who have been recruited during the pandemic by Elias Volt (Zach Gilford), an operations analyst at a global cybersecurity firm with a dark side and an obsession with death.

The “Criminal Minds” Behavioral Analysis Unit is back in the upcoming revival series, “Criminal Minds: Evolution.”
The crime drama series follows Bau’s elite profilers as they face a mysterious antagonist, an UnSub who used the pandemic to build a network of serial killers. When the network is set in motion, the team must bring down their greatest threat, one murderer at a time.
Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, A.J. Cook, Paget Brewster, Aisha Tyler and Adam Rodriguez star as their characters from “Criminal Minds,” while Zach Gilford and Josh Stewart appear as recurring roles.
CBS’ original “Criminal Minds” series, which ran from 2005 to 2020, followed the Bau squad as they investigated and analyzed the nation’s most dangerous serial killers and individual crimes. Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney — who played Dr. Spencer Reid and Special Agent Matt Simmons, respectively — are not yet confirmed to appear in the reboot.

Don’t worry Criminal Minds fans: Members of the Bau who aren’t currently on board for Paramount+‘s sequel series Criminal Minds: Evolution aren’t “gone gone,” showrunner Erica Messer promised during the virtual Television Critics Association panel on September 21. “Our hope is that the team members that we ended the series with on CBS will be able to come back and play at some point,” she shared. While Joe Mantegna (David Rossi), A.J. Cook (Jennifer “J.J.” Jareau), Kirsten Vangsness (Penelope Garcia), Aisha Tyler (Dr. Tara Lewis), Adam Rodriguez (Luke Alvez), and Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss) are all back, Matthew Gray Gubler (Dr. Spencer Reid) and Daniel Henney (Matt Simmons) are not. “It’s a little bit more of a mystery what Reid and Simmons are up to. But they’re certainly not forgotten. Dr. Reid and I believe Matt Simmons’ desks are still there, still have stuff on it.

When Criminal Minds: Evolution debuts this Thanksgiving, it will be without some of its most familiar faces.

The same can be said for Daniel Henny, who played Matthew Simmons when the series aired on CBS.

Messer would like to have more stars to come back at some point in the series.
Thankfully, the series will not be changing in its move from CBS to Paramount+.

Ever since news broke of a Criminal Minds revival on Paramount+, fans have wondered who will return, especially considering the original series ended a year ago.
The project nabbed a formal pickup in February, and now Paget Brewster has an update for fans desperate for some intel.
In a new interview with ComicBook, Brewster revealed that everyone who starred in the last four seasons of the original series has been approached to return.
"We're very thankful that they came to everyone who was in the cast for the last four seasons... They came to all of us and said, 'would you all come back?'" Brewster told the outlet while promoting her new series, Birdgirl.
"And every one of us who can, who isn't already signed on to another show, we've been negotiating this."
Brewster likes that the series has the opportunity to go in a different direction due to it being on streaming.

That's why the Bau's "boy genius" had to go for one more round with Cat Adams on Criminal Minds Season 15 Episode 6.
This marked only the fourth Criminal Minds appearance by Cat.
But as Prentiss noted, the deadly cat-and-mouse games Cat played with the Bau, especially with Reid, makes her one of the more formidable unsubs which the team has faced.

The fun twist this time was that both Cat and Reid were outsmarted by the Bau ... and Max.

Well, this is going to be a twisted ride!
Sometimes a series tries to be too many things at once, but even though Prodigal Son Season 1 Episode 1 juggled a lot, the series may pull it off.
It's dark, twisted, horrific, and fun.
It's a psycho-suspense thriller, a family dramedy, and a graphic crime show wrapped up in one. Fortunately, it keeps the series from slipping into the pitfalls of being too procedural.
At the heart of the series is Tom Payne's Malcolm Bright. So far Payne does a fantastic job of portraying the conflict and duality of Malcolm without overdoing it, which given the subject matter, he easily could have done.
Malcolm has all the high-energy and deduction skills of Sherlock Holmes, the narcissism, rogue charm, and inability to play well with others of Gregory House, and the gawky awkwardness and brilliance of Criminal Minds' Spencer Reid, which makes him instantly likable.

In a perfect world, all of our favorite characters from Criminal Minds would be reunited for one last hurrah in its 15th and final season. After all, the show is ending - don't we deserve to say goodbye to everyone who made it so awesome? It does sound as though executive producer Erica Messer is doing everything in her power to make her dreams come true. In a January 2019 interview with Deadline, Messer spoke about the possibility of including old favorites in the final season, saying, "I am very hopeful that we can honor all of those characters who have been beloved and with this team, with the audience for years." What she didn't say, and what we're still wondering, is which of those characters will we actually see.

We know that Criminal Minds is returning soon for its 15th and final season. We know that - based on the cast photos shot for the July/August issue of CBS's Watch! Magazine - all of our favorite series vets will be reprising their roles, including David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), Jennifer "J.J." Here's everything we know so far about the last season.

The following contains a major spoiler from the Season 14 finale of CBS’ Criminal Minds.
Criminal Minds wrapped its penultimate season on Wednesday night not with any lives in danger, but maybe a heart or two.

Criminal Minds fans are dealing with a lot this week after learning that the long-running drama will be ending after Season 15 next year. Yes, we are aware that means there are still two seasons of awesomeness to look forward to from our favorite Bau agents, but it is a little bittersweet knowing that there is an end date looming over all of the characters and the series in general. The end is in sight for CBS’ Criminal Minds, which will end its long run after 15 seasons.
The cast has had many changes with several stars having come and gone over the years, including original lead Mandy Patinkin, who exited after the second season, Thomas Gibson, who was fired in 2016 after eleven seasons for an on-set altercation, and Shemar Moore, who now headlines another CBS drama, S.W.A.T. (Moore has since returned to Criminal Minds for a guest stint). Another popular cast member, Paget Brewster, rejoined the show after being away for a few seasons.
Then there are stalwarts who have been with the series from the beginning, such as Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid and A.J. Cook as Jennifer “Jj” Jareau, as well as Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, who has been with the series since Season 2. Star Joe Mantegna has been a steady presence as David Rossi since the third season.
