The Roman Family's story will be incomplete on Fox.
According to Deadline, Monarch has been canceled after one season.
The news dropped just one day after the Monarch Season 1 finale, which was another shocking hour of the Country Music drama series.
Monarch launched in the fall, despite being initially set to premiere much earlier this year.
At the time of the delay, Fox noted that it wanted to give the show more time for promotion.
The series debuted with a football lerad-in back in early September with 4 million viewers and a 0.91 rating, with the premiere going on to reach much higher numbers with encores and delayed viewing factored in.
Unfortunately, the show failed to garner much traction in its regular Tuesdays at 9 p.m. time period, with the series overall averaging 1.9 million viewers and a 0.3 rating
The finale on Tuesday managed 1.6 million viewers and a 0.2 rating.

“Monarch’s” Luke Roman (Joshua Sasse) found himself dealing with a diva situation in last week’s episode of the Fox country music drama, when backstage at his mother’s memorial service, Shania Twain (playing herself) refused to perform. Twain didn’t want to hit the stage because she and the late Dottie Roman (Susan Sarandon) were frenemies after – in this universe – Dottie stole “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”
“Your mother was never nice to me. Bitch stole my song,” Twain quipped to Sasse’s character Luke. And the whole scene ended up being a very unique experience, Sasse said.
“It was hilarious. It was just fantastic,” Sasse told TheWrap. “We didn’t really talk before we went in, she’d just flown in from Switzerland, where she lives. And as the day happened, I was already in the dressing room waiting for it to happen, and so we...

Fox heads to the heart of Texas on Sunday night, blending country music with family squabbles and raw ambition in its new primetime drama “Monarch.”
Debuting the first of its two-episode premiere right after the Fox NFL doubleheader, “Monarch” follows the Roman family members as they strive to maintain their first family of country music status, established by matriarch Dottie Cantrell Roman (Susan Sarandon) and Albie Roman (Trace Adkins).
“So the original inspiration was I thought, ‘What if I reimagined the Romanov dynasty as a family of country stars in Austin, Texas?’” executive producer and creator Melissa London Hilfers told TheWrap of the show’s inspiration. “And I wanted it to be a big, opulent, multi-generational drama.”

Fox has found its solution for the “Monarch”-shaped hole left in its post-nfc Championship time-slot after moving the Susan Sarandon-led drama’s premiere to the fall.
Instead of debuting the new show after the Jan. 30 NFL game, which the broadcast network has delayed due to complications posed by producing it during the pandemic, Fox will air a fresh episode of Gordon Ramsay’s new cooking competition, “Next Level Chef,” immediately after it at 10:00-11:05 p.m. Et/7:00-8:05 p.m. Pt.
Per Fox, “In this special episode, Ramsay and his fellow mentors, Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais, serve up a Sunday Brunch challenge, during which each remaining chef must create a next-level dish that incorporates both sweet and savory elements in just 45 minutes. Find out who will rise to the occasion and who ends up with egg on their face when one aspiring chef goes home.

The reason for the delay is due to Covid-19.
“With an incredible pedigree of talent and musical performances, the powerfully compelling drama, Monarch, is a top priority for Fox Entertainment in 2022,” a Fox Entertainment spokesperson shared in a statement.
“Unfortunately, due to the unavoidable realities of the pandemic and the profound impact Covid-19 continues to have on our industry and around the world, it is necessary to reschedule Monarch‘s January 30 debut to the Fall.”

Exclusive: Dave and Pitch alum Meagan Holder has joined the lead cast of Fox’s upcoming musical drama Monarch. She will appear opposite Susan Sarandon, Albie Roman, Anna Friel, Trace Adkins and Beth Ditto.
Created by Melissa London Hilfers, Monarch is described as a Texas-sized, multigenerational musical drama about America’s first family of country music, the Romans. The Romans are headed by the insanely talented, but tough as nails Queen of Country Music Dottie Cantrell Roman (Sarandon). Along with her beloved husband, Albie (Adkins), Dottie has created a country music dynasty. But even though the Roman name is synonymous with authenticity, the very foundation of their success is a lie. And when their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, heir to the crown Nicolette “Nicky” Roman (Friel) will stop at nothing to protect her family’s legacy, while ensuring her own quest for stardom.
Holder joins the cast as Kayla Taylor-Roman.

Canadian actress Tennille Read has had a juicy and fun role on Workin' Moms and played one of the original Merriwick witches, Patience, on Good Witch.
Now, she's one of the talented ensemble of actors on Syfy's SurrealEstate, where she plays Megan, a woman who inherited a stigmatized property, which, in turn, brought her into Luke Roman's orbit.
We had a chance to chat with Tennille, and she opened up about working with the talented ladies of Workin' Moms and how thrilled she was to land her role on SurrealEstate.
One of the first things I had to ask was for information on her name. Sure enough, her parents chose the unique name from the popular band from the '70s, The Captain and Tennille. But it gets better.
"They really liked the name. Yeah, they thought it was really unique and that it would be a good fit.

Would Luke Roman ever consider going legit, as he considers it?
SurrealEstate Season 1 Episode 8 presents the leverage Luke might need to scrap his supernatural interventions and compete on the same stage as his competitors.
After all, most of their business is from unchallenging homes. They happen to excel across the board.
But what sets them apart are the miracles they offer to people without a chance of selling due to circumstances outside of their control.
If Luke dropped the ball, who would be around to help those who needed it the most?
Luke doesn't seem like the kind of guy to cut and run, but when the hour begins, he's at the end of his rope.
He still can't shake the offending remarks his dead mother made, and after Susan's award ceremony, he's no longer connecting with Megan, either.
Megan has grounded Luke since they met on SurrealEstate Season...

Quarantining with a murderous demon? No, thanks. Schitt's Creek alums Tim Rozon and Sarah Levy have moved out of a dingy motel and into a twisted game of cat and mouse with a paranormal predator in Syfy's SurrealEstate. An exclusive clip from tonight's spooky episode, airing Aug. 27, proves that Luke Roman (Rozon) and Susan Ireland (Levy) quite literally can't escape being supernatural prey. Susan is tracked by a hauntingly hideous corpse-like figure that crawls down the walls of Susan's office at The Roman Agency. With disgusting slithering sounds and the quiet crunch of anticipation, the demon gets closer and closer to a frantic Susan. The ghost even...
