When Toronto Short Film Festival organizers told deaf filmmaker and artist Chella Man they couldn’t offer accommodations like Asl interpreters or captioning for deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees, he wasn’t surprised. Still, he pulled his film Why Do People Want to Be Remembered from the fest. Aptly, his film tackles the challenges faced by those who are deaf and hard-of-hearing, specifically when they have to rely on often-glitchy technology.

Veteran Warner Bros. Television casting executive Findley Davidson has departed the studio after 15 years, most recently as head of New York casting. She has launched her own, New York-based independent casting office, Findley Davidson Casting, which will offer casting services for film, television, and theatre.
Davidson, who joined Wbtv in 2008, was made VP and head of the studio’s New York casting office in 2019, following the retirement of VP Meg Simon after a 40-year career. I hear Wbtv will maintain some casting presence in New York though it is not expected to be at the level of the past. The studio’s parent Warner Bros. Discovery has been in a cost-cutting mode post-merger, and casting is one of the areas where the company has scaled back, including the elimination of the HBO Max casting department in favor of adopting HBO’s model that involves using casting directors on individual shows.

A new trailer for the upcoming docuseries “Trans in Trumpland” opens with ominous music as Donald Trump is heard in voiceover saying, “I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens.”
There’s no question that Trump, who was impeached for a second time on Wednesday, did not fulfill his promise. In fact, LGBTQ activists rightfully argue that Trump used his power to roll back the rights and protections of trans Americans.
For the four-part “Trans in Trumpland,” director Tony Zosherafatain traveled to the red states of North Carolina, Texas, Mississippi and Idaho throughout the last four years to document the experiences of four trans individuals during the Trump presidency.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the life of a trans woman who was held at a men’s Ice detention center. Zosherafatain is also seen showing photos of himself at age 12 to a trans high schooler.

Exclusive: Actor, model and activist Chella Man (Titans) has boarded Trans In Trumpland as executive producer. He joins Trace Lysette as EP in the four-part docuseries from director Tony Zosherafatain and producer Jamie Dinicola.
The series is told through a road trip lens, as it travels across remote parts of Trump’s America, chronicling the experiences of four transgender people living in politically hostile states. Set against the backdrop of increasing rates of anti-trans violence, Trans in Trumpland is a timely series that shows how the trans community in America is navigating an unprecedented time in our country. Trans in Trumpland will take you behind the headlines to investigate the lived experiences of trans people in North Carolina, Texas, Mississippi, and Idaho.
As members of the trans community, Man, Zosherafatain and Lysette help bolster authentic and inclusive storytelling as the director and producers of the series.

DC Universe’s Titans series is maddeningly uneven. Its second season, out now on disc for those unwilling to buy the service, is perhaps slightly better than its inaugural outing but it’s still a mess.
Let’s start with the fact that everyone behind the camera doesn’t understand Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), so they depict him as bitter and angry, lost and without a clear sense of self. He was never like that in the comics and this is jarring and not terribly well thought through. During the season he is haunted by the vision of Bruce Wayne (Ian Glen), who seems far less brooding than one would expect an aging Batman to be.
The final episode shot for season one is used to open season two as Dick, Donna Troy (Conor Leslie), Hank Hall (Alan Ritchson), Gar Logan (Ryan Potter), Kory Anders (Anna Diop), Jason Todd (Curran Walters...

Titans Season 2 Episode 4
This week Titans flashes back five years to a happier time when our heroes smiled a lot more -- right before they were introduced to Deathstroke – in an episode that feels hollow, despite that brutal ending.
Something that works well for Titans is that it’s created the sense of a shared history between Dick, Hank, Dawn, and Donna. Despite their young age, they each have seen combat, and carry the scars. Last week’s “Ghosts” especially sold that backstory, and the actors have good chemistry with one another.
But when we actually visit the past, and witness this history, it feels … off. There is a lot of telling, but not showing, when it comes to the dynamic of Titans 1.0.

