It may not seem like country singer Shania Twain would have much in common with rock legend Jon Bon Jovi. But he gave her a shout-out during a recent magazine cover story, revealing a surprising connection between the two musicians. Keep reading to find out all the details.
Jon Bon Jovi Shouts Out Shania Twain
Bon Jovi frontman Jon Bon Jovi has been in the news a lot lately. The band celebrated its 40th anniversary with a brand new album out this summer. However, the record almost didn’t happen. Jon Bon Jovi privately underwent surgery on his vocal cords in 2022.
The history of the band and his recent medical issues were all explored in the recent Hulu documentary, Thank You, Goodnight. Former bandmate Richie Sambora spoke on camera about his controversial 2013 exit.
After the documentary dropped, Jon Bon Jovi sat down with ABC’s Michael Strahan for an interview.

In this day and age, singers and performers can make a quick buck on the side by selling their music catalog. Justin Bieber’s done it, Katy Perry’s done it, but Jon Bon Jovi won’t do it. And the answer all comes back to money.
Jon Bon Jovi – Says Their Music Catalog Has “Grown Exponentially” Through The Years
You won’t find Jon Bon Jovi in the lineup of the people who want to sell their music catalogs. Nope, keep the huge one-off payday, this star’s going to keep the rights to his music.
Bon Jovi has a mentor in former songwriting partner Richie Sambora, who sold his catalog in 2020 after exiting the band in 2013. This included his copyright to hits that he co-wrote with the frontman.
While Bon Jovi and Sambora may be chill, the former has no intentions to follow in the latter’s footsteps.

It’s hard to picture so many rock bands without the lead vocalist and guitarist pairings: Mick and Keith, Steven and Joe, Jon and Richie…But not all of these partnerships last. It has now been over a decade since Richie Sambora left Bon Jovi. And while he doesn’t regret the decision to leave the arena rockers after 30 years of hits and hairspray, he’s not entirely proud of how he did it.
Ahead of the second leg of their 2013 Because We Can Tour, Richie Sambora left Bon Jovi, undoubtedly the biggest change in membership for the band since forming in the early ‘80s. But with so much bad medicine in his mouth, he had no choice. As Richie Sambora revealed in Hulu’s docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, “I don’t regret leaving the situation, but I regret how I did it…So I’d...

Los Angeles, April 28 (Ians) ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ could very well be one of the most loved songs but its creator, Jon Bon Jovi wasn’t impressed with the song initially.
The 62-year-old rock icon recently opened up about his four-decades-long career and recalled that he didn’t initially connect with the band’s chart-topping 1986 hit, reports ‘People’ magazine.
He told ‘People’, “It wasn’t that I didn’t want to record it, but I wasn’t all that impressed on the day that we wrote it.”
Upon writing the song, “it was the simple chord progression, the melodies and the lyrics” at first. “But the bass line came to life in the demo studio, when we took it back to the band and worked it up,” reflected the Grammy winner. “That’s how it became what it is”.
He further mentioned, “We knew what we wanted, we just didn’t have it,...

Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” remains one of the most beloved classic rock songs of the 1980s. Bon Jovi’s co-writer said he wrote it in a place that reminded him of an infamous scene from a horror film. Fascinatingly, the lyrics of an earlier Bon Jovi song partially inspired “You Give Love a Bad Name.”
Bon Jovi’s ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’ has a connection to Kiss
Desmond Child is a professional songwriter who became famous for working with classic rock acts like Alice Cooper (“Poison”), Aerosmith (“Dude Looks Like a Lady”), and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (“I Hate Myself for Lovin’ You”), as well as pop singers such as Katy Perry (“Waking Up in Vegas”), Ricky Martin (“Livin’ la Vida Loca”), and Ava Max (“Kings & Queens”). One of his most famous songs is Kiss’ disco/hard rock smash “I Was Made for Lovin’ You.

