Renounced his Canadian citizenship in order to be eligible for British
life peerage. He was indeed elevated to the peerage by Queen Elizabeth
II on the advice of Tony Blair and became Lord Black of Crossharbour,
on Oct. 31, 2001.
At one point he was the third largest newspaper publisher in the world.
