Robin Wright will wear multiple hats on her next series, a Prime Video drama titled The Girlfriend.
Wright will star in, direct and serve as an executive producer of the series, which is based on a novel by Michelle Frances. Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon), Laurie Davidson (Mary and George) and Waleed Zuaiter (Gangs of London) also star in the series from Amazon MGM Studios and Imaginarium Productions.
Wright will play Laura, a woman with a great career, a loving husband (Zuaiter’s Howard) and a close relationship with her son, Daniel (Davidson). Things take a turn when Daniel brings home his new girlfriend, Cherry (Cooke). “After an uncomfortable first meeting,” the show’s description reads, “Laura grows convinced that Cherry isn’t who she says she is. While no one else can see what she sees, Laura refuses to stand by and watch Daniel be deceived. She’ll do anything to protect him.

Production is under way on Altitude Film Entertainment and Citrus Films’ family movie Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans, based on the popular children’s book series by Terry Deary and illustrated by Martin Brown.
Shooting now on location in the UK and Bulgaria, the film will cast the antics of the Roman Empire in a comedic light. It will follow Atti, a Roman teenager with brains but very little brawn. When one of his clever schemes falls foul of Emperor Nero, he is forced to join the army and is sent to miserable, cold, wet Britain where the natives are revolting – quite literally. Things go from bad to worse when Atti is captured by Orla, a feisty teenage Celt desperate to prove herself as a warrior.
Dominic Brigstocke, director of the TV version of the series, will make his feature directorial debut. Script comes from Jessica Swale together with Giles Pilbrow and Caroline Norris.

Channel 4 has unveiled two clips from its brand new comedy Raised by Wolves.
Caitlin Moran has co-written the sitcom with sister Caroline, which is a modern day fictionalised version of their real childhood.
Raised by Wolves follows a group of six siblings and their mother living on a Wolverhampton council estate. Despite not attending school, the family are somehow intellectual and full of wit.
The female children are all named after strong women - Germaine, Aretha, Yoko, Mariah and baby Cher - while brother Wyatt is named after Kevin Costner's character Wyatt Earp.
Germaine is in love with local buffoon Lee Bacon, while Aretha studies Carl Jung and Barack Obama. The pair are constantly at odds but look out for one another.
Rebekah Staton (Spy, Pulling), Philip Jackson (Poirot) and Helen Monks (The Archers) are among the cast. Newcomers Alexa Davies, Molly Risker, Caden Ellis Wall, Lucie Brown...