There was a time not so long ago when limited series were just that: limited. In a post-“Big Little Lies” existence, however, series are limited only until a network executive decides they’re not. For now, FX’s critically acclaimed “Shōgun,” a striking 10-episode historical epic about warring factions in Japan, remains a limited series, having this week reached the end of its source material, James Clavell’s 1975 novel of the same name. The series finale, “A Dream of a Dream,” is now streaming on Hulu, and after picking up in the aftermath of Mariko’s (Anna Sawai) death, manages to complete its narrative arc in emotionally satisfying fashion.
Since its debut in late February, the endlessly compelling (and surprisingly funny) series has captivated viewers, reminding us of the thrills of event TV. Each episode was bigger than the one that came before it, right up until the end.

Forty years after putting down the Power Station broom and picking up the microphone, Jon Bon Jovi is in an introspective mood.
The man who co-wrote iconic songs including “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Keep the Faith” is preparing for the release of Hulu’s four-part docuseries Thank You, Goodnight, directed by Gotham Chopra.
Initially planned as a career retrospective around the band’s 40th anniversary – Bon Jovi’s eponymous album was released on January 21, 1984 – the series added another element to the story, that of its lead singer’s health issues that have raised question marks about the band’s future.
Thank You, Goodnight, which premieres April 26, highlights the highs and lows of being in a band, the drugs and the difficulties of remaining successful and wanting to evolve but not wanting to alienate its audience, in addition to its leader’s health issues. It’s not a “VH1 puff piece,...

Here is an incomplete list of people who might really enjoy Hulu’s Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story: Longtime Bon Jovi fans, who know this story by heart but love it enough to want to hear it again. More recent converts, eager to fill in the gaps of their knowledge. Individuals who are deeply invested in Jon Bon Jovi as a person, and wondering how he’s been. Jon himself, presumably — though the frontman has stressed that he did not have final cut, director Gotham Chopra has assembled a portrait as reverent as any celebrity might reasonably hope for.
Everyone else — the casual listeners, the total newbies, the gossips and (at least in my case) the critics — can probably keep walking. Thank You, Goodnight is a perfectly nice retrospective, approachable and amiable and affectionate. But that’s not the same thing as saying it’s a particularly insightful one.

There have been some truly incredible cameos on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" over the years, ranging from all of the gang's spouses to director Guillermo del Toro, who is nearly unrecognizable as Pappy McPoyle. Often, the cameos come about because the main cast knew someone — del Toro worked with star Charlie Day on "Pacific Rim," for example — but sometimes, they really try to reach beyond their circle of friends and acquaintances. Sometimes it works, while other times they're totally out of luck. The season 4 episode "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life" is a perfect example of both, because there are some wonderful cameos and one that just sadly didn't work out.
In the episode, Dennis (Glenn Howerton) wants to publish his erotic memoirs, but Frank (Danny DeVito) and Mac (Rob McElhenney) point out that the stories inside are totally make-believe and could open them up to litigation -- for example,...

The common theme uniting Hulu day before the press corps Thursday at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour was the importance of telling personal stories.
Hulu’s day started with an impassioned speech from Joey King encouraging Gen Z to learn about the Holocaust via We Were the Lucky Ones, with Jon Bon Jovi getting personal about his career and return from vocal cord surgery in Thank You, Goodnight, through Onyx Collective’s How to Die Alone with Natasha Rothwell explaining the differences she feels between being lonely and being alone and the morning sessions concluding with Candice Carty-Williams explaining how she adapted her deeply personal book.
Here are the highlights:
We Were the Lucky Ones

You only had to look at Jason Isbell’s silhouette to realize what song he was about to perform at the MusiCares tribute to Jon Bon Jovi on Friday night in Los Angeles. Wearing a large-brimmed hat and a long duster coat and holding — the giveaway — a double-neck guitar, it was clear “Wanted Dead or Alive” was in the cards.
Isbell acknowledged as much on Instagram on Saturday: “I think it’s pretty obvious which Bon Jovi song I did just by looking at this picture,” he wrote.