When “Titans” returns for its second season on Friday, the DC Universe series will add a slew of characters, none bigger than Batman himself. But the version who “Game of Thrones” alum Iain Glen will portray will exclusively focus on the Bruce Wayne side of Gotham City’s most famous vigilante’s double life.
“He’s still Batman,” showrunner Greg Walker told TheWrap. “We just don’t see him with the cape and cowl running around, and the bat signal.”
Batman is Warner Bros.’ most lucrative DC Comics character, one in which the company has been fiercely protective. The character has already toplined two separate film franchises, with Robert Pattinson set to lead a third, beginning in 2021 with Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” Glen’s version of Wayne is just one of the ways that DC Comics-based TV shows are incorporating as much of Batman as they can into their worlds,...

Some concept art from DC Universe’s series Titans has surfaced online and teases the character designs for the new characters Aqualad and Ravager. The concept art is little blurry, but you’ll get a good idea of the style they are going with for these two characters.
Drew Van Acker will be taking on the role of Aqualad in the series, and Chelsea T. Zhang is going to be bringing Ravager to life in Titans Season 2. As you’ll see, the costumes seem to be fairly true to the comics. You can check them out in the tweet below:

Warner Bros. Television’s head of New York casting, VP Meg Simon has retired after nearly two decades with the studio and a career of more than 40 years as a casting director and executive in television, theatre and motion pictures. Wbtv casting VP Findley Davidson — who has worked closely with Simon for 12 years at the studio — will now serve as Wbtv’s new head of New York casting.
The studio is not confirming but it appears likely that Simon, a highly regarded casting director/executive, has taken one of the buyouts/early retirement packages made available to veteran employees at all WarnerMedia divisions after the At&T acquisition was completed. Wbtv head of current programming Melinda Hage also recently retired after 25 years at the studio.
“We are incredibly fortunate at Warner Bros. Television to have been associated with Meg for almost 20 years,” said Tom Burke, Wbtv Evp and Head of Casting.

Titans season 1 became an instant fan favorite when it arrived on DC Universe last year as it featured so many characters we either hadn’t seen on screen before or we thought were off-limits to DC’s TV division. And now, season 2 is only going to continue to exploit the freedom the show has to seemingly add in any character it wants by enlisting yet more iconic heroes and villains.
This apparently includes Aquaman’s young sidekicks Aqualad and Aquagirl. The Geeks Worldwide is reporting that Titans is due to add the Atlantean heroes to its line-up during its sophomore run. Gww says that Aqualad, likely the original Garth version, could show up thanks to info from the Titans Facebook fan group. Meanwhile, a casting breakdown for a 13-15 year-old Mediterranean girl to play a “funny, sarcastic and witty” character has them theorizing this could be Tula Aka Aquagirl.

DC Universe continues to empty the DC Comics toy chest for the second season of “Titans,” adding “Game of Thrones” actor Iain Glen to play none other than Batman himself: Bruce Wayne.
Glen, who plays Ser Jorah Mormont on the HBO series, is the latest to join a growing cast list for season 2 of DC Universe’s flagship series. It appears Glen’s Wayne will be after his days fighting crime as the Caped Crusader.
Here’s how DC is describing Glen’s Wayne: After decades of fighting crime as Batman, billionaire Bruce Wayne is just as driven to protect Gotham from evil as he was in his prime. Needing to reconcile his relationship with Dick Grayson, the duo hope to forge a new dynamic as Bruce tries to help his former sidekick and the Titans achieve success.
“Titans” is also bringing in Superboy (Joshua Oprin), Deathstroke (Esai Morales) and Jericho (Chella Man) for season 2.
“Titans” is based on “Teen Titans,” DC’s long-running young superheroes team that first banded together in 1964 on the pages of DC’s “The Brave and the Bold” in a story by writer Bob Haney and artist Bruno Premiani. Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are executive producers for the series from Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
“Titans” was the flagship series for the DC Comics-branded streaming service, which launched last August. The service’s second series, “Doom Patrol,” debuted in February. DC Universe’s expansive roster of TV shows based on fellow DC Comics characters also includes Stargirl, Swamp Thing and Harley Quinn.
Glen’s casting comes as Warner Bros. is about to start the search for another big-screen Batman for Matt Reeves’ planned trilogy of films.
