Robotech fans have been extremely worried for the past few months. In January the fourth issue of the newest Robotech comic series, Robotech Remix was released to stores. It was the final issue in the first arc of the story and it left fans hungry for more. It set up more mysteries about what had happened to Dana and Bowie in the original timeline, what Rick has been up to since the end of ‘Curtain Call’, and more.
Later issues of the comic were listed in solicitations and covers were even shared with the media. However, February came and went without a Robotech comic. Then March. Fans began to hear from their shops that Robotech Remix had been cancelled. We reached out to Titan Comics in February but only heard that issue 5 was going to be “resolicited” and that an announcement was forthcoming.
Over the next few months little was heard from Titan Comics,...

After years as the underdog, Dana and the Masters saga are taking center stage in the Robotech comic series.
This Robotech article contains minor spoilers up to issue 22 of the Robotech Titan Comics' series.
The Robotech comics are finally giving some major love to the franchise’s underdog, The Masters Saga. While the original Robotech anime was made up three different anime programs, the first and third “sagas” of the show have always received way more attention in the comic world. The Macross Saga has had endless sequels, sidequels, prequels, and retellings. New Generation hasn’t had quite as many but it’s still a major player.
The Masters Saga on the other hand has only received adaptations of the original episodes, a brief miniseries in the late 90’s, and its characters have made scant appearances in other comic series. Much of this is down to it...

Harmony Gold’s deal with Tatsunoko to continue making Robotech and more will continue for years to come.
For the past few years the future of the Robotech franchise seemed to be in question. Back in 2017 a California court upheld a license agreement between Harmony Gold U.S.A. Inc. and Tatsunoko Production, which affirmed Harmony Gold’s license to the three-anime programs from Tatsunoko that were combined to create the unique Robotech anime series.
The big problem? In the upholding of that licensing agreement it also became public knowledge that Harmony Gold’s license to the three series that made up Robotech, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada, would expire on March 14, 2021.
When this news originally broke many fans assumed that once the 2021 date hit, Tatsunoko would simply take their programs back from Harmony Gold. In a sense,...

Titan Comics have announced that New York Times best-selling writer Brian Wood (Dmz, Briggs Land, Northlanders) will helm their brand-new Robotech comic series – based on the legendary 80s animation by Harmony Gold – which is set to launch in 2017.
First airing in the USA in 1985, Robotech was the gateway to anime for many fans – capturing their imagination with its epic generational storyline involving war, romance, and, of course, the transforming Veritech fighters that defend the Earth against extra-terrestrial attacks. The original 85-episode series delved into humanity’s struggle against a series of alien invasions, from the gigantic Zentraedi to the mysterious Invid, battling for control of advanced alien technology that crash-landed on Earth.
Said Robotech’s Tommy Yune:
We are excited to have the opportunity to work with Brian to expand the Robotech universe. His bold approach to storytelling is thoughtful and will be full of surprises for fans.

If you are a fan of the classic 1980s anime series Robotech, I've got some great news for you! Titan Comics has partnered up with Harmony Gold to revive Robotech as a comic book, and they've brought on writer Brian Wood (Briggs Land, Dmz) to develop it.
Harmony Gold president of animation Tommy Yune said in a statement:
"We are excited to have the opportunity to work with Brian to expand the Robotech universe. His bold approach to storytelling is thoughtful and will be full of surprises for fans."
There's no artist attached yet, but the comic publisher did release the retro-style cover art above created by Jason and John Waltrip, who previously worked on Robotech II: The Sentinels, Robotech Genesis: The Legend of Zor, and Robotech: Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles.

Den Of Geek Us visited the offices of Harmony Gold to get updates on the status of the long gestating Robotech film.
For years fans have been waiting for a live action movie based on the popular Robotech series. The news has been slow coming, with the biggest being the announcement of James Wan as director in 2015. In fact, production on the movie has made development of any new material on the animated side complicated for Harmony Gold, the owners of the Robotech franchise.
That may sound like Sony, the company behind the movie, is playing hardball, but Billy Davis, executive vice president of Harmony Gold points out they have a much better relationship with Sony then they did with the last movie studio (Warner Bros) who had the rights to Robotech.
“Sony is allowing us to be a lot more flexible with new toys coming out and such,...

Harmony Gold announced over the weekend at Anime Con that they have plans to bring back the classic 1980s animated series Robotech. Back in 2008, Robotech creator Carl Macek had a new idea for a Robotech animated series called Robotech Academy. After working on the project in secret for two years, Macek unfortunately passed away before finishing it.
Harmony Gold is now looking to bring the unfinished project to life, and they are going to do it will all of the notes, outlines, and scripts that Macek put together when he was working on it. They are funding the project through Kickstarter, and they are asking for $500,000 to produce a 22-minute pilot episode.
$500,000 sounds like a lot of money for a 22-minute pilot episode, but it will cover the complete design and production costs. Any funds that are raised beyond the original goal will go directly into developing more episodes. Those...

(Cbr) Fans of the 1980s anime "Robotech" can help bring a new generation of mechas to the small screen through a new Kickstarter that launched yesterday. Announced by producers Harmony Gold at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles, "Robotech Academy" is based on an idea by Carl Macek, producer and story editor for the original "Robotech," who passed away in 2010. The new animated series would follow several new cadets in their adventures around the Robotech universe. “We’re thrilled to finally be able to tell the world about 'Robotech Academy',” Tommy Yune, president of animation for Harmony Gold, said in a press release. “Over the last few years, Harmony Gold has been working hard to answer fan demand for a new Robotech project. The next step involves fans, who will be instrumental in supporting a crowdfunded Robotech project and making series creator Carl Macek’s original vision for Robotech Academy a reality.

As we hinted earlier today, Speed Racer is returning to comics, with new stories by Len Wein (Human Target, Swamp Thing, X-Men, Wolverine), Tommy Yune, Robby Musso, Lee Kohse, and James Rochelle.
Speed Racer is an English adaptation name of the Japanese manga and anime, Mach Go Go Go, but is best known in the Us from the 60s television series translation and the 2008 film. Selected chapters of the manga were released by Now Comics in the 1990s under the title Speed Racer Classics, later released by the DC Comics division, Wildstorm Productions under the title Speed Racer: The Original Manga, then collected by Idw.
The release date of the new series has yet to be announced. Maybe in this new series, the Mach 5 will actually have a trunk lock? Or is that too much to hope for?...

Oh, anime properties, it seems your time has come. Now it is you, not just the superheroes, who will get tossed around in pre-production and speedy development. Now it is you who can prove that your geek medium has the most loyal customers, willing to shovel boatloads of the salaries of your fans into the pockets of studios as each one tries to be the first to make the seminal anime adaptation. You name the popular anime, I bet you there have been development rumors. Thing is, I'm more a superhero guy, so I'm floundering in this news about Robotech. I even Wikipedia'd the thing only to notice it's a Bfd with multiple animated series and spinoff miscellany. I was entertained to learn that the series originally took place in 2009. Where's my mech, then?Anyway, this also from Wikipedia:During the Robotech Panel at Anime Expo 2008, the involvement of Tobey Maguire and Lawrence Kasdan was confirmed,...