Bon Jovi is getting the whole band back together for a new docuseries that has been picked up by Hulu.
The streamer has acquired Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, a four-part series directed by Gotham Chopra.
The announcement comes the day after the 40th anniversary of the release of the band’s debut, eponymous album, which included the hit Runaway.
There have been numerous Bon Jovi documentaries over the years including When We Were Beautiful, which premiered at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.
Hulu says that this project has the “full cooperation” of all past and present members of the band.
Richie Sambora, who joined the band in 1983 after the departure of original lead guitarist Dave Sabo, who is also presumably in the series, quit the band in 2013. The band has most recently featured keyboardist David Bryan, who was the first to get a call after Jon Bon Jovi landed a record deal,...

As Skidrow frontman Sebastian Bach sat down after a long day of metal rocking to enjoy some MTV, an energetic pretty boy suddenly appeared before the eyes of Bach. And all he could think was, “What the f*ck is a Bon Jovi and What the f*ck is with all those teeth?”, as smiling was not exactly considered cool amongst the metal-heads of the time. And we can’t forget Twister Sister frontman Dee Snider, who believes that he can pin point the exact moment that metal started to become less metal….when Bon Jovi smiled, creating what many like to call “happy metal”. While others say that Bon Jovi’s music brought a fresh new light to the genre causing millions of other smiles to spread throughout the world. Not being completely miserable and angry all the time was a bold controversial move in the world of rock...

Dolly Parton isn’t done rocking yet. After sharing her new album Rockstar last week, our November cover star has returned with two new bonus tracks: Her rendition of the Eddie Money’s “Two Tickets to Paradise,” plus a new version of her classic “Jolene” featuring Måneskin.

It sounds like the new recording stays fairly faithful to the original, with Måneskin’s Damiano David taking on co-lead vocals with Parton.

Speaking with Paramore’s Hayley Williams for Consequence’s most recent cover story, Parton explained that when she found out she was voted into the Rock Hall, she “didn’t feel like [she’d] earned it.” To make up for that, she got into the studio and cut a proper rock album, without cutting any corners. “That was important to me: not to half-ass do a record that’s a country girl singing some rock,...

Bon Jovi’s impact on rock music is undeniable. He’s among the few rock stars who have sold over 130 million albums worldwide and received 15 Grammy Awards. When band members abruptly leave the group that made them famous, most assume that there was plenty of behind-the-scenes drama. However, Jon Bon Jovi insisted there were “no hard feelings” when longtime guitar player Richie Sambora quit the rock band.
Richie Sambora was an original member of Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi was formed in 1983. The band’s initial lineup included lead singer Bon Jovi, guitar player Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, and bass player Alec John Such. The group enjoyed some moderate success with their first few albums and built up a dedicated fan base through frequent tours.
In 1986, they released Slippery When Wet and quickly became stars. The album spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, and singles “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer” both went No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Bon Jovi’s breakout hit “Runaway” started the band’s career, but few fans know how much work went into getting that first big break. While talking with Virgin Radio UK, the frontman shared the desperate move that finally got him the deal he deserved.
“[It’s] 1982. I write ‘Runaway,'” Bon Jovi recalled. “I can’t get a record deal. I can’t even get a band because, you know, original bands aren’t making any money. So, I think to myself, ‘Who is the loneliest man in the music business?...

Even decades later, 1980s music lives on in the hearts of those who grew up on it and the generations who’ve since discovered it. Of course, Bon Jovi has consistently released new music ever since then. But there’s something special about the band’s early work, when bandmates Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora discovered the special connection they shared as songwriters.
Bon Jovi released their debut album in 1984
Over the past 40 years, Bon Jovi has released 15 albums. But the band first burst on the scene with its 1984 self-titled release. This first album featured such hits as “Runaway” and “She Don’t Know Me.” But in hindsight, it was really just a stepping stone for bigger success to follow. Bon Jovi released their second album, 7800° Fahrenheit, the next year, with hits like “Only Lonely.”
But 1986 saw the band reach what still remains its greatest accomplishment. That year, Bon Jovi released its third album,...
